  1. Braves front office comes off more and more stupid by the day. What a yikes...
  2. Agreed. I think Adams will likely be very good in LV, better than most packer wr have done elsewhere. But Rodgers should be good enough to have success with slightly less good weapons.
  3. I feel like wiemer being fringe top 100 is a good hedge for him at this point considering his production/tools but that he hasn't done it in the upper minors yet. I feel very confident that one way or another, he won't be fringe top 100 in 6 months. Either he'll be top 20 or around 300/400 at best
  4. Correa is more likely to get signed by the LA Rams than those 3 teams...
  5. Please be right
  6. I'm honestly a fan of this move. He's not worth what the raiders are giving him. He's certainly talented but I really don't think he'll be the best wr in football without rodgers throwing to him. Hopefully we can get one of the top wr in the draft
  7. It's not uncommon for players to come in saying they worked on a pitch in the off season only for that pitch not to make it into games. Devin had a slider/cutter the entire way through the system but I think he kinda set it aside as he tried to get to the big leagues with his other 2 offerings. So I'll hope for the best but generally going to take this with a grain of salt. Adding it would certainly help, because as good as good changeup is, you generally can't be successful long term against both handed hitters with just 2 offerings. If this pitch is more of a hard cutter, he probably can effectively use all 3 pitchers against all hitters. If it's more of a slow slider it will probably be mostly limited to rh hitters.
  8. I get the age factor, but Freeman has been better every year than Olson besides last year. He's a truly elite hitter and guys with that skill set tend to age much better than power/obp skill set. Olson strikes me as the type of guy that will be hitting 220 and barely scraping an 800 ops by his early 30s. Freeman is more likely to follow a Nelson Cruz/Justin Turner path and continue excellent production into his late years. And all that doesn't touch on how much more value Freeman should have to the braves franchise. He could have been a franchise icon like chipper. Hard to see it having the same feel with him leaving over a couple million per year.
  9. Freeman to the dodgers. I've made my feelings well known but this contract absolutely magnifies my thoughts on the braves.
  10. Jon Heyman is such a dope. Which of these is not like the others?
  11. It's almost better that way, vs good players giving a discount to a contender to try to win...unless that contender is the brewers
  12. Kris Bryant clearly cares about money only and zero about winning. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but that is very very clear with this deal.
  13. I just saw 4 years with AAV around 20 per. Schwarber is a phenomenal hitter but that just isn't in the cards for us...
  14. I'm not as concerned about safety as I'm sure they'll take precautions there, but it does seem unnecessary to add yet another bar in that area. Especially considering that bar is virtually certain to charge at least 12 bucks apiece for beer. Tucking the kids area back there made a lot of sense to me, moving it feels like a money grab. When I get back to a game there's virtually zero chance I spend money on ballpark refreshments.
  15. Olson is not better than Freeman, hearing that repeated as if it's fact is just silly. Olson was better last year than Freeman by a very small margin and aided largely by defensive metrics. Freeman has been and currently is the better player. Also a true pure hitter generally won't regress as quickly as a hitter that relies heavily on obp/power. The only way there's even an argument is if 2021 is the new norm for olson and not simply having a career year in a hitters age 27 season. I would be surprised if we saw a sub 20 k rate from Olson again in 2022.
  16. I believe they will, primarily because I'm expecting hiura to bounce back in a big way and force them to.
  17. Thinking more on this, looking at the yelich trade is probably a good value starting point. I think Reynolds probably has more value than yelich had at the time as well.
  18. Certainly not unfair points, but that is a very very big IF. The k rate decrease is pretty nuts I'll agree. I think 3 years from now, Freeman is still the more valuable player.
  19. I love the idea of offering a package starting with small/Taylor and adding from there. I honestly don't know how much would be needed, Reynolds has 4 years of team control left so I imagine quite a bit more than those 2. Probably are including one of our top outfield prospects as well and possibly one more piece.
  20. Olson is younger, but Freeman is clearly the better player and is more likely to age better than Olson. Freeman is a pure hitter whole olson really is not. And when you factor in part of Olson's contract is arbitration and that Atlanta had to part with a ton of prospect value to get olson, this is a really bad look for Atlanta. That could all change if Freeman gets something like 6/200, but as of now it's a bad look for me.
  21. Is it just me, or is it a reeeeally bad look to trade for a new 1b AND immediately sign him to an 8 year extension while letting the face of the franchise at that same position walk? I'm curious what Freeman ends up getting because unless it's a pretty huge number, this is going to be a really bad look for Atlanta.
  22. You can't just throw anybody at 1b at this level and have it work out just fine. And not everyone can pick it up. There were lengthy discussions on this board about why khris Davis didn't learn 1b considering he was decently athletic but had the literal worst throwing arm in the league among all players/positions by a margin the size of the grand canyon. Apparently the brewers tried him at 1b in practice and it went horrendous. More recent examples, last year Eduardo Escobar played some 1b. He's played multiple infield positions so you'd think 1b should be pretty easy to pick up. He was fine there but he averaged probably around 1 mistake a game at 1b, the types of mistakes a guy like tellez who is probably a league average defender at the position would never really make because he's played there so long. So the answer to why Taylor doesn't take any reps at 1b is either because he's been tried there and was not great, or much more likely because his outfield defense is very solid and valuable and it's not beneficial to waste his development time on 1b when that time is much better served working on literally anything else.
  23. It's also possible mccutchen gets his occasional start when woodruff or burnes pitch. The ground ball and strikeout guys which would limit the number of even routine plays he needs to make. But generally agree with your point that I don't expect him to start in the field too often. Also just a general reminder that with the DH, the in game roster management is much more simplified. The whole double switch a guy into the game for 4 innings thing will be pretty much gone. That said, I would like to see mccutchen used as a ph in key at bats against lefties late in the game as a pure ph.
  24. I suspect any addition we make going forward on the position player side will be via trade, I would be surprised if we bring in another free agent bat. Also this lineup had a fair number of underperformers last year, the numbers just don't back up that this is a bad lineup
  25. I'm guessing 4-5 mil with a club option. He'll be good to have considering the age of our outfield and the DH. Biggest problem is he's rakes against lefties but so does Cain/renfroe/taylor
