  1. That doesn't make sense to me. Couldn't the defense just change what coverages they run at the various time interval and then Rodgers is back to guessing what they will do? I'm thinking this is a Rodgers diagnosis thing and experience. Film study that like with a Romo diagnosing a play saying the defense is going to do this correctly. I dunno how it works, and clearly it doesn't result 100percent of the time him making the perfect reads on what the defense is doing. It's just I never had a clue on Defense their play coverage adjusts as time is winding down on playclock.
  2. If it is a true straight up platoon, what % of ABs will Severino get...15%, 20%....? Kinda inferred towards this in a different thread but Narvaez had 445PAs out of what you could assume 685? PAs a Bottom 5 batter receives. But that is ignoring some fact with Pina's tenor and reliability defensively to shed PAs from Narvaez. But if you also look up and down many teams stats a split a little shy of 500-200 seems the norm with potential for more PAs going to Severino. So you are looking towards 30pct if both Narvaez and he share PAs and no other C possibility enters the fray(Feliciano? a mid season trade?)
  3. I'll be different in saying I didn't like Dune at all. I would have walked out of the theater if it weren't for the fact my daughter sleeping sitting next to me. Last movie I went to that I walked out of was Anaconda. Venom was worthwhile for a theater go to. The end is what you want see to guarantee another ticket bought on the next Venom movie in theaters. Jungle Cruise was it? Duane Johnson movie. I'd call a not must see movie.
  4. I am of the thought currently that it is a censor on the word shot. Can't let the overly sensitive feel insecure because the word shot triggers them. Must be a cancel culture MSM doing.
  5. In other news, I watched the game via NFL app and one of the announcers made an explanation about running the playclock down to 5 secs or less to actually present a purpose. Now, it's always been explained in that Rodgers was reading the defense. I had never heard it explained that a defense as the play clock winds down have adjustments in their coverage. something like at 6 secs left they run one type of coverage, at 3 secs they run one different than at 6. Rodgers running the clock down basically reduced the amount of coverages he was being shown. Sorta like he was forcing the defense to play what he wanted them to play was the take I got out of it. And now theres mildly less hate for the constant run the playclock to near 0 in the 1st or 3rd quarter and call a timeout.
  6. Just remember his last 3 seasons was playing with Orioles pitching staffs.
  7. For the life of me I cannot find a single team that would part with somebody with a bad contract who could still play JBJ in their OF. Nothing lines up in terms of what the Brewers could take back while having some usage for that player. Just going to swallow that mistake and hope to get any value from him it seems to me. Guess in your most ok scenario that could be having all three of Cain, Yelich, and Taylor down to injury.
  8. In comparing Rogers to Houser you are comparing a rookie to emerging SP to a player strictly a RP 3 years after they were a rookie themselves. Then you add Garver who has 1 season's worth of PAs in the 384 games he could have played in. add to that it is approximately 8.5Mil spent on the duo over Houser just this season. I mean Houser equals Taylor as a RP. Just spend 8.5mil on a Catcher or imo elsewhere. The trade makes no sense without a top 100 if not top 75 prospect coming back to Milwaukee based on the money alone. Since that won't be happening, then maybe you send them JBJ to offset the salaries. That is still an awful trade on Milw's side. You completely remove any upside to the future and settle for just above Replacement. Narvaez 445PAs last year. You're basically leaving 300+PAs for a backup C. And Again trading a SP that has better RP #s for a 1year rental RP, plus spending 8.5mil to do so. And as I'm writing this, I see we did the right thing, saved over 6mil and signed Pedro Severino to back up Narvaez next season while keeping the better RP who just happens to be a good SP.
  9. There was no way Cook was going to take that run in for a TD. He'd let up right there at 7. Douglas Im not sure what he was doing. If he was doing what he should have been thats likely an Int. Seems this game every missed impactful play was accumulated by Green Bay. To lose only by 3 is something else considering what this team is working with on the road.
  10. That catch even the announcer called the blantant use of push off for his separation to be wide open.
  11. On Twitter people said he was limping pretty bad. Guessing he went in early for early treatment. Ok, I guess I can buy it, but Love can't take one shot downfield? Too greedy. Made the right call. I'd expect more likely to see a strip sack or Int giving Min a FG-worst case scenario defensive TD vs a completed long pass and FG made by Crosby.
  12. 17-13 game for how horrendous GB has been commented as playing. Down- Bahktiari, Jones, Myers, Lazard, Tonyan, Alexander, Smith. Gary, Merciless, sure at least another LB and DB. We're down 16-10 instead. I think gameplan was to keep Dillon fresher for 4th quarter and thus not running with him too much. The team is in the game. Clean up some these mistakes, and Vikings make the mistakes they've had all season, gotta feel like we'll pull this game out in the 4th quarter.
  13. I am officially worried on Crosby for remainder of season. A FG doesn't get easier than that. Better be bringing in some kickers to try out.
  14. Cousins being bad. Had the guy wide open at 1st down line and he didn't pull the trigger. Good sign choke coming today.
