  1. A one and Done magic season player by Headley 2012 no less(lets just assume 2011+12 had PED usage by many, including what was it 3 other Padres?) The haul the Padres could have gotten for Headley in 2012 could have been Franchise changing and now, this. A likely AAAA INF and a potential P but with an equal amount of flameout potential. I'm sure the Yanks will get some better batting lines than what Headley puts up in Petco. So I consider a big win in trade the Yankees.
  2. So are we talking about a kid who may make the Team by age 18/19 potentially? I got a feeling that 3rd swing was the one that produced the Bernie Slide Ball. That swing is the one that has me drooling about his potential.
  3. Right!! Exactly, Lewis you want to be upset? I think all batters should bunt the opposite way if a shift is on and take the free base. Eventually, that shift that's being employed against batters will be stopped. It used to be more useful against Power Hitters but guys like Overbay/Rasmus not known for Power need to just exploit it. Get onbase frustrate the pitcher you're on base who say like Lewis, are now upset about that AB and groove a FB right down the Middle to the next batter. Also figure creating some second guessing on the Manager's part to employ the shift vs. just letting you pitch to the batter and get him out like your paid to do.
  4. Really wish we has somebody to go get at 1b that would be worthwhile. Can we just play Lucroy at 1b the rest of the season and remove Overbay+Reynolds? Bring up Zarraga and have Maldy and him Catch? I get that we believe Lucroy's Bat doesn't play up to 1b standards but then again, look at Victor Martinez whose slg is .100 above his career norms now that he's strictly DH'ng and not Catcher/DH.
  5. Agreed on the please don't Pin ^^^^^
  6. What an odd situation with Aiken. I can't fully tell what's going on, but supposedly he may possess an abnormal UCL. And I guess the Astros fear injury because of it so they reduced their offer. The big problem in this is that they had a deal arranged between Aiken and their 5th rd draft selection Nix who is represented by the same "Agent" as Aiken. Now because Aiken doesn't sign, they also don't sign what was arranged deal with Nix who has no problems to not go through with the signing. I'm sorry but that is wrong on the Astros part. They had a deal in place and pulled it back on Nix. They should suffer the consequence of that arranged deal and sign Nix as agreed upon since he has no health reasons to pull it back on the Astros part. It's just absurd that Nix's deal was contingent on Aiken signing for 6.5mil or less. I'm going to guess the deal was arranged when the Astros handed in their Selection of Aiken. Probably taking him when they worked with Close that they would select Nix later paying 1.5mil to him doing so. If they had taken say Kolek or Rodon the idea to sign Nix was likely gone. What kind of Case can Nix file a suit against the Astros?
  7. Does having 7SPs but only getting 5SPs actual ML starts a great idea? Yeah I said a use for Nelson because to me, it's overkill to have Moore/Cobb/Archer/Odorizzi after Price leaves with Alex Colome/Taylor Guerrieri/Enny Romero/Nate Karns to fight off for #5 spot. That is not including the idea that Tampa acquires a Potential #1-3 SP like Walker is when Price is dealt. What good does Nelson do for them? They have a clear need for an OF/SS/1b/C/2b and they would trade away Zobrist to acquire Nelson Because they can use Nelson? It's blatantly dumb to me for them to not seek out an Offensive Prospect for Zobrist because Nelson IS a Prospect as are all those in line for the #5 SP job Tampa has. All those guys have to create a value to be worth something in trade. Tampa can't just trade Zobrist for Nelson and then proceed to ask LA to give them Joc Pederson for Nelson. Or Austin Meadows for Nelson. Ask for Jorge Soler for Nelson. The point is, if they want to get some punch in that Offense, when they trade Zobrist/Price asking for a Pitching Prospect like Nelson is a losing situation imo. Because Teams aren't going to trade their top Offensive Hitting Prospects to take Nelson/Colome/Romero/Karns/Guerrieri. They'll ask for Moore/maybe Archer or Cobb(though his value is down I believe ever since that bean ball) How does that work for Tampa? If those newly added SPs replacing Price/Archer in that scenario fail? Great, you found 1 more Offensive bat (maybe 2) while trading away what had been a strength pitching? Zobrist won't be coming to Milwaukee even if Nelson is the offer it just make no sense. As to the Milw with Prospects that rate above a ML Avg ballplayer. Go ahead name them off for me at the moment. Maybe I should state what a above ML Avg ballplayer would be which to me is a Starter who offers constant 2.5+WAR seasons over at minimum 4 years of his 6 years team control.
