  1. That’s pretty much what has been said for past month beside for Astros being out after Miley. Pitchers are reporting so think it’s just dumb on his behalf to still be holding out, his market isn’t getting any higher from here. Brewers hopefully set a date & said have to then otherwise we need to just focus on guys we have.
  2. I started out teaching special education along with volunteering with special Olympics, and volunteering for special needs and personally don’t take offensive but I could see how some may. It’s just a politically correct world these days. People will make fuss over anything.
  3. Love trade! Hated Mirza on the Bulls & watching him roast us game after game. He always was a pain to play against. Edit: Nikola not Mirza, my bad
  4. Just think of the perks of DH....The biggest being as Brewer fans not having to listen to those Brewer fans who have to complain after every loss about how awful CC is & how he manage. Well they still will, but it’d be reduced a little
  5. I honestly have zero issue or boredom of watching the Red Sox or many other AL teams. I don’t think Brewers before the switch to NL was awful either. Now I get you hate the no bunting, running, and such but DH doesn’t wreck baseball. Plenty of great rotations & pens out there. Just because there is a DH doesn’t completely destroy the game. I’ve never heard AL complain about how awful baseball is. Only issue I have is if they take away swifts & control bullpen usage just to speed up game. There is no need for it. Watching pitchers hit is brutal. Watching pitchers get injuried on baseballs or at the plate even worse. Guy hurts arm throwing so be it. At the plate or bases though, that’s just foolish in my eyes. MadBum missing month or two broken hand. Nelson missing over a year for sliding.... all preventable. You don’t want 12-11 games.... stop putting aces in harms way intentionally. They don’t spend enough time on hitting & baserunning. They focus on what’s important....their pitching
  6. You had to mention that didn't you... can you imagine Davis in the middle of that lineup last year? 48 HRs with half of his games in Oakland (and a bunch in Seattle, San Francisco, etc.). Put that in Miller park for 81 games, and another big RH bat against Chicago's (and LA's) lefties... There is a sleeping giant I haven’t seen post yet... thought I’d wake him up for one of those frequent Khris Davis trade rants but really only reason he was traded was there where better defensive options & no DH. When I guy struggles to get ball from LF to cutoff & teams can run all day on... Brewers didn’t have a choice. But man, those runs would have been nice! Good news if it passes for this season, Nottingham can finally get his ABs to see what is actually is! My arguments with Briggs these past few years all go out window if he just sucks at MLB level.... fought to long in support of trade to lose as has many others ha
  7. I’ve been done with no DH since it was a useless & unnecessary way to destroy our up & coming Aces shoulder. Who knows if Jimmy will ever refind his 2017 form. DH gives a big Bat like Thames a spot without having to play OF. It can help young guys get in lineup more. When we had Khris Davis & Santana, we wouldn’t have to suffer through awful defense (Davis’s arm still grades out as one of worst in all baseball averaging about 78 mph on competitive throws) I use to love interleague where we would call up Fielder or a Gamel to get pro ABs. The way interleague has been blended year round and not really a big deal anymore like it use to, don’t see need to keep them different. I get strategy & peoples love for it but I love runs & the longball. Having to watch guys like Ben Sheets go to the plate is awful. Some look as useless as if I was out there. Kind of surprised, thought more people would want it however, valid reasons why not to. Guess it is all about what you enjoy about watching baseball. I don’t think it hurts the game & strategy nearly as much as the two other big discussions on eliminating shifts & making a reliever pitch an inning or to 3 batters minimum. As a former (but terrible) lefty reliever, hate to see my LOOGYs get shafted
  8. Seen the union thing twice now in last few days & have disliked it both times. Baseball is a business & should be allowed to operate as such. You make low ball, they make high ball number & you work to find middle ground. That is point of free market & competition. Experience doesn’t equal production. Advanced metrics make it extremely hard to put value on performance plus performance is volitale. Popularity.... how do you put value on that? Fan vote? Plus player union is for players. Giving them 100% of power is just as dangerous as 100% of power to owners. Their whole job is to maximize player earning potential. Plus think of issues inside union when they tell player that they only deserve this when they are suppose to help you. Moreover, why not just install salary cap with max contracts? Teams forced to pay a capped max contract for primium talent. 40 man roster counts towards cap. Move it two years minimum, 3rd, 4th, 5th year arby, year 6 RFA. Moves up payday earlier and opens up big day year earlier if earned. If you perform, arby will get you fair contract. Salary caps even competitive balance unless NBA issues occur with players playing for much less to stack teams. Baseball is traditional & lives in past. Proof is they still haven’t got ride of no DH in NL. Salary cap is something that would be fought by both sides. Large market team couldn’t try to buy championships & players max contracts cap earning potential. These two issues two issues mixed with baseball’s its been done like this forever mentality cause big issues
  9. Really no reward if it is just one team. You draft guys. Minor league players won’t request & leverage trades. Minor league free agent signings are not usually big deal. No team is going to do it if they can get away with paying McDonald wages to these guys. Even if you make them happy in minors, they give you 6 years.... come time they will still chase the money in FA over be loyal because you treated them better in minors
  10. That was first thing I saw. Locking up an RP until 36? I love Jeffress but man... I don’t see how you can do that no matter how great of a guy & how good he has been for us. Plus why extend now when you have two years left? If after 2020 he is still lights out, consider then. Our window will be towards closing end. Come 2021, we could be looking at a different direction a bit.