  15. That Vikings kicker looks to have 65 in him if needed. What a kick.
  16. Houser himself can help the bullpen. You'll trade 3 years of that for 1 year of it plus a backup catcher for 2years? How can this trade value simulater even work this as equal? Twins make this deal no matter what situation they are in. You save them over 6mil on payroll and give them a SP for 3years, a higher quality SP then the majority of SPs they have used in the 2000s. Why do we hate Houser? Is there something I'm missing? This why too many post his name as Hauser?
  17. Maybe because of 2020 there could be a few rule 5s that interest in taking? Guys maybe at A+ and very little AA level who normally would been AA and AAA level protected by teams. Take the RP attempt or maybe even a Catcher the team is mildly behind(not for 2022 but beyond) You also have spots to sign FAs without needing to remove a player from the 40man to do so.
  18. I sure hope 3years of a top 5 pitcher in baseball brought back more than 2 prospects. The headline a catcher with under .250 BA at A+ ball. The Mets would most definitely need to make available any pitcher in their minors of Brewers choosing maybe then I could look the other way.
  19. I've been stressed on this all week expecting to be let down. So relieved a guy who put his name in All-Time record books was given the award. Congrats to Corbin. May we see this dominance a few more seasons as a Brewer. Great Accomplishment
  20. Murphy (.216/.306/.710) is cheap and controllable. He seems to be the kind of guy they would want to keep if their are going to tank and tear down the team. With catchers being in high demand, even with his poor numbers he may bring a modest return if they did sell. BRef has him being worth 2.7WAR this season. Former top 50 prospect, I'd think the A's fully intended on him to remain with the team til the expense got out of hand or the trade was too good to pass up.
  21. If you are referring to Mitchell being the opening day Starter in CF in 2023 I can agree. But if you just mean to make the team as a Starter at some point in 2023, I think that is a poor assumption.
  22. I find it very unlikely that San Fran trades its C (Bart). With Buster Posey retiring after the world series ended, Bart's role with the major league club is increasing in 2022. kinda why I added Narvaez in to the deal. The Giants have nobody to clamor for as an upcoming SP next season. It's Logan Webb and nobodies. I dunno what way the Giants want to build their team moving forward. Are they just going to rest on these prospects and be really bad for 2022 certainly and maybe 2023? Or will they try to field a competitive team with moves going forward. They have a lot of money to invest to payroll, now do they do so add some FAs and then try filling that out is where I think a SP like Peralta you'd draft ahead of to do so than Joey Bart. Giants do have two up coming Catchers where a year of Narvaez could bridge the gap to or get a head start on extending Narvaez(with that freedom of payroll) to replace Posey. The Giants would have 5 seasons to bank on Peralta at a max of 8mil a year to build around with Webb. Peralta gave up 14HRs last season that within the Giants stadium would have only been 10. Think they would prefer a sure think at Starting Pitching over a high grade Catcher. Mentioned in the Pina thread, so few catchers are worth over 2WAR and getting a 0-1WAR is fairly easy to find. That 3+WAR SP is a goldmine to find.
  23. We may be 1 year away from this answer of a clear yes. You will probably have to see what the costs come out to on Woodruff and Burnes. Also gotta consider what the new CBA leaves the team control of each and how expensive in the future it may be. You have JBJ and Cain contracts to come to an end to use to pay your pitchers. Lets say they extend Burnes during his first crack of Arb. Really, don't expect any SP to be traded before the CBA is hashed out. I'd think any big moves that happens until then are moves made by big markets with another big market where money and team control doesn't really matter. Oh and of course you have Oakland who is having a swap meet regardless what happens with the CBA. Of SPs, Fastball Freddy would need to bring home a HR return which I can see plausible on the selling as high in value I think Peralta may be. Couple Teams(obviously all but need/fit currently) that could use Peralta with a number of top 100 prospects to choose from would be the Mets losing Syndergaard or the Giants with at the moment losing Gausman, Cueto, and Descalfini at SP. I would expect a top 25 guy headlining the trade with multiple more pieces. Joey Bart or Francisco Alvarez would fit that HR if you want to fill out your Catcher long-term with a headline return. Narvaez is a FA after 2022. Feliciano doesn't inspire a good bat at the moment. While I know some here clamor for OF help, I think we have a good share of that in the pipeline to bring help in the future. Maybe you even trade Narvaez to Giants and get Giants top prospect Luciano along with Bart in return.
  24. Maybe its a fact the market is saturated with -1 to 1WAR type catchers. A bit different if he was a 3+ history with WAR seasons and separated himself from the pack of catching options. Catchers play less, provide less offensively, just a group you pick up a body and they will do enough to make you not feel like they cost you the season, unlike a couple Brewer hitters.
  25. The part that’s mystifying with Kepler is how low his BABIP has been basically every season of his career. It’s not like he’s ridiculously slow or something. Logic would say his BABIP has to improve, but yet each year he has among the very worst BABIP in baseball. Here are Kepler’s BABIP results by season… [pre]Season BABIP 2015 .250 2016 .261 2017 .276 2018 .236 2019 .244 2020 .236 2021 .225[/pre] The opposite of Yelich. He has too high a Launch Angle and a lower EV so balls are being caught rather than finding holes or are able to beat out a few. You may also wonder a shift effectiveness (didn't check)
