  1. The Ump scorecard doesn’t seem to think that’s the case.
  2. Now who’s going to cover the last four innings? Even If Peralta can deliver a shut down inning there are still 3 more to go.
  3. I hope you aren’t suggesting that the complaining isn’t justified.
  4. It’s not the first one of the series. The final strike on Monday was a questionable call that would have loaded the bases instead of ending the game. The call that everyone was upset about last night wasn’t even a strike 3 and maybe wasn’t even a strike.
  5. Did they say that Peralta hasn’t recorded an out in the 7th inning yet this season? With 64 pitches to get through 3 innings I think it’s safe to say that string isn’t in jeopardy today.
  6. Playing from behind for the fourth day in a row. Same old Peralta.
  7. Then I look at the Reds lineup today for their getaway game against the Nats, and they have 6 guys with OPS over .700, and four of those are over .800. And that’s with 3 more regulars with OPS over .800 (Friedl, Fraley, and Votto) taking the day off. It’s no wonder they have picked up 10 games on the Brewers since their 7-15 start. To make up that massive difference in run production the Brewers pitching has to be a lot better than the Reds’ to keep pace with them. For the last 10 weeks it hasn’t been.
  8. I look at this lineup, like I do everyday, and shake my head at how terrible it is. The saddest part is that this is the best they can do with what they have (unless they want to try to play Contreras every day). And it isn’t like there are injuries to key players who can be expected to come back and provide a boost. The guys they have hitting 2 through 9 would all be batting at the bottom of the order on a decent hitting team, if they played at all.
  9. Stroman’s last start on Saturday was delayed about 3 hours by rain and didn’t start until 9 PM. The Guardians scored two runs early and then knocked him out with 4 in the sixth, 3 off Stroman. So maybe if the Brewers can come up with a reason to delay the start for several hours and hang in there until 11 PM they can get to him. His previous start was in London against the Cardinals, so maybe the Brewers should try moving this game to Europe and hope Stroman simply doesn’t deal well with foreign trips.
  10. If finishing below .500 and making watered down playoffs in the COVID season is a success, and winning over 90 games and finishing several games away from a division title is a failure, then the last 6 years have been more successful.
  11. Not entirely true. They were better in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
  12. I agree, but your post referred only to the draft.
  13. A team shouldn’t have to draft a first baseman to find a competent one. Draft the best players available regardless of position and build the major league roster with trades and free agents filling in what your system doesn’t provide.
  14. Sure, but a major league first baseman helps prevent errors and the Brewers don’t have one.
  15. I guess the Brewers record of being 14-5 in one run games wasn’t sustainable.
  16. Not a good time to be playing the Reds 6 in a row.
  17. The throw was not that far off and Miller’s footwork was messed up. Not having a major league first baseman is hurting the Brewers at the plate and in the field.
  18. So now the Brewers go into tomorrow facing Stroman with the bullpen not in the greatest shape.
  19. Another kick in the gut while the Reds cruise to another win.
  20. His pitch count wasn’t that high, but they finally put some on him in the 6th. They have let him throw over 100 pitches to complete 7 innings, and with only 67 pitches through 5, with two more quick innings I think they would have let him at least start the 8th. This is probably his last appearance before the All Star break, and with the heavy work in their bullpen the last few days I would have expected him to go into the 8th if his pitch count was around 90. But, the Brewers 6th took that off the table.
  21. While Steele is looking like he might be able to go 8.
  22. That’s the good news, but it’s taking Houser so many pitches to grind through these innings that he’ll be lucky if he makes it through five. More stress on an already overworked bullpen.
  23. The Brewers starting pitching is starting to look pretty mediocre. Couldn’t afford to fall behind again tonight, but Houser wasn’t up to the task. A lot more innings for the bullpen to cover.
  24. His throws from third always have an arc. Anderson is so much better I’m glad they now have some OF depth so he can play there regularly.