  11. As long as mlb doesn’t become NBA where player/agent collusion (I mean “player empowerment“) runs wild and they control league... I’m fine. The day Machado & Harper take huge pay cuts and shorter contract in prime (2 years 30-35 million or something under the value) to join Kris Bryant & cubs to create super team... I’m done with mlb outside of Brewers just like I’m done with NBA outside of Bucks. NFL is only one of the major sports that does pretty good job of keeping competitive balance. Crap teams usually come down to poor player personal decisions (scouting & FAs) every team has same amount to work with. Rookie contracts are fixed. It’s much easier to do it in NFL due to players going straight to pros over MLB & NHL having minors. Salary cap based on revenues could help competitive balance but again with minor leagues and how fluid rosters are it’s more complex. Have to also make share cap is set at value that all teams can afford which may force more revenue sharing. Salary cap would have to be for 40 man roster over 25 man. Agents & player most likely would have biggest issue because it puts a ceiling on spending so that doesn’t help their cause. That is all a tangent
  12. A bit off topic of collusion but has to deal with how hard it is to earn money in baseball. Players ability to make money within their first decade or so is exactly why the As are in big trouble with Kylar Murray. He gets drafted he may have smaller or equal signing bonus but yearly he will far exceed earnings in his rookie contract than he will going through minor league system. If you look at the issue, below is best case scenario of 3 years in minors & then up. This doesn’t even look at the following 5 years where he still not make much money. For NFL based on everything I have read, he will be a 1st round pick if he commits to football. I went with lowball #32 looking at Lamar Jackson’s contract. Very well could go higher. Best case 4 Kyler Signing Bonus 4.7 million Year 1 A ball median (Of A & A+ for 7 months) 10k Year 2 AA 12,500 Year 3 AAA 15,500 Year 4 MLB 575,000 6.1 million over first 5 with signing bonus NFL is he is at least 32nd in 1st round (Lamar Jackson last year) Signing Bonus: 5,000,000 Year 1 480,000 Year 2 555,000 Year 3 630,000 Year 4 705,000 Total: 7.5 million guaranteed Numbers are off a bit, Jackson at 32 got 9 million guaranteed. Many believe Kylar could go top 10 even at his height. That could push him up to 18 million guaranteed Baseball his signing bonus is only sure thing & he may take 4-5 years to be regular MLB player earning service time. Moreover, NFL he will receive more endorsement deals earlier as well since investing in players in minors with limited exposure. Again off topic of collusion on MLB FAs but I do have a problem with how low salaries are through minors & even pre arbitration. Believe teams have plenty of money to improve in this area. 10 years to reach your real payday is long time. I tend to care more about the little guys over being upset if a guy will make 25 or 30 million over next 10 years.
  13. Don’t need any of them. None help us over what we have. Getting Nelson to regain form and Davies/Anderson to bounce are pretty much 3 FA rebound candidates. Only pitcher to look at is Kuechel or bring in a Kluber who makes us stronger.
  14. Not all markets are equal and baseball is the most unequal of professional sports. From this standpoint I don’t think all owners and teams would be in on it. Teams like Brewers, Pirates, Reds, and so on don’t have the market to go get those big contracts anyways. Those large market teams very well could be. Baseball structure forces small market teams to not bid and look for cheap ways to develop and win and large markets to decided how much they want to set market at. Boris and other agents are doing their job to maximize player earning so I don’t see them as the bad guys. Baseball structure is just not overaly player friendly. Players have to wait usually at least a decade before a real payday.... 3-4 of those years making very little at all. Players have the least amount of power in baseball. Not sure what the resolution is. More money the large market teams will pay, the more the small teams will have to tank to compete. Until there is a way to balance the inequality more, not sure how much things can improve.
