  1. One more walk or HBP would be nice here.
  2. Not completely true. I was at the game when Schoop had the big moment of his Brewers career, hitting a grand slam HR of Bumgarner just after he had drilled Braun with a pitch.
  3. Counsell looks good with that maneuver. I saw that ball and was thinking “don’t bounce over the wall”.
  4. I really wish Adames would go to the plate more often thinking that a single would be OK. So often he puts himself in a hole trying to hit one 600 feet.
  5. I was just hearing that they have been very good for the last month or so. Regardless, if the bullpen is mediocre, as opposed to horrifically bad, it shouldn’t be surprising that a manager wouldn't hesitate to go to it to face the Brewers lineup. They haven’t had anything remotely resembling a hit since the pitching change.
  6. The Cubs don’t really have a mediocre bullpen. Not sure if the Brewers can score 3 more runs unless they can draw 6 walks in an inning.
  7. You won’t often see 3 more pitiful ABs to squander a chance to get back in the game.
  8. Ironically, right after Levering made a sarcastic comment about Turang not getting a hit yesterday because of a “questionable (no surprise)” scoring decision in Pittsburgh. I hope he wasn’t talking about the dribbler that the pitcher threw away.
  9. I didn’t say anyone did say it. Everyone knows Yelich has a weak arm, but bringing it up on an irrelevant play in an irrelevant part of the game seems odd.
  10. I wouldn’t look forward to watching a guy making his MLB debut face that lineup either. Between Abbott on Saturday and whoever for the Brewers on Sunday the Reds are going to have pitching advantages in that series too, not to mention a much stronger lineup.
  11. Yelich’s arm and a runner going from first to third with two outs is not in the top 100 of the Brewers problems.
  12. Party time for Cubs fans. Not looking forward to seeing Teheran face the Reds lineup Sunday if the Brewers stick with the 6 man rotation.
  13. I’m curious what your proposal would be for selecting All Star rosters. I’ll preface my comments by saying that who gets selected for the All Star Game is very low on my list of things in sports that I care about. With the predominant use of the game’s best closers to pitch much of the game, a game that was already a meaningless exhibition has become a dull exhibition. Your comments suggest that you would prefer a statistical evaluation to choose players over selecting fan favorites or players selected by their peers. That would seem to have the potential to make the game even less appealing to the public, which might prefer seeing an established star like Mike Trout over some Joe Nobody who happens to have a slightly higher FWAR + over the first 10 weeks of this season.
  14. Maybe a couple of failures to make spectacular plays but, for the second outing in a row Teheran isn’t fooling anyone.
  15. I would take that right now if offered. With all of the holiday activities going on I expect the Cubs to have the home crowd advantage today and tomorrow too.
  16. The Cubs have the edge in SP matchups in this series with 2 good lefties and Stroman. Hendricks seems to run hot or cold against the Brewers. The Brewers matchup with the Reds may be significantly different than the series last month with de la Cruz in the mix and the rest of their offense hot and able to steal bases at will. They’ll also have Aboott again. I don’t think the Brewers can shut down that offense or slug it out with them like the Braves did. Between the heavy load of inter divisional games (including the 3 series against the Reds) and the two series against the Braves, this month could tell us a lot about the Brewers prospects for the playoffs. Another extended hitting slump could bury them.
  17. Good road trip with some big games against division opponents coming up. The July schedule is a challenge: 9 with the Reds and 6 with the Braves leading the way.
  18. It’s pretty sad when the guy hitting third in the order everyday is one of the last guys you want to see up in a run scoring situation
  19. Some are obvious enough that it shouldn’t be necessary.
  20. I think that was tongue in cheek. On both points.
  21. Not if they remove him from the rotation.
  22. Geez Perkins, don’t do that to me.
  23. At least for now. Kind of a risk letting him go another inning. .
