Brewers Trade Value Top Ten
brewcrewdue80 replied to Eye Black's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
The team is in a rebuild. Prospects sorry aren't of value to trade away. Not your key ones like Arcia/Phillips. You're hanging on to them. 1. Lucroy-plain and simple 2. Nelson-5years of control and he's proving easily to be an innings eating #3 at worst. 3. Braun-Telling you he's of value and I'm putting him at 5/77mil on what's a cheap contract for his bat 4. Will Smith-Lefty Lights out slider 5. Khris Davis-HRs, Hrs, hrs get your HRs for sale 6. Corey Kneble/Jeremy Jeffress. Between the two the winner who closes and that experience will create the high trade value 7. Zach Davies-Perfect looking type of #4/5 SP you would like to have over a season. 8. Wily Peralta- I wonder if some Pitching coach out there who looks at tape and just sees a fix to get him to be the #2/3 you want him to be. 9. Matt Garza-if/when he pitches to career norms. 10. Jean Segura-when you have to replace an injured SS and don't want a Yuni type Defense. -
HAhaha on the Cubs deal. They'd get Lucroy and Guerrieri and give up a bunch of lackeys to do so. Almora isn't anything flashy that the Brewers don't already have. Why do the Rays get McKinney and Vogelbach+ who personally would be better fits in a trade with the Cubs for the Brewers than Almora. For Guerrieri? When did he perform to net such a return while Lucroy gets back next to nothing? Swihart for Lucroy straight up...um no. Lucroy is a sure thing. Swihart is a 5year controlled uncertainty. Owens and helps Milw how? It's like the writer went to find every older unusable and less thought of prospects to trade for Lucroy. Why wouldn't they go after the younger uber talents like Eloy Jimenez, Garrett Whitley, or Rafael Devers? Only the Houston proposal with Martes do you appear to get young talent.

Aaron Hill + prospect(s)
brewcrewdue80 replied to Matt Breen's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
58starts in 2 years is 29 starts per year. Something he hasn't reached since the 2011 season. at 31 starts that season. then you're looking at 27more the other season. It's been 2010-2011 since he would have met that mark over a 2year period. Yes it is possible. Plausible, no. -
Will MLB Elect to have the NL Adopt DH for 2017 Season?
brewcrewdue80 replied to Bombers's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Why not give NL teams a 26th man and require the DH to be a Rule 5pickup. And then allow teams to decide if you're going to bat the pitcher or use that Rule 5 in the game. Madison Bumgarner has 9Hrs in past 2 seasons in 159PAs. You're taking that away from being displayed. Personally, if you could just give a team 2 free Pinch hitter PA...by 1 player set in the lineup to use it would leave strategy for when to use. Say it's 2nd inning bases loaded you'd that PH. Or it could be 2nd inning no one on and 1 or 2outs, you let the pitcher bat and save your 2 Pinch hitters for later. Say last season Jason Rogers was used as PH quite often. You'd have your SP in the 9th slot with a slash/Jason Rogers meaning Rogers will bat in the Pitchers place to be used twice in the game. As well as any extra inning ABs if need be. Because you'd like the game to end vs. a 2on 2out RP left to bat situation. That designation gives the opposing team the ability to know who's to be the PH and be prepared more for such. What would be interesting is that leaves the situation runners on 1b/2b 0outs. Do you have SP bunt? Or the PH bat? Just something to keep the NL in-game decisions more intriquing. Say you use your SP for the first 2 PAs of the game. Now you likely have the PH for the Pitcher spot for late innings. Nowadays if the Pitcher spot is due up in the next inning, you wouldn't bring in your closer or setup man in the 8th or 7th IP to get the last out, because you'd have to bat him the following inning. You saved the 2nd PH and now bring out your closer knowing you can have him pitch the next 4outs without having to substitute him the following inning. You just don't have that in the AL. How many times did Mariano Rivera pitch 4out saves? Aside from Interleague away games Yanks never had to worry whether if Rivera would come to the plate in the 9th inning. I love it when a pitcher comes up big in a hitting moment. Who's going to Forget Gallardo's Game winning PH a couple years back? There's also the game where I believe hit a 2run HR and allowed only 1run for a win. A DH will never lay claim to doing that. He's never taking the mound, and usually the DH is highly regarded as a poor defender. The bat is the only reason he's on the team. So you have this Pitcher who defends in the field of play and wins games maybe with his bat. It's so much more special to admire that player. -
Let me pose this question to those who think he's hurt his trade value. Lucroy states basically, he's looking to play for a team with WS ability/talent before he gets too old. What teams that are playing for a World Series aspirations vs. a rebuild is going to not want him now? If he hurt his trade value it's to the teams of Cincy, Atl, Phil, Col., Tampa maybe. Rangers or Nationals, are they now like whoa? This wanting to win attitude and desire to make it to the WS is too much for this team and organization to handle? Come On! Personally, he's improved his value because of his statements. He's hellbent on making a WS if he's playing for a team that could win enough to get to a post-season. Don't many a player/teams have letdown type of years typically after winning a championship? Watch a number of KC players not perform as well this season. These guys got a ring, you consider yourself a WS type team on paper and that you should be able to cruise to another post-season where you turn it on....except since they lull through the season have a hard time winning 84games and making that postseason. No team has won B2B in the 2000s.

