  1. BTW, I saw comments on here about Misioroski going to the bullpen. IMHO he needs to go to Nashville and see if he can learn how to throw strikes again. In the bullpen what role would he have that can’t be filled by Anderson? Maybe if he can get straightened out he could be considered for the pen. But right now I wouldn’t trust him with any kind of lead.
  2. It is meaningless when you apply it to a small number of games. The runs the Brewers scored against the Cubs throwaway pitcher on Monday pad the total.
  3. This series has been sitting there like the sword of Damocles through this whole winning streak. I wasn’t going to feel good until, this series and the rest of the 19 game/18 day stretch was over. Tomorrow’s game feels like a formality just like some of those series over the years when the Cardinals would win 3 or 4; in a row by doing whatever it would take to win. The 7 game homestand is going to be critical for the Brewers to get their mojo back. I’m not feeeling good about the Brewers chances of not losing ground when they finish this stretch with series against the Blue Jays and Phillies while the Cubs are playing the likes of the Rockies, Nats, and Braves.
  4. I was always concerned that if the Brewers ran into a rough stretch it would be because the offense gets shut down. And it looks like that time is here. This is 6 straight games with not much hitting. Can’t always count on opponents mistakes to produce runs. Their one big inning in this series was handed to them by the Cubs 27th player and Counsell’s decision to let the guy die on the mound. I really miss the days when nobody knew about exit velocity.. now it becomes an excuse. Sharply hit ground balls right into the teeth of the defense by a slow runner have always been classic DP bal
  5. Did you ask if the Brewers have the division race locked up? The answer to both questions should be the same.
  6. I wish I had confidence that Misioroski could give them 4 or 5 good innings, but he seems to have lost the rhythm he had when he first came up. His command has been terrible.
  7. No, they’d be fine. We were assured at the deadline that the Brewers didn’t need to improve their depth in the infield and that Monasterio and Siegler are sufficient.
  8. It was a hypothetical example. But if the Brewers win 2 more they would have a 9 game lead that would really be 10 because they would have the tiebreaker.
  9. But at the end of the season there are no half games. If the Cubs are 5 games behind the Brewers after Thursday, they would have to gain 5 more the rest of the way to catch up and win the division. By any accounting that’s a 5 game lead.
  10. Taillon is the worst starter the Brewers were going to face in this series and the offense has disappeared.
  11. That is wrong. With the tiebreaker it’s 5. If the team with the lead has the tiebreaker it’s one more. Think of it as the number of games the trailing team would have to gain.
  12. The Brewers have squandered the pitching advantage they had coming into this game. So they’ll have to come up with another way to win this one. The big hits have not been coming so far in this series.
  13. To a lot of posters, “concern” or any feeling that something isn’t wrapped up, equals “panic”.
  14. “Panic” has to be one of the most overused and misused words on sports message boards.
  15. The Brewers really need to jump on Tallion for some early runs. He’s probably not going to be in too long before Counsell goes to a, lefty. Also need 6 strong innings from Woodruff. This is the best pitching matchup the Brewers will have in this series and they need to take advantage of it.
  16. Tonight’s game is really pivotal. The pitching matchup is favorable and the Cubs had to use one of their top starters and most of their best relievers to pull it out. A win tonight and the Brewers effectively win the day and put themselves in position to win the season series while eliminating the possibility of the Cubs making any major gains this week. A loss gives the Cubs momentum going into the next two days
  17. Castro showing the Brewers they should have tried harder to keep him from the Cubs.
  18. I was thinking Yelich could use a game off. He has looked terrible at the plate the last 3 days. That would let Contreras be DH again so he doesn’t catch 2 games. I assume Durbin and Siegler will each play one game, consistent with the platoon. Id like to see Frelick and Turang play both games unless Frelick’s knee isn’t up to it. it wouldn’t shock me if Murphy goes full platoon with Monasterio and Lockridge both playing game 1. I really want to see Collins in both games.
  19. No game tonight so putting on Major League for some relaxing entertainment.
  20. I was away for a little while on Saturday and missed his inning.
  21. I’m not talking about any specific situation, but they said yesterday that they only had 2 pitchers available in the bullpen. Maybe they wanted him to be available to pitch in the Cubs series so didn’t want to use him yesterday. But if he can only pitch an inning a week he’s not helping anything.
  22. The home team makes the decision whether or not to start a game. Once it starts it’s in the hands of the umpires.