  8. I see nothing wrong with that rant. Unless you hate the truth then I guess there is something wrong with the rant. It was not a good start by Walker and when you are the #1 prospect for a team and you are a highly regarded prospect like it or not there is going to be more pressure on that prospect. He gave up 1ER in 5ip pulled after 83 pitches. Does 1 more ip without giving up a run please him? Is the lack of Ks what he's upset about? I don't really get why he even ranted about Walker. He's 21 and has had success at the ML level aside from his BB rate. I don't think Mclendon gets youth and it improving. The man you're looking to acquire in Price, wasn't even a SP in ML at Walker's Age. Then in his first year being one put up numbers that Walker's resemble today. Near 4BB/9 under 8Ks/9 as well as less than 6ip per start. Walker is 2 years ahead of Price on his career curve under team control for 5more years-pre extension. But go ahead Mclendon run Walker out of town for an Ace this year+next while Walker grooms himself in to an Ace by the end of next season meaning you pushed away 4 years+ of an Ace because of a lack of 1year's patience.
  9. Can add this to that Mariners-Rays rumor...from my ESPN fantasy note on Walker: Walker's recent start for Triple-A Tacoma provoked a harsh response from manager Lloyd McClendon, who was displeased that Walker could only muster five innings, the Seattle Times reports. Spin: Walker, who was sent down just to get a start during the All-Star break, allowed one run on four hits and a walk in five innings with one strikeout. "Well, I guess I see things differently than most people," McClendon said. "I don't see that as a good outing: five innings, 83 pitches and one strikeout, that's not a good outing for me. And I'm not trying to bash the kid, but how we go about our business and our level of expectations from the minor leagues all the way up to the big leagues, it's got to change. Five innings, 83 pitches and one strikeout - that's not a good outing, I'm sorry. Not for me. And you can write it. I don't give a (expletive). I'm sure his agent will be calling mad at me, but we got to do better." Walker is expected to start the fifth game after the All-Star break, though the Mariners have not recalled him yet. His name has come up in trade talks, as well. I know Mclendon isn't the one who has say for trading away Walker, and in fact to me should actually put him on somewhat a hot seat for this rant on the Team's #1 prospect. But who knows? This could end with Walker's agent pushing the issue to trade Walker away? I don't know how Seattle could do the trade due to supposedly being near their max in payroll. Another thing is they're 8games back of Oakland, 6.5 back of Anaheim. Acquiring Price just to get a wildcard and then watch Felix pitch the Wildcard game, only to lose and get zero use from Price in the Playoffs? How could Jack Z, maintain his job as GM after that fiasco? How about Seattle having two desirable SS/2b prospects to sign Cano and then seeing both prospects Miller/Franklin struggle? So you have a need for Zobrist at SS? Or are you acquiring Zobrist to play OF/1b? I just think Seattle could dangle one of their SS(Franklin) And acquire a more impactful bat than to lose Walker,Franklin plus for Price. and still have huge problems offensively after Cano/Seager. As for Milwaukee and TB, if Zobrist would play 1b, then he's a great bat to target. He bats from both sides. The problem is, we have to package prospects to get him or part with Nelson(if Tampa even has use for him) Zobrist is going to net Tampa a heckuva prospect. I don't believe Milwaukee can beat the multiple number of team offers that are going to be out there for him. Just based on the fact that after Nelson, we don't have a prospect that ranks as above Avg future ML. And if that's the case, if you're Tampa you're getting more bust potential from Milw than a Prospect that figures to make a ML roster and be useful and/or impactful.