Aaron Hill + prospect(s)
brewcrewdue80 replied to Matt Breen's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
With Garza's removal from Starting Rotation to end last season, you have to look at him at a 3/30mil contract. He won't vest at 13mil due to lack of Games started. And a team would be foolish not to try him for a 1/5 contract to perform that year and trade him for some kind of quality. Taking on Hill. I could see that. You're not going to get AZ's top prospects. You make a gamble and take Peter O'Brien with his power bat as a 1b in the years ahead? Isan Diaz is a good looking 2b who's LH. Lastly, do you reacquire Anthony Banda? Solid numbers last season. That'd be a makes sense kind of trade. Send Hill+contract and return Banda to Milw. I think if you want Shipley you're tossing in Smith ideally. Get Shipley as well as Banda. Let's add something. DBacks CBB pick #39 currently. And of course, you'd probably be able to ask for International slot. Arizona is one of the teams that cannot spend more than 300k on any single 2016 International signee. -
Braun's contract while yet is 5/95mil isn't 5/95 counted in next 5 years. It's 5/77mil with 18mil deferred over 9 seasons or 2mil in 2022-2031. So let's assume the 5/77 contract with Milwaukee probably covering that 18mil deferred. Based on what these FA OFs are getting it's like getting Braun on his 3rd year of current arb(being a Super 2) for the next 5years. He's not even making the QO number that Gallardo just turned down on avg. Do I want him traded away this year? No honestly. His value stands to grow a lot more after this year if he plays up to the same kind of numbers he posted this year. And he started TERRIBLE! You get his contract down to 4/62mil after another 25/25 type season? And let's say the DH becomes a reality for 2017 in the NL. He's going to be worth a whole lot more for his productive bat.

