  1. Endaround, what use does Colorado have for Zarraga if Wilson Rosario is their Lucroy? I think some team will overpay for Morneau and give up somebody who will have more value than Zarraga seeing limited action as a Backup....Also, I am glad to see we have a Catcher in the system that we could use if need be(i.e. Lucroy goes down for injury) all the more for Milwaukee to keep him. You only move a 3rd Catcher on your roster if somebody comes calling and really offers something you can't turn down for him. You don't go and make him your offer losing your Backup's Backup. The call for Zarraga has to come from the other team, not us offering him.
  2. Morris Broke a bone in his forearm I believe and is shelved a minimum of 6weeks if not more. Clark fills in his 1b position. Morneau. Well he certainly didn't do anything to help out Pittsburgh last season, He didn't even wind up playing 1b everyday. So I look at his numbers and attach Coors to them. The problem is, Morneau will cost a Prospect of his Coors Numbers value and not the value he's likely anywhere else...which appears a .700-.765OPS batter. I'm definitely for him, but for the right cost. Not to overpay for him. He was worth Alex Presly and a PTBNL. Which have resulted in nothing in truth for a return. Presly is an underachieving below Replacement Level OF. Sounds like Logan Schafer to me. Of course if we got rid of Schafer we'd have to find an OF to replace him. It would potentially be an ideal fit for Colorado with Schafer's Defense ability in the expanse of Coors Field. And of course He likely raises his OPS some .150-.200pts overall making him a .750+ CF with great Defense. It's worked for Drew Stubbs so I'm sure it will work for Schafer. Stubbs btw is heading in to his 3rd year Arb and based on his season this year, Colorado really could look to trade him to and avoid what may turn in to a 8mil Arb cost. This move would open the door then to aggressively seek a 4th OF with a better bat. And I'd target Josh Willingham. OR David Dejesus, who is LH. Neither will require a major piece in trade they are older but have OB ability with some Pop in their bat. How bad would Braun be in CF if Gomez were to go down? That's the only big problem with losing Schafer for the upgrades in Morneau+ Willingham or Dejesus as 4th OF.
  3. Or, they just can't take better approaches at the plate vs. good pitching. Swinging constantly at 1st pitches, pull the ball swings vs. going up the middle or opposite field. It'd be nice if for a full series vs. Cincy or StL they never swung at the first pitch just to give them something else to consider the rest of the season when facing the Brewers. And then attacking hittable pitches the following series. What's the going rate on Strikes anyway? 65%? So at least 1/3 of the time they have the count in their favor with that approach.
  4. Got it TLB. My frustration there wasn't full on target to Adambr2 but for all those that post their comments that are negative towards Segura. I just don't get posting it when the any of the next options aren't worth a lick compared to Segura. Now, posting negatives towards Overbay,Reynolds,Weeks, Gennett, even Schafer or the bullpen guys Kintzler,Wooten I can at least be on board with since there are alternatives to at least argue potentially better options.
  5. So, If I'm reading online correctly, the Yankees have approx 22 players signed at a whopping 15mil or more pricetag. At least 9 of the supposed top 30 in rankings. With their allotment pool they are taking on roughly 13mil in penalties or spending 28mil+ this year in International funds. Let's put that in perspective, if they avg 2.5 mil in allotment yearly and followed the rules, they'd sign roughly 1 or 2 top 30 prospects a year for the next 11 years or maybe 15-16 total top 30 guys in an 11year span. They just got 9 of them in 1 year and the penalty is just 2 years of a 300k limit? So if all things remain the same, the Yankees can just go and sign 8-10 more top 30 guys in 2017 and have 17-19 top 30 kids signed internationally in just a 4 years span....vs. following the rules and it taking 11years to get 16 at best. Somehow the penalty obviously doesn't fit the crime. Since the Yankees went over slot 6 times over(12times over in penalties) they should be penalized for 6-12years with that maximum limit on spending beyond 2014(300k currently)
  6. DFA Segura, Clearly Bianchi/Prince/Herrera can do better! Go ahead you're essentially asking for that with any kind of displeasure with Segura That's not what he said at all. He was expressing frustration, not being over the top. Well, Just giving him something to chew on. He's are SS for the minimum of the next 2 seasons barring being traded away for some other SS. There isn't anyone remotely close to his talent to replace him. I'm just done with posters continuing to talk down about him when he's far and away the best we have to put out there.