  10. MLBTR wrote a piece about the 1b trade market http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/trade-market-for-first-basemen-3.html Honestly, I get why Melvin is more than likely settled with the platoon we have. It's pretty awful. I read the comments below and of course a Pirate fan chirps in how they wish they'd just kept Garrett Jones vs. acquiring Ike Davis, so yeah, that wasn't a missed pickup. The problem at 1b had to deal with Hart not signing a team deal. Morneau signed the same day Hart did. Morse after a -1.5WAR season in 2013 still commanded 6mil from the Giants(figuring you have to beat that offer) Would you have done a 6.5-7.5mil deal for Morse for age 32 season after a -1.5WAR season? One where he's never been a positive defensively so you're only relying on his bat that in his previous 190 games had 30 2bs/31HRs? Aside from 2011(magical year for many including Braun right?) He was a career .8WAR over 8 seasons? That's worth over 6mil for 1year? No, you don't do that deal, it was bound to blow up in your face....Somehow the Giants are getting better production from him than his career norm....I'm sure historic numbers will return him back to his 0-1WAR player he is. Loney? Who knows with him? Maybe he just wanted to remain on a contender. I think the problem with him was 3year deal. w/o having a DH spot to use him in years 2 or 3 if Morris gave them ample reason to promote him. The only 1b I'm interested in is Yonder Alonso. I'd really give up both Estrada/Jungmann for him plus Morris. He's had success and I really feel that ballpark limits him offensively. Prior to this season he at least put up over 100 on OPS+ Low strikeout rate, I just feel this is the kind of guy who can really turn things around, and maybe a trade to a team in the hunt for a Division with a HR friendly ballpark will be the kind of spark he needs to begin hitting again. You remove Overbay(maybe he's traded to SD to finish the season for them at 1b) and Reynolds can platoon while being a backup 3b for Ramirez. And meanwhile you have your 1b for next season. I'd overpay in trade for that at the moment if need be.
  11. I made mention of this in last year's international thread, in that, I'm all for a 1 and done signing if the individual just oozes talent/potential. Especially if it exceeds in upside what the other options possess. Stars/Super Stars can carry a Franchise. I'm happy to have a Super Boom potential guy signed. All I've read is he's already shown power to hit HRs in games already. That's a fact, not a different prospect who was say at the bottom of a top 30 who has potentially projection to hit for power. Nevermind also being able to actually hit. I'll take Lara and his already possessing Power and just hope the hit tool advances enough to make it for a big cost. I get it's a 1 succeeds vs. trying to find 1 out of 3-7 to succeed. But we're talking about a 16yr who already has something figured out which means he's ahead of the curve from winding up a success story, vs. winding up a bust. It's also a positive to read he has a decent arm and fielding. If I browse MLB.com's top 100 prospect ranks and see their grades via tools, I'm looking at Lara's grades like this: Hit 60 Power 60 Run 50 Arm 55 Field 55 Now go through their top 100 prospects and the grades and here's one: Addison Russell SS Hit 60 Power 60 Run 55 Arm 60 Field 55 Russell is #11 on their top 100 list. Another: Hit 55 Power 40 Run 60 Arm 45 Field 55 Who's that? Alen Hanson #53 on MLB's prospect list. To me I'm thinking we are staring at a top 15-50 prospect down the road in Lara if his grades hold up. And if he exceeds them? Look Out! I feel far more comfortable with this 1 single signing vs. say last year's duo additions. Mallen's grades were of essentially below avg today to being average in the future with just his arm having future above avg. That must look like 40-50s across the line with 55/60 in Arm grade. Pierre as well had grades of below avg all around today, and future grade being avg at best with no tool being above. So far I stare at both having under .650 OPS Mallen 21Errors in 35games Pierre though a positive is he has 3HRs 6SBs only 2Errors(but from the OF position so less is to be expected) Does it mean anything at this point? No. But I'll be interested to follow Lara's Power and if he proceeds through the DSL when he gets there quicker than Mallen or Pierre. For sake of reference, Arcia played 64games in the DSL with an .845OPS and only 15Errors total. More BBs than SOs and 6HRs. Mallen and Pierre have some work to do to get on that pace.