Ya'll didn't read the entire statements. “I want to go out and tear it up. It wasn’t for a lack of effort last year,” said Lucroy. “I just did not compete at the level I know I’m capable of. There’s always doubters out there, which is fine. I plan on proving a lot of people wrong.” That he has a chip on his shoulder. “I’m not going to sit here and say we’re going to compete for the playoffs this year. If I did that, you’d call me a liar. I’d lose credibility and respect. I want to win and I don’t see us winning in the foreseeable future. I want to go to a World Series. That’s what all players want. Rebuilding is not a lot of fun for any veteran guy. … It’s not guaranteed that I’m going to win if I am traded. But I’m going to be a 30-year-old catcher (in June). I can’t put numbers on how much longer I’m going to play, but as players we want to win. I don’t care about the money; I just want to win. That’s the bottom line.” Him being honest we're drilling him for that. He answered why. You'd call him a liar if he said this team can get to the World Series. I find nothing wrong with what he said. If Braun was making 5mil less in a year avg, I'm sure he'd be getting around to saying the same thing. Obviously Lucroy is a more attractive trade candidate than Braun so he's the one with trade questions. Also, mind you he's a Catcher. Lucroy knows his longevity is likely a lot shorter than an avg position player. Him turning 30 is like Braun turning 35 and stating this. Kudos to Lucroy for wanting to win and state he doesn't care about the money.
-
This is something that will just show why Lucroy is to be valued so much. Upton's previous MVP caliber of a season the year Braun won it is still fresh on a team's mind. Let's put some of Melvin Upton's troubles as a reason why Justin didn't make as successful stats in Atlanta. He had an over 1 OPS the team's first quarter of the season but Melvin was sitting at a putrid .476 Then he goes to the pitcher haven that is San Diego and his stats are going to reflect that. Not surprised by the amount at all. This is Ryan Braun in another body.

Baseball being played. Football season is now over. Spring, then Summer the Weather! Favorite time of the year as a Brewer fan. I'll sacrifice watching some games to play softball. It's not one thing to look forward to on the team. No I in Team. I'm looking forward to who breakouts from the Pitching staff at Starters. Who cements the role for Closer. Who breaksout as a position player. Truth is, the team has such a poor outlook from everyone, it's going to be good when any player shines this year because shining of any type isn't expected. We've got the draft and International Signings. So much talent in the lower minors. I expect every month to be able to gloat about somebody whether it's in the minors or the majors. Youth movement I guess is what I'm excited about.

Why? His fly balls will go 280 feet vs. 275 feet? When does he hit fly balls? Grounders galore. http://m.mlb.com/video/v33903349/?game_pk=381641 There was this power display Segura put on at Coors. Doubled his HR total from 2 to 4 in 2014 in those b2b ABs.

Bryce Harper: Will he get $50 million per year?
brewcrewdue80 replied to homer's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I don't see 50mil per year happening for him but he may reach 50mil paid in a season or two in his next contract. I could see a 40/42/45/48/50/50/50/48/45/42/40 kind of deal. That'd be 11/500mil. Which I think 500mil would be a number to guess around. -
The Hypothetical Hot Start to 2016
brewcrewdue80 replied to Tedaldtada's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Had a dream last night Davies was the opening day starter. Yes to our #5 being Opening Day Starter. Let's do a reverse order on the year and Matchup our #5 vs #1 and our #1 vs their #5. Lose big, eek out winnable games. I've always wondered why this wasn't tried in rotation setups. #1 goes 7IP 1run or less and team loses. Meanwhile #5s becomes battle of bullpens. -
Maybe we target a SS that projects to move to 3B in the future? Yes that is reasonable until you wonder where this glut of SS the team has in minors plays? Lara and Gatewood already fit that profile. Yadiel Rivera is that result having to be moved off of SS. Franly Mallen another. Truly believe the Team has a 10-12year solution in Arcia at SS. If you're acquiring this SS to 3b type remember that offensive profiles don't usually match up. We're likely getting a soft hitting body that is lucky to max 15HRs in a season. Unless he has a .300 avg or a .350+OB, his OPS will be tough to reach .760 much less .800+