  7. EndAround he is expensive for teams that have a $85-100mil payroll that's what we're talking about. Pretty sure it's easy for those teams to just pay 1/5+ of their entire payroll in to 1 player with 24+ other spots to pay on the season. Yeah he's not expensive in value but as just stated, Can you imagine the Brewers taking him in today? Sending Segura to Colorado with Nelson and I don't know 3 more prospects? How's the team payroll look after that?
  8. DFA Segura, Clearly Bianchi/Prince/Herrera can do better! Go ahead you're essentially asking for that with any kind of displeasure with Segura
  9. On the bright side of things with Garza going 9 yesterday, Yo is at least on pace to go 7IP today. Leaving just 1IP for the bullpen to cover unless we comeback. Some much needed Rest for a bunch of Bullpen guys.
  10. As I recall last time Latos faced Milw, we touched him up later in his start. So, here's our chance to ruffle his feathers as previously done!
  11. I'd do it in a heart beat. That's fine with me. The only rationale I can even fathom considering doing that deal is with the plan to trade Price in the Offseason and Replenish the top of the Farm you just destroyed. Otherwise, Milwaukee is commiting to a full on Win it all now approach for 2014/2015 and when 2016 hits? We don't win 65games for the next 4 seasons because we have zero Pitching after Peralta/Garza Gomez/ARam/Weeks are gone leaving us with Gennett,Braun,Lucroy,Davis lineup. and Segura in the 7/8 spot. Nobody's at 1b/3b/CF Man talk about dark days. I hope Price lead us at least to a World Series Appearance much less a win....All it takes is one series that goes to Game 7 before the WS that Price is used to leave him from being Game 1 Starter come WS and a Game 3/4 Starter instead and his advantage youre buying in to is gone. Nevermind how crapped the entire organization is if he goes down with injury. And then all you're left is a QO(if that even exists after 2015)
  12. That is going to be a near impossible trade to pull off for any team. Well, if Justin Upton could get traded, Tulo can be traded. But, his pricetag is at max for any smaller markets so you're looking at the rich Ball Clubs who could afford Tulo. The answer? Dodgers. Pederson, Urias with sending a guy like maybe Guerrero over to Colorado. Gotta remember Tulo is owned 129mil over the next 7 years. I think that trade proposal is hard to pass up if I'm Colorado today. Getting a stat filling OF, a future #1/2 SP and a power hitting 2b.
  13. It's not Lucroy's arm that's the problem at controlling Hamilton, it's Milw's Pitchers that don't hold base runners all to well from getting good jumps. The best defense against Hamilton's havoc on the basepath potential? Just keep him off the basepaths and get him out at the plate. As far as topic goes, I believe there's a wild card for the Central. I don't believe in the Giants, the Dodgers are likely going to beat up on them, as well as Milwaukee when we face them. And Atl/Wash one will beat up the other. Offensively, both teams just don't have it to really go on a stretch of long winning streaks.(of Course as I write Atl is on a 9game winning streak and I wouldn't be surprised if it went nearly to 20games based on the opponents they are facing in this stretch!) I just feel Milw+St Louis or Cincy>than Atl/Wash or LA/SF Don't forget the Cubs just sold out their two best pitchers and that likely results in a .800 win pct for all the NL Central teams vs. the Cubs the rest of the way. Cake-Walk wins.