  12. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/2950837/mind-blown-o.gif HAHAHAHA Become Sellers? That's preposterous! Mark A is currently writing you a letter requesting you jump off the team bandwagon and go jump on the Cubs or Astros bandwagon. They have your Prospects to drool over. Trade your ML Starters for Prospects when you are leading the division? Because you're attaching the 3vs.3 Rotation matchup as being 100% certain doom and gloom. I mean, lets just ignore the what? Gomez/Gennett/Braun/Lucroy/Ramirez .300ish BA for those pitchers to face. Along with Khris Davis to supply the occasional HR. Maybe Segura turns himself around, rallying behind his son's death? Yeah Pitching helps win Championships, but so does offense. Our top 3, Lohse,Peralta, Garza imo are very capable to go 7ip giving up 1ER-3ER. That's one mistake pitch away with a runner on base to overcome the aces you fear. The other problem in your indication to acquire frontline Pitching prospect: Off the top of my head here's some top ranked pitching prospect names and tell me how they've done: Shelby Miller Trevor Bauer Jacob Turner Carlos Martinez Dylan Bundy Tajian Walker Zach Wheeler Archie Bradley Gerrit Cole Tyler Skaggs. The only true top notch prospect that to me has lived up to the billing is/was Jose Fernandez. Gerrit Cole has been okay but he's not Ace, I wouldn't be scared going vs. him and Lohse/Wily/Garza going against him that day. There's just no reason to sell really anybody that is on this team this year and beyond. The players you could sell would be Weeks/Reynolds/Overbay since their contracts expire at the end of the season. You can add Gorzo and Estrada to the list since Gorzo will be gone and you have the Leftys to make him expendable and Estrada is essentially banished to the Bullpen now that Nelson is up. But that is it, you don't sell anybody else from the Roster in this season. You only look at selling in the offseason at this point. And if you've followed my posts, you know I'm a Prospect fan too and a guy who seeks younger players to add to the system for aging/replaceable vets. But the Crew sit in such a great position and honestly, are a RH Bullpen piece away to me from controlling the division. Would I like a 1b addition? Yeah but they also bat 7th in the lineup. A Bench Bat? That'd be nice too, but I think shoring up the 7th/8th RH RP is the best addition the team can make to continue this run.
  13. He really has turned it around since the first month of the season. And that's one of the reasons I am hopeful that Jean Segura will turn it around, too. You have to believe seeing Khris turn it around will give him some hope. I don't know if it's something Khris did on his own. I will hope that Jerry Narron had something to do with it so he can take the same approach with Jean. Now would be a great time for Jean to get a hit. Give us a lead, and give Jean a mental boost. The difference between Davis and Segura is that after that 1st month, Davis began taking more pitches that were out of the strike zone. Having a good batting eye. Segura just doesn't have a clue right now how to lay off anything and make pitchers throw him strikes in the actual strike zone
  14. Kinztler has no stats whatsoever that give a reason to keep him on the roster. 32.1Ip 42Hits...too many 8BBs(okay) 17Ks? for a RP that's sad, 13inherited runners/7scored. 5.2Fip and over 1.5Whip.... He serves no purpose to remain on the roster and should be gone yesterday
  15. I would gladly take Ramirez for Estrada. That's what I'm waiting for in a deal. Erasmo has that Will Smith, Thornburg, Gorzo Emergency Starting pitching ability that you attempt to turn in to a quality Bullpen arm. His BB/9 is low in AAA. He's young and a higher velocity FB than Estrada that with another tick or two from the Bullpen may allow him to play up to ability(like Smith) He's regressed as a Starter and to me Estrada can still provide quality Starts, maybe moreso with Seattle as his home so it can make some sense for Seattle to get a back end #5 SP that is more reliable than what they have, at a cost of now important prospects. Ramirez has almost been exclusively a SP minors/ML club. 2012 was his rookie year and I'm adding up: 8appearances 12IP 9hits 3R/3ER 1HR 4BBs 7Ks as a RP. I'm all for that type of pitching from an added RH RP who can go long. Especially because he's younger than Estrada with more Team Control. I hope this scenario plays out.
