  1. Sounds like Woodruff’s IL stint is going to be longer than the 15 day minimum. Shocker.
  2. I have seen all of the stats, including the 55 runs they scored in 6 games against the Reds, 49 runs in 10 games against the Cubs, and 33 runs in 6 games against the Pirates. That's 6.2 runs per game in 22 games against those 3 teams. In 35 games against other opponents the Brewers have averaged 3.2 runs per game. I also saw the FanGraphs preseason projections which had the Brewers 20th in MLB in runs scored, and that was with Yelich having a projected OPS over .800. So, even if everyone in the lineup performs up to realistic expectations, I wouldn't expect them to be top quarter. When I look at the current statistics for runs scored, I focus on runs scored per game, not total runs scored, for reasons that should be apparent. By that measure the Brewers are 16th in MLB and 11th in the NL. Being tied for 1st in the NL in HR while being 11th in runs per game says something about the offense being highly dependent on HR, which isn't necessarily a good thing. The Brewers have a ways to go to be a top quarter offensive team.
  3. Yes, this is tonight. Note that the activities are not on the field but in a beer garden and out in the right field corner of the upper level. So, they should be easy to avoid. I had to chuckle at some of the comments about this not being family friendly. Is that as compared to the two fisted slobber hurling obscenities for much of the night?
  4. This lineup is something of a variation of the one I was proposing a few days ago. It’s affected by Wong and Narvaez being out and Taylor getting a day off as he has been showing the strain of trying to carry the offense the last two weeks. I don’t understand why you’d put McCutchen 5th and Renfroe 7th instead of the other way around unless they think it might be easier on Renfroe’s hamstring having two weak hitters behind him. If he gets on base he probably won’t have to run much anyway. The way things stand now, when Wong and Narvaez are available I would be inclined to use Peterson against RHP and rotate him through positions to let some of the regulars take a turn at DH, much like they did when McCutchen was out. Peterson has contributed a lot more than McCutchen over the last month.
  5. Hopefully, when we look back at this season, May and June will be the low point due to a difficult schedule and several injuries coming at the same time after a first 26 games that featured a lot of series against teams that were really struggling at the time. Since that 18-8 start in which the Brewers outscored their opponents 128-87, they have gone 15-16 and been outscored 121-137. That record is worse than the Reds (17-13) and virtually the same as the Pirates (14-15). It's hard to know at this point how much of that is stronger opponents, the road heavy schedule with few days off, injuries, or just subpar performance.
  6. Top quarter of MLB is pretty generous if it’s just those 4 playing to expectations without major improvements at LF, CF, and DH.
  7. Crap. Really thought Peterson was the best chance to at least tie the game.
  8. Now Corey Knebel will come in to add insult to injury.
  9. It had to happen sometime, but it really hurts when the team is struggling to score and badly needed a win.
  10. Bottom of the order and mostly lefties was tailor made for him.
  11. I know the options are limited these days but Milner pitching in a tight game does not inspire confidence.
  12. It did land foul behind the bag, but that’s not the rule. On a ground ball it’s where it is when it passes the bag. For a ball that bounces a couple inches foul a few feet behind the bag it almost certainly passed over some part of the bag.
  13. Hiura not only has an erratic arm, but it’s weak too. I thought that throw was never going to get there.
  14. Yeah, he got turned around and made it look more difficult than it had to be.
  15. I think so. That would irk me too. I’m not a dog hater by any means, but I’d rather not be around ones I don’t know. When I do my 3-4 miles of exercise walking every morning I don’t like coming across unrestrained dogs.
  16. Levering may be hoping the next ball goes right to Hiura but I’m not.
  17. So now Wong is out and it instantly causes a problem.
  18. Of course not, but you often hear complaints when a team gets a bloop hit or a seeing eye single. On TV when I saw that leave the bat I thought it would be a solid hit to LF driving in a run. When the camera first got to Reyes I thought he had caught it on the fly.
  19. I don’t put a line drive that the 3rd basemen can only grab on a short hop because it was hit right at him in the same category as a ball driven directly into the ground that takes a couple of Sunday hops to one of 3 infielders on the right side.
