Gomez needs to lay off the first pitch for a week. Absolute Garbage he continues to hack at and if a Pitcher doesn't just throw a garbage ball at Gomez to be dumb enough to swing at they really have a problem with scouting Gomez then. Can one look at Gomez's last 15 games first pitch swing stats somewhere? vs. overall on the season? It feels like 90% to me he's swinging at in the last two weeks

Come on, he has played against plenty of left handers in the minors and didn't really fair too well after A ball. Saying he doesn't hit lefties well is a fact, stating he will get better after facing them a couple of time is not fact. Seeing a Starter multiple times in a game, it is a fact batters do better as that pitcher tires. Seeing a pitcher 3-4 times, I am thinking Gennett would take his lumps but also get his hits. Yeah, great he didn't fair to well in the Minors overall vs. LHP. But what do the Majority of LH pitchers in the Minors do? 4/5IP? With the best of them going 6 or more. So again Scooter isn't facing a LH Starter that 4th time around and maybe not even that 3rd time around. Scooter to begin the season was frustrating, he had a hack it pull-swing. Now you watch him willingly take it towards LeftField with his approaches at the plate. If he maintains that Left-Field approach he will be better vs. LeftHand Pitching. That's called Growth and learning and making adjustments. It's that type of improvement in his game that will lead to doing better vs. LHPs when he gets a chance to face them more often. What fact? I don't see one in there. I see no reason to think Scooter would blossom against LHP if he only got to face them. That's pure speculation. OTOH, the Brewers have given him a big job, and he's doing it really well. We don't need him to hit LHPs this year. Let him spend a full MLB year in his relative comfort zone, then maybe think about stretching him. The Fact that Batters improve vs a Starting pitcher the 2nd/3rd and 4th time they get to see him in a game. Scooter Gennett is good at hitting. I keep saying it over and over, but you just can't take his LHP stats seriously until he's actually going against Starting LHP. Not Left Handed Specialists designed to get a LH Batter out like Gennett. His numbers will be better I'd bet at least .650OPS vs LH pitching if he went vs LH Starters and actually got to face them more than 1 time in a game. Batters historically do better the 2nd time and 3rd time around facing starters. So all the haters of Gennett vs LHP keep throwing your numbers of what he's done thus far vs. LHP and ignore that fact.

StL is going to get Price, especially now with the Wacha/Kelly/Garcia injuries. If StL wants Price, there isn't a chance Milwaukee could make a better offer than StL. They just may up the ante trade Wong for Zobrist and improve their batting while they are at it. I really have this feeling that StL hates Milwaukee so much they will do anything to keep us from winning the division over them.

So, I am reading that. 2013 19th selected Marco Gonzales is now being brought up to start for StL. This is the same guy the Brewers were for the most part linked as selecting in 2013 if, if they didn't sign Lohse thus giving up their draft pick. How fun. How pathetic did we look in that 9th inning? ARam looked like Tim Kurkjian attempting to swing a bat and Davis didn't do much better. Clippard threw 90MPH right down the middle/upper outside of the plate and we swung at them like they were blow away Chapman 102MPH FBs. Really a ton of those swings last night, like is Colorado's mound 5feet further away than standard? We sure seemed to swing at pitches like we were standing 5feet closer to the pitcher in how late so so many swings were! I had a terrible feeling Gonzalez was going to shut this team down, I recall late in the season two years ago I think? where Washington pitchers just shut us down like we were AAA batters. Gonzalez I think had a CG shutout. I really look forward to a RHP so Scooter can bat leadoff removing Weeks from the lineup.

I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum. If you can skip your worst SP's turn in the rotation do so. Can we also make mention of the fact that Estrada doesn't have a season with I believe 160IP in a season? Seems to me if you're going to carry on with him, he is the most needed SP to have turns missed in the rotation due to what likely is a 160-70IP limit on him. Meanwhile, your better SPs keep on a 5day schedule of pitching. The AS break is 3 weeks away, Lohse,Gallardo,Peralta, and Garza can have their extra days of rest then. Based on the days off and current rotation lineup you skip Estrada's July 1st start and in keeping with the rotation, July 3rd's off day would then give Garza a skip in the rotation(another IP concern) You then finish the last game before the AS break with Garza and can reshuffle the rotation to begin July 18th.

Hmm, watching him the other day I saw hitters whiffing on his Changeup. Something I always thought was supposed to look like a FB only to be slower and with more sink at the end of the pitch. Wouldn't sitting on Offspeed waiting for meaty FBs up in the zone result in looking stupid on a Changeup that's thrown near the strike zone? Since it resembles a FB initially that they are waiting for?

Well. Is this good for Milwaukee? I don't believe Garcia to be a difference making SP for StL. Now, instead they get to use Carlos Martinez in the Rotation a former believed to be #2 SP ability prospect that was average thus far in the Bullpen this season. Here's my fear, Martinez will slowly excell in what he was originally groomed for and become a low 3ERA SP for StL. Meanwhile, StL makes a trade within the next couple weeks finding a RP to pitch in the 8th inning. (San Diego's trio of Street/Thayer/Benoit?) This newly acquired setup man locks down the 8th inning to the tune ala Wil Smith and now StL doesn't lose but 1 more game they are tied or leading heading in to the 8th inning the rest of the season. Wacha returns in 2weeks giving StL at that point a Starting rotation that has an ERA from here on out under 2.6 and since they pretty much go 7innings apiece. They win 70 more games from here on out on the season. Destroying the NL. This isn't good for Milwaukee sans the 2+ missed starts by Wacha. Just watch.

It happened in the 7th inning. I think the lack of retaliation is due to Lucroy coming through in that situation. If Lucroy doesn't hit that GS and we're still losing the game....I'd certainly have had my RPs prepared in the 7th or 8th innings to bean their guy. In the 7th the order was Parra(bean)/Goldschmidt(bean)/Montero(Bean) or the 8th Prado/Peralta/Owings Easily can retaliate in that 7th inning. And you could easily have done it with Smith. But again, instead we had the lead and now being a division leader you pitch to win the game. We got the ultimate payback without having to throw at them. Anyone watching highlights of this game not fans of Milw and fans against Arizona, I'd be pretty sure we gained some fan appreciation towards us. And Lucroy for sure gained some fans.

He is a name player with a solid history and the best utility guy out there. If the Rays make the decision to trade him they will get more just because the Cardinals and Brewers would likely both be interested. Yep. He'll cost a major prospect because any single Playoff team( and likely ALL) can use him and bid on him. He'll be pursued by 20 clubs if being opened up for trade. A team that can easily spend that 7.5mil next season for his services while using him down the stretch this season, Will give up a top prospect.

I went back to see who else to look at: Johel Atencio a Catcher .306/.680OPS 21% CS rate No Errors thus far in 57 chances Henry Correa a utility thus far 2b/ss/3b .095/.304OPS Nelson Hernandez a 6'2" RHP Gotta like this thus far: 2GS 12ip! 7hits 3ERs 1BB/6Ks Hernandez just may be worth following as well as Atencio besides Mallen/Pierre. Interesting on Hernandez is he was listed at 6'2" when signed and is still at 6'2"...which I would hope from 16-18 he'd grow another inch or 2. That would be awesome if he became a 6'4" pitcher who thus far appears having some control with just the 1BB in 12ip.