  16. Losers of 8 of 9 The Offense scored 2runs or fewer in 6 of those 9. 4 runs twice and 7 runs being the outburst(5in the first inning) 24runs total In that same span the Pitching in 9 games has held their opponents to 4 runs or less 6 of the games(usually the benchmark to win games) Total given up: 45runs. -19 in 2 games and it's 26 in the other 7games. I just don't know how to take it. If the Pitching is keeping you in the games 66% of the time you should win more than 1 game. So, maybe there's light at the end of this stretch. Just the Bats waking up, but this game clearly shows how asleep they are. The biggest problem batters have been Gomez, Segura, Braun at swinging so early in the count. Now, Gomez and Braun are .300 hitters but Segura at .232 with just a .266 OB. I'm at the point right now where you trade for a SS and sit him. We're talking as bad or worse looking than Yuni!! At the Plate.
  17. Exactly what I was thinking too, I've been telling the haters, look we face bad teams too, these are series we win which means above .500. I don't know what to say right now. We're on our way to be 3hit CG Shutout by a pitcher who just came off a 10 hit 117pitch outing and he's on the road? Maybe Pitchers should throw 115+ Hernandez is making a case they come back stronger...I always figured it the other way.
  18. Hernandez last start: 5.1 10hits 5Runs 117! pitches vs Pitts(a team turning it around) Today he's thus far 6ip 64 pitches 1ER 3hits vs Milw a team on the decline! You have got to stop with all this running in to tough pitching talk when here's a number 5 Starter tossing his best stat-line of the season at you who only sees the 7 inning every 7 starts this season. Well he's on pace to pitch 10 innings and maybe he'll sweat by then!
  19. I looked. I looped with Narveson one day and he proclaimed Fielder has a six pack...Certainly appears like he's 10lbs or 15lbs away from honestly having them. I'm surprised by his physique, I didn't think he was as solid and am surprised. In a good way, since I enjoyed Fielder as a Brewer.
  20. Okay yet here's Price staring at what many are predicting to be 20mil for his 4th year in arb. What I think you're failing to see, is I'm proposing arb based on what a player has accomplished at his age. This isn't some okay 1st year arb he gets 3mil 2nd year he gets 6-7mil 3rd year 11mil. I'm thinking a player could compare himself to say Mike Trout and say I'm worth 32mil at age 25. If his numbers back that up what will the controlling team do? Offer him 10mil and hope they win? No, a Player like Mike Trout(who's going to make 33mil at age 25) Would be able to just say my numbers say for my age I have a Mike Trout career going and he made 33mil at age 25-26. So I'm submitting my asking price to be 33mil. This is why the Team Controlling this young player will seek to buy him out before Arb hits. If you're opposed to the age 29 team controll then I suppose in argument we could take this idea and push it back 1 year to suit you, as you are speaking on behalf of the Players. So age 24 a Player goes to Arb. Age 28 he's a Free Agent. Does that suit you? I made it age 29 because Drafting a College Senior who's turned 21 going on 22 only gives a team 7/8(depending on Birthday)total years of team control. Making it 28 and now it's 6/7years. Figure that's a little unfair to the team drafting a College player. I just look at Arb and how they come to there figures and so often it reads well there really isn't much to compare so and so heading in to their 1st year of Arb for his age. If it's completely Aged Based, well everyone has an aged 25 year, age 26 year and so on. The history of baseball has players laid out that we compare the best of today to vs. what the best of yesterday did at the same age. That's what I want to get to. Everyone can go to BREF and look up any of today's players and see a list of Comparison of players who put up similar stats at this player's age. For Trout is shows Vada Pinson at age 20 and Frank Robinson at age 21. I'm going to guess some mad genius math whiz can come up with some kind of formula to tie in all the greats of yesteryear/yesterday/ and today for what they've done by their age and what kind of pay that should come to in