  14. Exactly. If it was just a team friendly 6year deal then I suppose we really didn't dodge a bullet. But if the contract had 2FA years with serious money involved, wow thanks! Segura is a ML level SS, just not one you're able to feel is AS consideration worthy every year he plays for the next 4-6 years. I feel he's better than his numbers posted thus far, but as mentioned, he's free swinging far too much. And that may tie in to having Gomez on the team. How do you convince someone to not free-swing when Gomez's success is a result of being aggressive? If it works for him, why cant it work for Segura? At some point there has to be a lightbulb that goes off in Segura's head that he has to adjust his approach. It's sad he's regressed so much.
  15. This is an awesome trade by the A's. They just acquired the two biggest names that were developing for trade in Pitching. And it only cost them Russell and a 1st'rd pick that, let's face it, next season=last Arb for Samardzija and after that=1st rd. QO pick so they only delay that 1st rd pick by 2years. Russell? Meh, this is a Resurging SS, day in age. I mentioned that awhile back with Segura, there's gotta be 10-12 SSs hitting ML that began last season/and be here by the end of next season. What does that mean? 10-12 Older/Veteran SSs who's jobs are replaced and they are available on the FA market. A's will just do their moneyball and snag the best one out there for the money I'm sure who likely provides pretty equatable value that Russell will. Straily, I'm sure the A's are thrilled to have dumped. The guy dominates AAA and then blows in the ML. AAA1/2A pitcher it seems. Not even AAAA. I remember when he came out, it sorta was just a okay he's done all he can do numbers-wise in AAA to be worthy of a Rotation spot. Had what? a 12.5/k/9? But in the Majors, he's just a nobody not even filling in enough innings to have some kind of value. As far as the Cubs strategy, look, we all knew Samardzija and Hammell were going to be traded this season with how poor their team is. So why sit there and complain with what they are doing like this shocks you? The Cubs are supremely loaded with Position prospects. The Brewers never had this kind of Position prospects stocked at one time, ever. They'll find a SP when the time is right, and sign another or two when the time is right. The best part of this trade is that the Brewers should dominate the remaining games vs. the Cubs. Pitchers like Wood/Arrieta just aren't going to maintain their positive starts to the season. Where my figure is 36 or more wins left to make the Playoffs, 10-12 of them are going to come from the Cubs alone. Just leaves 24-26 wins out of the other 61 games to attain Playoffs!
  16. So, looking ahead to the schedule, Estrada's next two starts are vs. Philly and Cole Hamels and vs. StL and Adam Wainwright. Considering the Dominating ability of those two pitchers, and Estrada being HR prone, it only makes sense to start Nelson both games and then do what someone else suggested, send him down and call him back up 10days later. You can piggyback the two if Nelson struggles. Which would actually be a good show of what Estrada has out of the bullpen....Does his FB add 2MPH to it which makes his changeup play more effective? And he's not as HR prone because of the added MPH? Meanwhile, you can just give Nelson those starts and tell him, look this is going to be tough matchup for our batters, these are Cy Young ability pitchers and a lot of zeroes are going to get put up on the board by them. Do your best to keep us in the game but don't try to be perfect to matchup up to what took these two pitchers years to reach in ability....You'll get there. No pressure bud.
  17. With every outing Wooten/Kinztler have that aren't good, really makes one want Benoit more and more.
  18. FVB, that offer right there isn't enough talent (present or future) to hold Price's Jock Strap much less land Price. StL can say Oscar Tavares and he alone is a better offer than that proposal. Tampa works with a poor fan base(That's Florida for you all around) Their payroll typically reside with Milwaukee's when it's the 70-80mil. range. Expanding to 90+ just is too much for them to cover based on the lack of attendance they get. That's precisely why Tampa has shipped off their pitchers because they were getting too rich for them and Price is just that, too rich a salary for them to cover and field a team. It's a shame Franchises like Tampa's/Milw even aren't capable to keep a Franchise player they drafted for their career, but at the same time, it does leave it interesting that Franchise Talent like Price/Shields are out there for the taking in trade. Vs. Looking at a Feldman/Hammel as your headline for trade rumors. It certainly keeps forums like this one with plenty to discuss and dream up.
