Profar and Benintendi were top of class pickups that automatically puts them at a top 60 ranking pretty much before playing a professional game(Jed Bradley was top 100 due to this) Profar lost 2 full seasons when he was expected to play his 1st full season to shoulder injury. Pretty rough start to meet the expectations. Moore (HS 8th rd) was off and running and then needed TJ and never returned to his forthcoming #1 prospect self. Injuries plagued and runied his career. (Think Jimmy Nelson) Chourio you hope doesn't suffer the fate of early career severe injury. He was 18th on international signing ranking so he was on the radar unlike our C Quero. What exactly should be the expectation of a #1 prospect? 3+WAR yearly? 5+? 7+?

Yeah boring outside of what is given to acquire Ohtani. San Diego has the 3rd best run differential in the NL. Sit 6 games back. Having arguably the best closer in Hader. They have very good reasons to be the team to bring in Ohtani. With prospect package to offer. So you mention a few names they could sell, but why not them buying Ohtani? Talk about star studded team moving ahead. I'd be a fan of the move just to see how close they would get to winning the division, much less earning a WC spot. Bieber is out til September 10th at the earliest and tbh elbow inflammation with that kind of push back is likely delaying TJ in hopes someway not to be. Verlander/Scherzer those are big contracts to work around on top I imagine no trade refusal rights? Goldschmidt would be 1 helluva sought after trade I'll give you that. Do the Cardinals know how to sell around the deadline? It feels they'd be breaking one of their unwritten rules. They've only finished 1 season this century below .500. I'd imagine Goldy has refusal rights too. Like MLBTR not giving a big update to this top 50 list yet shows how little the excitement will be in trades.

Ethan Small is going to get you a rental RP at best on his own. Used up 2 option years now already. And based on his stats in the majors and minor league WHIP, a team acquiring him should assume they got 1 season more to use him as a RP. Hiura has no options. Teams already passed on that. Let's keep these 2 names out of any trade proposal. In no world are you looking to acquire the two while trading away say Victor Caratini off this team. That's the best example I got of the level of player the Brewers are realistically adding to this team. If they were going to pull off a significant move, history shows they do it earlier and not last minute. The way this team was built, I feel they expected to sell off Winker/Anderson/&Tellez with possibly Urias/Houser. Only all but Houser, created negative value, and Houser's isn't all too much. All the ML guys thought expendable have been awful, while most of a top 10 team prospects have earned values beyond using in trades. I'd wonder on what #3 SP with 1+yrs control is out there who you pawn off Houser and Robert Gasser to. Woodruff/Miley/Ashby uncertainties along with Peralta's continued below expectation season. Finding Someone's SP who's just not quite ToR material but better than Houser making around similar but bigger next year. I don't know. Just saying I'd think the team uses Gasser in a trade for SP. I looked. This SP doesn't exist among teams with 48wins or less. Obviously above this threshold teams are in the running to be buyers. This will be the worst trade deadline ever across MLB.

Small is waiver wire pay. If this is what it would take, Milw should do it. To give up likely 0 superstars to acquire 2 for 2 months each? You should scrap Small and replace it with 1 of Misiorowski or Quero. Maybe you don't include Lara but somebody Like Logan Henderson or Chris Wood depending the SP/C you gave up between Mis/Que.

How can the Yankees acquire Ohtani? They have 2 top 100 prospects. Dominguez and a Catcher. Like they're about 27th or worse on headline packpage to offer. I can't even fathom a package it'd take for essentially 2 of the best players in the game but in 1 player. Nobody should be able to meet what it should cost.

Don't be the type who makes offers that rid the team of low value/waiver wire values like it will get somebody the Brewers need. Nobody wants any of these guys but us.