today's market. It's not how the old Arb works it would be different when this new formula comes out to figure out a proper set in pay. Now when that happens, a controlling team can likely have their own number cruncher, have their own projections what age 25-29 might bring while Mr. Trout plays at age 21 and 22 and decide to make their stud player a contract he can't turn down. And think about this for a moment. Why wouldn't they and the Player make some kind of Contract away from Arb? The Player knows if he follows along the age 21-24 pay guidelines he's worth a certain amount. Meanwhile Ownership looks at what he may project in cost age 25-28 and make an offer when the player is 21/22 to try to pay some more upfront(say 2mil age 22, 7mil age 23, 12mil age 24 to shave some money off what Mr. Trout would seek ages 25-28. Rather than pay him 30mil age 25, 33mil age 26, 35mil age 27 and 38mil age 28, They instead pay more upfront and shave let's say 6mil per year of my numbers. Since we are in a day and age where Contracts are being offered before Prospects ever see an AB in the Majors, I'm far certain, a team that wants to keep Mr. Trout without breaking their payroll bank will offer a contract at age 21-23 that he just can't really refuse. Since he's going to make so many millions more up front. No doubt his Agent has the said Math Genius also at his ready to crunch the numbers and projections to what Mr. Trout may get vs. this offer to at least make sure his decision isn't foolish and the Team's offer is pretty solid.
  21. I don't think you made things any easier, and I don't think the Union would ever go for this. You just cost Mike Trout how many tens of millions? From where I'm looking, less than 20mil. Of course I don't know how the Arb money works out but I'd think he'd have a strong case to get a ton of what he's asking for. And I could also say that a team is free to sign a Player to a contract before they reach Arb or FA. In which case Trout has lost nothing. There could also be say a special 23/24 Aged Request for Arb by a player if he's performed to a special level such as Trout and be granted Arb ahead of age 25. This whole idea would change the spectrum of normalcy in Arb. Rather than trying to be paid to players like so and so at such point in a career, it can easily be tied to what a player has accomplished by his age. This could also likely be figured out over players of history to deem what kind of money he can look forward to. Since it's tied to Age and not Team control regardless of age. Nelson being 25 and looking for his first year of Service time. Nelson would just go straight to Arb next season and he'd get money based on what he's done for his age. Maybe it's 1mil or 2.5mil? So in his case it's more than he will make today. The Union would have to figure that in that Trout's case is the exception. Player's like Price who are drafted out of college, (and he made it to Tampa quick) and having to wait in his case til he was 26 for his first Arb year...He would have had Arb 1 year prior and be on his 2nd Arb year instead. So he in fact Gains off of my idea. The only real players that are hurt are ones that make it at age 18,19 and I guess 20. But as I'm thinking about this, they can just have that granted age 23/24 request to receive Arb a year or two earlier due to special Performance circumstances. My guess is a Team will just wind up offering that player a Trout like contract around age 22 or 23 to forgo this. It's great you picked out a Player who's been worth 25WAR in under 3 total seasons of Playing time. Or somebody on track for a clear-cut HOF to make an argument against the idea. The one single man who I'm going to take a guess likely, has the highest WAR in all of Baseball since his ML debut? Is he going to be the one single reason to not want some idea like mine? Because guys like Nelson/Polanco/Singleton/Springer who are all older than Trout, get shafted because the once in a generation player Trout would get screwed in this idea? Nevermind the dozens getting screwed every year now all for Team control(Trout was one himself) or avoid Super 2 status? No one idea will wind up playing out perfect, but I think mine would begin to be some sort of improvement?
