  1. Im a bit annoyed we didn't beat this return. That said, wow the Mets are so unbelievably poorly run. Just wow.
  2. Because the dodgers are one of the best at development. They'll develop someone just as good as lux sometime in the next 2 years. I do see your point though. It's like trading hiura but lh and better defensively. I would be hard no if I'm the brewers, but we don't develop guys like the dodgers do.
  3. Gamel is a clutch monster, but it can't be understated how much joe maddon contributed to this victory. Every move he makes is a bad one. Every brewer fan was thrilled that lester wasn't pitching the 8th
  4. Their subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/CHICubs) is the only one I visit. They're even more reactionary than our GDTs, always a fun visit after they lose. I gained some level of respect for their fans with how mercilessly they are bashing joe maddon bullpen management. Im sure I'll lose it today when they start 7 fights at Miller park...
  5. This seems stupid. I have a hard time seeing the return on thor being THAT much better than the return on stroman. Also the 1/2 year of stroman this year is wasted on them, so hard to see them winning the bidding on stroman anyways. I get the feeling the Mets FO thinks they are smarter than every other team.
  6. I forsee an opportunity for Maddon to put in a LH reliever to face Thames/Shaw, only for CC to PH Braun for Thames. Maddon can then either waste a pitcher and bring in a RH(who would then have to face Shaw next), or else Braun gets to face a lefty that is probably very bad against RH bats. I like how CC is setting himself up for the inevitable PH/reliever chess match later in the game. I'll add to this, the Cubs only have 1 active lefty on the roster currently(they'll have 2 when Holland is activated). I already understood why they brought Shaw up for this series, but it makes even more sense when factoring that in...we'll have a ton of LH PH for their mostly RH bullpen.
  7. Braun hasn't been that good against Hendricks, but I agree I would rather see him in than Thames. At the same time, they probably want Braun starting the next 2 against Lester/Quintana...and Thames and Shaw will probably sit against both. So I sorta kinda get it.
  8. Specifically noting his comment that the Dbacks are viewed as "aggressive sellers". I wouldn't take this to mean they plan on giving anyone away, but you can probably officially start looking at all rental pieces and 1+ year players as legitimately on the table.
  9. Eric Sogard not in the starting lineup because "scheduled day off". This move would for sure make the Cubs better...
  10. Well, it's more than DS has done so far. You might be simmering soon. In fairness, very few teams have done much of anything. The posturing gets worse and worse every year, I feel like teams won't really start talking until July 28th at the earliest(many teams off July 29th so they may view this as a decision point)...or possibly not until just a few hours before the deadline.
  11. This is kinda where I'm at too. He had good numbers in a very very small sample size against lefties, in a very pitcher friendly environment. So i'm not really sure he's better than what they have...and again, give Maddon all the situational guys and let him have everybody pitch every day until their arms fall off in mid-August.
  12. DJ Peters is gonna be a player as well. I picked up Gavin Lux 2 months ago in my dynasty league, I couldn't be happier with that decision right now. His numbers are obscene, even for AAA. I might trade Hader just for him. On a side, I fully expect the Dodgers to trade a bunch of these high end prospects for substantial pieces. I figure on the Dodgers or Padres getting Thor, and the Dodgers possibly getting Vazquez. Their farm can seemingly turn anyone into a stud...just trade away 2 or 3 top prospects and develop 2 or 3 new ones next year.
  13. I love this move. His numbers have been very good against lefties, and Maddon surely knows this. I love the idea of giving Maddon every opportunity to overuse his bullpen.
  14. Yeah no way are the Padres trading Tatis. Everyone has a value of course, but there's just no way they'd trade him unless they are getting like 5 Josh Haders. I know it makes some logical sense to trade Moose with the excess corner infield, that would just rub me the wrong way though if the guy seriously took less to sign here. There's no way we'll definitively know if that's true...it just seems wrong to send away someone like Moose while still trying to contend.
  15. Imagine being the Angels...best player in baseball and seriously trying to contend...and you lose a game like this a few days before the deadline
  16. I like the thought on Gamel over Cain, I just don't see it with the basically 2 full days off. Also Cain and Braun have looked better lately. I'm anticipating Cain Yelich Grandal Moose Braun Thames Hiura Arcia/Salad Man P
  17. I frankly cannot believe people are still arguing this 5 pages later. The bag policy is super reasonable and far more liberal than any other stadium policy for professional or high-level college sports. So many people have made so many good points about why it exists and why it's a good thing, but people continue with trying to justify bringing suitcases full of stuff to a baseball game as if it's even remotely necessary. If you can't fit it all in a tote bag, you're bringing WAYYY too much in to a baseball game. Fact
  18. So apparently we aren't the only insane fanbase. Cubs fans are talking about selling as well. I simply don't understand all the selling talk...
  19. If Hiura is off limits, best case scenario is Peralta or Burnes would be a starting point for Thor. Turang I would assume is a non-starter as the headliner. Heck they may even want him as the 2nd piece pending how good the other offers are and how they value Burnes/Peralta.
  20. I guess I'm a little concerned the eventual corresponding move will be to send Hiura down...when pitching is needed. After his first senddown, I've lost a bit of confidence in their roster decision making...
  21. Am I missing something? I don't know Shaw could pitch...
  22. I actually think the Brewers hire the screeners...could be wrong...but I thought they did. It typically comes up in their job postings which omits the food service/parking lot jobs they don't hire themselves. I highly suspect MLB has significant say in the procedures. I also highly suspect MLB hires people to "test" security measures at all the ballparks. Maybe trying to sneak in toy guns or something and report on it...and maybe the ballparks were grading very low on those tests. Many others have said security is much more thorough checking bags this year than previous years.