  19. Okay found the BA read: Iglesias threw 88-92 mph at the World Baseball Classic in March 2013, but later that summer when Cuba played the U.S. college national team, he was sitting at 92-95 mph out of the bullpen. Iglesias throws a sweepy but effective 76-81 mph breaking ball that can be a swing-and-miss pitch at times, with erratic but improving control, and with the athleticism that bodes well for his ability to make adjustments. He doesn’t repeat his mechanics, which affects his command, though part of that is by design, as Iglesias (like many other Cuban pitchers) intentionally moves around his arm slot and manipulates the shape and speed of his breaking ball. Since leaving the island, he also showed the Reds some feel for a changeup. Iglesias probably isn’t ready to go straight to the majors, but given his present talent level, Double-A would make sense once he’s in game condition. “He’s a big arm,” said one scout who saw Iglesias recently. “He’s a bullpen guy for me. I don’t see how he’s going to start, but he’s a seventh, eighth-inning kind of guy. He’s up to 95 with a pretty good slider and he’s starting to throw the changeup now with fair feel for it, but I don’t see the command or ability to repeat (his delivery) to start. He has a great arm. I think he’s two years away (from the majors). So they are going to focus him at SP where he's around 88-92FB which may take 2years to reach the Majors. Or they can sit on him at RP and maybe within a year's time join the club but now you're paying really 6years/27mil for ML service for what reads to be a 7th inning/maybe 8th inning guy? Yikes!! Wish there was a piece about what other teams were supposedly in on him. Again, another International signing who's proven talent is elsewhere and he's paid a FA type contract with never playing 1 game in a MLB minor league system. At the age of 24 no less!! Meanwhile, guys who are drafted(let's go ahead and say Carlos Rodon) Are age 21 looking to sign roughly 6mil deal and then have to climb the Minors ladder before they can now begin earning a ML salary of approx. 500k/550k/750k their first 3 seasons. Let's fast track Rodon-6mil today. 2016 Opening day starter(age 23)-2018 pre-arb=1.8mil more by age 25 or 7.8mil total before he reaches Arb. Iglesias gets close to the same signing bonus, and is earning a ML paycheck once he has a work visa. By the time he makes his first ML appearance/ he'll likely have made more than what Rodon will earn for his first 3 years playing for the White Sox. Then a Performance-based Arb sets in where Rodon can either make money less than what Iglesias is guaranteed already/ the same/ or some more...but again based on performance with each year. I just have a problem with this setup. I truly hope this kid never makes it as a Starter and fizzles out as nothing more than a Manny Parra type RP that the Reds wasted 27mil on.
  20. Wow. 7years/27mil? at age 24? No clue where he stands for what his pitches are. But at 5'11" and just 165? The Reds are paying him nearly 4mil per year, which as a Starter isn't all that bad if he pans out. But as a RP? It's one thing if he turns in to a quality 8th inning/Closer within a year but if he's a RP and doesn't make the team by this time next year and is just an Arm in the Bullpen. What an Overpay!! I don't think I've ever seen his name before, so this is just confusing. He has to have 93+MPH FB with something else that's just filthy to really condone this signing. Any insight?
  21. H&T You're right in that I'm basing my 3b opinion on nothing but conjecture I've read as posted just above. I just read in to that as being a strong indication he's not going to play SS. What is it I read previously about HS/College players. That typically the SS is being played by the most athletically talented player on the team, but when they move to Pro-ball a more destined position is where they are placed based on their gifts/tools/talents/projection. All I can say is Milwaukee seems destined to put in 3+mil for this kid. His SS position would immediately be blocked by the future of Arcia playing SS everyday. Based upon the fact he reads as having a strong arm/with power in his bat, and the organization desperately needs a 3b for the future with Above Avg talent, I really assume Lara's signing when done is geared towards him moving and playing 3b. Now, Gatewood's selection may add a little less apparent to that statement, and maybe that also has the rumored 1b/Outfield tie in to where he'll play vs. just sticking to 3b. Since like me, BA can look at what's in the system today and to the future and say, Gatewood blocks Lara at 3b as Arcia blocks Gatewood at SS so, we now peg him to be a 1b or Right Fielder. (Thus far Gatewood has DH'd and played 3 games at SS) I could easily see the future playing out as Arcia 2b/Gatewood SS/Lara 3b. Who knows? It's all so early, I pegged him at 3b because doesn't that make his signing more exciting to you vs. if you now say he's going to stick at SS? Well, Great, we need a 3b and instead we have 3 SSs to look forward to joining the team in 3-5years.