  22. I am really getting mad at MLB's rules for Arb and Super 2 because what it does to Prospects that should be playing on a ML team and instead, are being forced to continue playing in AAA doing no good for themselves or the ML that could use him today. The list is growing yearly and this has to be addressed. How many players/Teams can we list being squeezed by Super 2 and Team control status? Nelson-Brewers Polanco-Pirates Springer+Singleton-Astros Tavaras for StL KRIS BRYANT!! I mean wow!!! And the rumor is he's not going to be called up at all this year by the Cubs! 20games 8HRs over 1OPS which is right on point for his career in the Minors and he's not going to play for the Cubs? Yeah keep using Mike Olt and his .147BA or Luis Valbuena who's 28 and having the best season in his lifetime(that of a .260/.344/.427/.771 slash) It's such an injustice to be a fan and be forced to wait months for players you know belong on the Major League team Weeks-Months Ago all because of team control verbage and/or Super 2 Status? Here's an idea. All teams have Team Control of their Player to Age 29. And Arb hearings begin at Age 25. You draft and Develop a young player you are rewarded. It's clear cut that way no delaying a ready to play Prospect. In fact you likely begin your Prospect's career too soon, but hey, you make all fans happy regardless because they get to watch this stud prospect play for their home team. Not seek out the box score of some small town minor league team to see how they did. Will this be bad for HS kids who are drafted and make the team by age 20, having to wait 5 years to an Arb hearing? I don't know. How about we make a set structure for years played in ML to age to fix some of that. It'd go something like this: 20-1st year-500k 21-1st year-500k 2nd year-600k 22-1st year-500k 2nd year 650k 3rd year 1mil 23-1st year-550k 2nd year 700k 3rd year 1.1mil 4th year 2mil 24-1st year 600k 2nd year 750k 3rd year 1.25mil 4th year 2.5mil 5th year 4mil Age 25 Arb. These kids get signing bonuses when drafted...if they are elite prospects I'm sure the majority of them were 1st rd selections meaning they are likely already millionaires. Meanwhile a ML baseball team's payroll structure is set, Team control is set. And the Players also know they will go to FA at an age just beyond prime so they are maxxing their value to do so. Why does the pay structure increase for a prospect as they age? Because of Peak age performance when they are playing. Also, to increase the Major League ballclub's likelihood to call them up since if they hold the Prospect down at age 22 vs. age 23 they aren't saving a whole lot of money doing so since they will only pay 150k difference, since the initial rate increases for that prospect's first year. It just seems all too simple to me and we instead have this complicated guess work system in regards to team control and Super 2 grey area! Enough Already!! I want my team to have the best Player on the field at their position Starting, not having to wait weeks/months/ all season(in Bryant's case) just so ownership can save some millions down the road and/or be able to own a player a year longer.
  23. I think I read on MLBTR that Parra isn't in discussion to be traded. He may not be a big name but he actually is. Because he's a Gold Glove winner(the Year Braun had deserving Stats to be) Arizona would be foolish to sell low on him. At Minimum I'd say he's easily worth Jungmann in trade Probably + with Jungmann. Briggs, why would Oak/Balt go and pick up Weeks if Prado can be had? If I'm them, I'd trade for Prado first and Weeks would only be an option if Prado was traded away already....Same thing goes in line with Zobrist. Those two are going to be sought after well before Weeks is. Unless Milwaukee has a far to low a price tag in what they ask for Weeks.
  24. I'd say Segura, Nelson no doubt due to his strong HR/9 rates. Then? You figure Taylor has to be a part of the trade too. Or, how about we offer Colorado Braun and Segura for Tulo and Charlie Blackmon?