  15. If Zach Clark could ever make contact consistently, he could be a legit top 10 prospect. All the tools are there but the glaring 35-40% K%.... another 46 in 135 ABs in winter giving him a 34% is I guess a little improvement from his 39% during season. If he could fall in the 25-28% range I’d be really happy with him
  16. Figured Supek will split, start in AA & be first up to AAA. He very well could be in SA, wouldn’t surprise me at all
  17. Torn ACL, probably won’t be back until summer sometime
  18. I think Brewers pecking order for pitching: 1.Kuechel ....same or slightly less money you will take on with other options but leaves system intact for later. 2. Kluber .... will cost a price tag plus some key prospects. Maybe Huira who is suppose to take over at 2B sooner than later 3. MadBum.... only 1 year of control plus price tag & prospects. 4. Gio.... last option if others fall through. Cheaper option & less ceiling but solid lefty That’s just way I see it. If you are going to pay the price tag, it is preferred to do so without losing top tier prospects. Sure Kuechel is different pitcher than Kluber & not the per dominant arm talent but guy can pitch
  19. Kuechel will be a Brewer, Brave, or Astro.... hopefully the Brewers. Every rotation needs lefties. With Miley gone, Suter out over half of season, and no other SPs who are lefty.... Kuechel or at least Gio should be added. Too bad value on Davies & Anderson are down, would be nice to bring in some more prospects to continue to reload farm. Kuechel Chacin Nelson Burnes Woodruff/ Peralta That’d be a solid rotation
  20. Sorry somehow posted in wrong trend. Can an admin move it? Completely forgot about Lara being traded. Fixed it by moving Garcia up to Carolina even though I believe he is best suited repeating Wisconsin.
  21. I found this to be more difficult than in past years. Not as much depth at Carolina through SA and then loaded with young talent who may not be proven or advanced enough at lower levels. I’m sure I missed people or may have someone not in system anymore somewhere. San Antonio should be an exciting team at least until some of the studs get called up. At least the rotation in Biloxi will be interesting. Wilson stock has been on rise & maybe Grisham pulls a Taylor & clicks. Carolina offers a great catching combo with Super Mario & Henry. Lutz has a chance to build on last years 2nd half. Silva & Clark have explosive bats. Think Ashby will be pushed & maybe Sunitsch. Wisconsin should be another very young team that will probably have its struggles. However, will be enjoyable to follow. Turang & Gray Jr. I see making the leap. Some may disagree on Gray Jr but really he face some extreme bad luck with a .235 babip. 25% K was high but 18% Bb & .15 ISO both really impress. Dynamic talent. Ward, Abreu, Castillo, Coco are all talented kids & look for McClanahan to have better 2nd go. The staff has a lot of options be interesting to see how it shakes out. 22. Downfall for Marquette will be they have so little depth or ability to score off bench. You really have Howard & the Hausers who will score and not much else. When it comes tourney time against teams like Duke who have that depth, it will be tough. It’s awesome to see them playing so well & Howard is an elite college talent!
  23. I think Braden Webb at #37 is the bigger red flag. That really made do a double take. Webb should no longer be outside of anyone’s top 25 & more realistic top 20.
  24. The NBA is the most player friendly league of the major sports. They have a ton of power & contracts mean little.I dislike it but NBA is bringing more money & ratings every year so it’s working for the game. Bucks, Pacers, Raptors are refreshing because they bring you back to the old league pre super teams & it being a best friend league. To see teams develop, make smart moves, play great team ball, with great coaching is awesome! Not much Diva drama. AD is unrealistic. We don’t have the assets. Our best guys not named Giannis are about to be free agents. The younger guys with control like Wilson Donte and Thon are not the type of big names to build a team around. Cool in theory but just don’t have the young talent
  25. I’ve been saying it since he was drafted that he in my eyes is a young Trae Turner. That is not a bad thing. You can be a really good baseball player without hitting 20+ HRs a season. I expect Turang will average 10-15 a season & with other tools, that’s more than enough. How often do you see kids get drafted out of high school & play way he did. His walk to k % was outstanding & hit really well outside of power. 16% BB & only about at 15% K rate is not too bad at all. I also think he is underrated. Power comes later to a lot of young lanky & stringy SSs. Let’s not freak out that a skinny 18 year old will never hit for power because he didn’t right away. Give him time to develop body & let coaches work with him on his swing to get most out of it.
