  1. It was bad. The 3rd strike swinging on a pitch outside AND in the dirt...unreal. Hard to imagine him contributing this year...
  2. These are the most significant non-drug related suspension I think I've ever seen MLB hand out.
  3. Anytime I've read anything on his defense, it talks about him taking a lot of bad routes and having a poor arm. I don't have time to dig up links. We'll see how he looks out there, but i'm a bit surprised they are playing him in CF...especially in such a big park. PCL has a lot of smaller parks which probably helps a bit. Also, guys that get the "he could play CF but is better suited for a corner" scouting report never end up starting consistently in CF. Most teams have near GG caliber defender or better in CF. That's just how it works at this level. Even the best potential defensive version of Grisham in CF is probably a bottom 5 defender when compared to the other 29 regular CF at the mlb level. CF, SS, and C are the worst positions to sacrifice defense for offense.
  4. If he's comparable to Gamel, he's a guy you can spot start once in a while in CF but you really don't want to be playing him there. Also reports across the board are that he has a bad arm, so putting him in RF is a pretty significant liability.
  5. Maybe we should have traded Gamel yesterday, he seems the odd man out here. Pretty much have Shaw getting the nod over him. I tend to think Grisham might be only up for the day to be honest. Or for a couple days. Gamel isn't going anywhere. I kinda figure on one of him or Shaw getting sent down tomorrow for Perez. I still am a bit concerned with Grisham's defensive ability for the game today...this seems like a bad idea. Would be better to play Yelich in CF and Thames in RF with Braun DH.
  6. Just to note, official 25 man moves today were Grisham/Pomeranz being activated and Williams/Saladino being optioned. Shaw or Moose would serve as backup SS if necessary in the short term.
  7. Are we sure Grisham can handle CF? I didn't understand him to be a great OF defender...and Oakland has a pretty big outfield.
  8. Also a reminder to thank the Cardinals today for scheduling a night game today against the Cubs on a getaway day, while the Cubs have to play a 1:20 game against us tomorrow. Hopefully it goes to extras to add to the fun...
  9. It's fun looking at brewers stats against Homer Bailey and seeing so many over 1000 OPS. Braun, Cain, Thames, Yelich and Pina are all over 1000 OPS against him career. Pina might not start, but I suspect the other 4 will all start along with Grisham, Hiura, Moose, Saladino, and Grandal. Cain Yelich Braun DH Moose Grandal Hiura Thames Saladino/Arcia Grisham LF That's not what I would do, just what I'm expecting.
  10. These guys aren't that similar actually. Lyles money pitch is his curve, while Anderson is the changeup. Both throw a lot of high fastballs, but otherwise attack hitters a lot differently.
  11. I tend to agree. Davies was hurt for a good chunk of the year and didn't have time to get right. Anderson struggled down the stretch and simply wasn't one of our best options heading into the playoffs. To both their credit, they seemed to take care of business in the offseason and look very good this year. And Lyles/Houser kinda came out of nowhere. Would have been hard to anticipate either guy being even close to this productive.
  12. I love the idea of grisham getting some atbats at the mlb level, but where is he gonna play? He certainly can't be expected to be a PH. Im wondering if they plan to play braun some at 1b, or if gamel can play any 1b.
  13. Looks like grisham hit another dinger?
  14. If i remember right, burnes was only planned to go either 2 or 3 innings. I don't remember which. I actually think it was 3, but i think the likelihood of this being trade related is low.
  15. Tell that to the Indians. They'd be in first place right now if they had any halfway decent OF
  16. I tend to agree with this, pending what the brewers specifically think he'll be going forward. If this is the new norm, he should be valued as a top 50 prospect. If they think this is just an extended hot streak, they should get what they can now. Im leaning toward the former, hot streaks usually don't last this long
  17. I think that's a little too much for the brewers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but team control would make arcia more valuable than ahmed. Ahmed is currently better, but arcia still has a lot of upside in his bat. Adding burnes just seems crazy. I think if you switch burnes with brown or supak it makes more sense.
  18. How has Phelps been this year? This feels fairly meh to me. A guy the brewers probably could use but not a back end reliever by any stretch
  19. I wonder if in said deal, we could send over arcia+. I agree i love the idea of getting both.
  20. That Tweet doesn't make any sense to me. I think he's just trying to make a comment on how steep the price is for pitching right now...but as noted in here...what team lines up? Who is giving up an ace and values 2 months of Grandal or Moustakas as a major piece back? MAYBE Cleveland is in that sell now/buy now position but they really don't need either of them. Cleveland is really the only team. Maybe Oakland is capable of that creativity, dunno if that need exists though. Maybe the rays? Keep in mind there are probably teams talking that nobody knows about. But overall, yes i think this tweet is weird. And i think he's dead wrong.
  21. I like the addition, was not too worked up we didn't exercise the option. Lyles was very vanilla/replaceable, who knew he was going to be so much better this year? Very easy to be a monday morning qb