This should be your strategy. Draft guys who are likelier to make the Majors than guys who you can sign but ceiling out as AAA filler. Don't sign? No worries. Kept other teams from drafting and possibly signing. Didn't they increase pay for players in the minors? Still getting 150k and what's paid to you now may sway one starting their pro path quicker to the bigs. This can be the new way risking more ML draft with volume coming from international signings. I also like the protection idea on Pratt not signing. They find one or multiples who take what Pratt didn't that was saved up for.

Well that's nice read that the delivery is super repeatable. 190 is a little light for your preferred workload SP. He'll obviously have time to mature and build up a couple ticks of velocity with a bigger frame. He'll carve up Rok-A+ ball with that Curveball offering.

You don't see pitcher Carlos Rodriguez as untouchable? Luis Lara? Abner Uribe? I fully get Frelick(8/40 since return in AAA no XBHs)being a headliner as the defense/power potential isn't up there with Wiemer or Mitchell. Now I would trade the untradeables if getting a longer controlled player who fits the needs as a position player for position player or pitcher for pitcher. What clogs this buy at trade deadline is the, Are you trading the guys set to be FAs after 2024 after the season if not 1 or 2 at this trade deadline? Using our top guys in minors with trade value to improve this team doesn't sit right with the impending trade of the future FAs next offseason. Using the guys who aren't top tier in our minors, what are you really improving this team doing so? The players traded for is likely a rental of another version of Anderson, Winker, or Tellez downside/upside. Another version of Matt Bush upside/downside. As we sit right now, we're heading a playoff pitching matchup with Burnes, Miley, then Peralta. Sucks where we are sitting. We need 2 bats with confidence they are good bats to make an impact on offense. 1 better SP than Miley&Peralta. 1 RP that is late inning reliable. Did any of these 50 in OP fill that honestly? Competing with 15+ other bidders potentially. It'd wipe out the entire high tier of prospects acquiring these 4 players.

He's a 19year old in AA. Holiday ahead of him is older 19 just in A+. De La Cruz is 21 nearly 22months older than Chourio. He was at Rok/A ball vs where Chourio is competing at 19. You could do this all the way down the top 100 list. The season isn't over and it doesn't take much of a run to make his numbers eye popping for his age than they already are. Doesn't this statement mean the Brewers should still be seeking a top 20 prospect for Adames? You know, should Milw be swept all 6 games vs the Reds or lose 5 of 6(lost 5 straight to Pittsburgh that one year just saying) Hope Adames has himself a decent July. Alonso has just a few extra HRs on his statline that keeps him from being meh. Savant has his EV down 3 years straight, max HR distance 3 years straight, his XHR lower than all the other MLB stadiums except the 26 in Mets. He's trending down as he ages.

That's foolish and you know it. Anything less is most definitely happening. Chourio is the #1/2 prospect in baseball. De La Cruz will have graduated by the deadline. There is no way Chourio is even on the table in trade literally barring it being for somebody like De La Cruz/Caroll or Henderson. Mets can ask for that type of return, but teams aren't meeting it. Pittsburgh never got what they asked for Reynolds and then finally extended him. Don't believe the Brewers got what they wanted for Hader, but Arnold made a mistake during a rough month for Hader and pulled the trigger on what was clearly below the return I'd have expected for Hader. Alonso is going to be on track for over 20mil pay next season and .214/.307 is looking just a little bit better than Tellez of 2022. 2020 Alonso played 57games worth .2WAR around what he's tracking at right now. Teams aren't lining up to pay his 20+mil salary next season knowing that line is in play and will demand a cheaper prospect cost.

Jeimer Candelario playing mostly 3b for Washington has experience at 1b with Detroit. He'd be a rental but probably coveted by multiple teams. I'd think if we can get Frelick called up and playing CF with Wiemer to RF that may increase the RF situation. Just posted in NL Central discussion how the team is approaching 9 games vs Cincy 6 vs Atl 4 vs Cubs besides Pit/Phi all right before deadline. That 6 vs Cincy before/after deadline should really set the minds if buying or selling. With the 9 games vs Cin/Atl being the dagger which way.