The thought of Rey being Han's or Leia's daughter is forgetting both of their reactions as being non-parents. It's I saw Ben. To nothing being around Rey. Leia has the force and most certainly would feel her own daughter's presence, like Ren feeling Han's presence. So Rey is not theirs 1000%. There's part of me that wants to believe she'll be Luke's daughter. That Luke saved her from the Ren destruction of his Jedi teachings. But, then I think again of the force and wonder why is Luke doing nothing with her being under so much trouble in the movie. If Leia felt Han's death, and Luke being the best of the best Jedi remaining, he'd certainly feel his offspring in danger....Come to her aid? So, there you have it. Obi-Wan relation. But it'd be Grand-daughter because of the 30year threshold. But that again bears questioning. Who was Obi Wan's Mate? How many children did they have that never been mentioned? Where's this Mom/Dad and how are they living or not? You're losing a big story. The lightsaber moment. Yes it's Luke's lightsaber. What about before it became his? I don't remember where it came from you can update me. Was it Obi-Wan's previously? Stormtroopers.... Weren't they originally clones? So now they are raised from birth? You'd guess that Finn is young 20s. This New Order has thousands of baby incuberators, tiny stormtrooper training facility somewhere? They must steal the babies, so they are going around planets and acquiring all of these babies, how is there not a bigger rebellion against just that? Since stormtroopers are all the same size?, they are only stealing human babies? It makes no sense that this one can break through emotionless state and suddenly be an independent. Unless going back to the Clone recollection, and you hack into one's mind and remove his trained consciousness? And that's your answer, Luke used the force, his mind, hacked into Finn randomly and gave him the aura to protect Rey without him having to be there in person. Because Rey is Luke's creation.

I agree with others that mention Cordell is probably not a candidate to become a major league 3B, and is not someone I would be all that interested in acquiring. The only player of the bunch that I would have confidence in eventually becoming a solid major leaguer or better is Luis Ortiz. Even with Ortiz, who I very much like, I worry a little about whether he has put on to much extra weight to his frame during the past year. I realize good baseball players come in all shapes and sizes, but for only being 20 years old Ortiz appears to be somewhat "out of shape". Maybe it is an unfair criticism and doesn't matter since he clearly appears to posses the stuff to be successful. Here is a to one of his Fall League outings. Yikes what is he doing? BRef lists him at 230 at 6' 3" Seems fangraphs as well. I'd say at 6'3" he's looking like 260-270 in that vid. He was put on the DL for Fatigue in June. Anyone suppose his diet would be cause of that? I've varied my weight always big a high of 314 and low of 196. Sitting at 240 to start this year. There are foods I've eaten where I feel zapped after an hour or so. You can guess it's the kind that includes donuts or sweets. I'm so disappointed in seeing this because his draft vids there could be no one higher in regards to his talent than likely me. I threw Felix comps at him though looking now he doesn't possess the Curveball but 6'3" 225 size of Felix is accurate. I'd pause currently at Ortiz and see where he stands mid-season. Obviously, this could be a plus having this kind of concern may make him more available and the talent never ceases is legit. Or you get him and he battles his weight too much to succeed until he wins that battle. It's so tough to find solid trade proposals. The Brewers have so many OF prospects and have SS covered. 1b and 3b lack in ideal value gets for Lucroy. I'm not for C trades. You look at potential SPs you'd want, and I think teams are going to balk at giving up that tier of talent. You're back to finding diamonds in the rough 18-19year olds who've got a lot of talent, but yet to establish a foothold on legit prospect status. That trade will feel like a kick in the gut the way Lind's trade felt.