  22. Actually the way I see it STL by the time a trade for Price will be made will be fighting for a WC spot and will be more that 8-9 games out of 1st. Just look at the 7 games they play prior to ALL start break. PIT has proven they can beat up on the Cards, and so have we. Due to this I see the Cards looking more future this year than anything. They have to keep their farm system if they expect to be able to compete with us and the reds and Pitt in the many years ahead. I would trade Nelson and the farm for Price. Look at it this way, we will have Hellweg still next season, and we just had a terrific draft that could make our farm way better than it is currently, all the positions in the line-up are filled for the long term with young players except 1B. I'd trade the entire farm for price, and I would trade Estrada and Kintzler for a good 1B man. Have fires as the back up SP in Nashville and call up Jeffress, healthy Thornburg to the pen, then the Brewers would have just upgraded the Rotation with a true Ace, and the bullpen big time, and we can start thinking WS. That is if you haven't already. Go all in for Price. My reasoning that StL trades for Price is because A. They have the valuable prospects Tampa would at least ask for. B. since they are 6.5games back of Milw/at or near WC spot, adding Price would only secure a much more likely run the last 70games of the season or so to make the Playoffs. C. StL will have Price next season (to go and win 110games)and then give him a QO which for how they draft means a top 100 Prospect after 1 year. I really think Marco Gonzales is in St Louis' rotation right now as a showcase for Tampa to decide on for a Price trade. Thinking in lines that Trade A includes Martinez or Miller/Piscotty/Kaminsky Or trade B offers Taveras/Gonzales plus PTBNL C/B prospect depending on StL outcome for this season.
  23. I don't feel like Jungmann is an attractive option for a pitcher at Coors. He just reads as a weak #3/Strong #4 which playing for Colorado mean 6.5ERA in Coors and a 4ERA on the Road. Or worthless. Pitching addition for them. I really feel like Morneau's bat an 1+years left on his contract will command a team's top 1-3 prospect. And that some team will give them that prospect. For Milwaukee we're looking at what? Nelson, Taylor, Arcia, Coulter to be the headliner in the trade for Morneau. Nelson to me by all accts. is now untouchable in any trade scenario. The idea of Morris being included in Trade doesn't work well since Colorado has a AAA 1b putting up better than Morris numbers with a better hit tool than Morris. So Rox wouldn't want him in a trade. I just don't know if Taylor,Arcia, or Coulter are big enough names for the Colorado front office to accept to headline a trade for Morneau being that any of those 3 are more than 2 years from truly being added to the ballclub. Some other team will make an offer with a prospect that is at or near ML ready that will trump Milwaukee's offer. I don't see us having the prospect after Nelson to acquire Morneau. We should have just paid him 8-9mil a year to play 1b this season for 2 seasons with the 3rd year mutual option.
  24. But, 7 of those games were vs. Colorado a terrible pitching team. Any hitter's impressive numbers of late when it comes vs. Colorado for Fantasy I take in with a cautious but. I mean Segura hit 2HRs in that game in Coors, I'm sure his numbers in the last 9 games also looks appealing due to that power output. I believe in Braun, Just the small sample size of late I wouldn't put to much in to it due to the opponent. It's great Wang got 4 outs in 3batters faced. Maybe it'll encourage Ron to try him more in games we're down. Like rather than having used Kinztler in a terrible 8th inning outing, he will just use Wang to complete the game.