Lind, Lucroy, K-Rod available (as per Olney)
brewcrewdue80 replied to 3and2Fastball's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Giolito is not being traded. Come on. Maybe if J.Fernandez was on the table. Or Zach Grienke. Minus 100mil. Rendon is solidly the Nats 3b. Hes so good it'd take Lucroy, Smith, Kneble maybe if not more. Rendon is top 25 in all of baseball. Maybe top 10. Because of 3b prowess that doesn't exist. Franchise player requires better than franchise making return. Just saying. I'm still in belief Lucroy will remain on team to start season. -
Twins interested in Will Smith
brewcrewdue80 replied to And That's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Don't get acquiring another OF. As a growing youth movement we only run like four deep at every (OF )position. Gonsalves intrigued me predraft. But add another prospect that I'm not looking at and I'd make that deal. -
Brewers sign Chris Carter to a 1-year, $2.5 mil deal
brewcrewdue80 replied to markedman5's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
2.5mil or 3mil whatever it may be is cheap overall for 30+HRs and a .750+OPS. You do understand he's a 30+HR bat being moved into a more hitter friendly ballpark. Wouldn't surprise if he got to a 40HR pace. For his price tag and not being signed leaves the impression of not a big trade value. His value to me comes only when a Playoff type team suffers a 1b of theirs injury through the rest of the season and that happening before the trade deadline. I just hope I get to watch him at .220 on the season and chase 40HRs by the end of the season. It'll be something to keep attention watching games in August/September. If somehow Arcia or Phillips or say Hader aren't called up. -
The Hypothetical Hot Start to 2016
brewcrewdue80 replied to Tedaldtada's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I don't think a single expected regular outperformed at all last season. Jungmann outperformed but he wasn't an expected regular. Okay there was Parra until traded. The starting pitching was dreadful. Back end of the bullpen a plus. This was a much better than 94 loss team until they took the field. And Roenicke may have been a big part to blame. It's hard to fathom Segura or Gennett batting any worse. It's hard to fathom the Starting pitching being worse. Lohse is removed, Garza has to pitch better. Peralta. Who knows he's never had the peripherals to suggest a decent improvement but 190 IP at 4ERA is certainly better than last season. Yes we've removed some players but I believe KRod is easily replaced. Santana for Parra I'll call even. Carter is a dropoff from Lind. Considering ARam's aged performance, I doubt we'll be any worse off there. Fiers pretty much replaced by Davies. Outsiders call this a 100 loss team. We lost 94 last season w/o any current player on the team stepping up above expectations. Will this be a team that can start off hot? All starts with the SPs. Nelson, Garza, and Peralta being #2s/3s and the next 2 whomever it be solid 4s. The all could obviously pitch to #5s and winning 6games only in May is possible. We'll have an idea as Spring Training results what to expect. If Garza/Peralta are performing. If Davies isn't going to get shelled. And which one between Jungmann and Lopez deserves the final spot. -
Brewers sign Chris Carter to a 1-year, $2.5 mil deal
brewcrewdue80 replied to markedman5's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Seeing as he only has 3.159 years of service time, can't the Brewers control him for 3 years under arbitration? He can be a brewer through 2018? I am not sure how this works but hope someone here does. You are exactly correct. He is under control for three years - if we want him that long. Makes him more valuable as a trade asset if does well. So essentially he's on his Arb years. He'll be asking for more next season with his case and is club moves on having not traded him just non-tender him. Or agree to another year. It's a really great move. Performs big trade value. Performs bad as history shows, take him another year at cheap price, try again. He's really bad, you just non-tender him next season. Solid guess would be Braun 25-30HRs, Carter 30-36HRs, and Davis 25-32HRs. I'll take seeing a HR from one of these 3 every other game. -
Morosi Predicts a July Khris Davis Trade
brewcrewdue80 replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Yep seems about right. I'm thinking Lucroy #4 Davis #5 in batting order. 90games of production could yield results making both of higher value. Davis' HR barrage in the 2nd half is going to be on GM minds of he's ordinary sub-avg first half. Puts it together for full year 30+hr potential and that would be the bat for the stretch. 5-7HRs he just is a Gerardo Parra type trade. Get 1player high floor low ceiling. -
Lind, Lucroy, K-Rod available (as per Olney)
brewcrewdue80 replied to 3and2Fastball's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Injuries do happen. How about Buster Posey breaking his leg. Hamstring pulls? There's likely going to be some team in Playoff/WS contention that lose their starting catcher to injury. Trading for Lucroy in that circumstance would mean desperation and a likely overpay. Why not bat Lucroy Cleanup behind Braun with Davis(Mr 30HR potential) behind? .280 15-18HRs and 80+RBI pace I think would get GMs drooling to have that. -
