  1. This magic number may have to be retired.
  2. All Cubs and Brewers. Don’t count on any help. I mean, you also basically predicted the Reds to win their whole September schedule. It would be highly unlikely for the Cardinals to win all 7 against the Cubs. Come on, I never said anything close to that. I said that playing the Pirates and Marlins would be easier than playing the Giants and Cardinals. That seems pretty hard to argue with. I’m not saying the Cards are going to win all 7 from the Cubs, though it is possible considering the Brewers beat them 11 in a row. What I am saying is that the Brewers shouldn’t count on getting any help. They have to find 3 wins as soon as they can so they don’t have to win them in St.Louis and LA.
  3. Have we heard if Strickland has gone on his paternity leave yet? I was thinking they would need him tomorrow with Anderson on the mound.
  4. The scoring problems started in Detroit, were interrupted briefly by the Cubs pitching, and have come back the last 3 days. As Counsell said last night “It’s been a dry week except for a couple of innings”. Not enough traffic on the bases to generate runs.
  5. I see Counsell in the dugout and the postgame press conference last night and his body language isn’t saying “no worries, we’ve got this locked up”. He’s seeing their plan for resting players and managing pitchers’ innings for two weeks go down the drain. I don’t think he wants to go on the road next week to play the Cards and Dodgers with the division not locked up yet anymore than I want to see it.
  6. Have the Brewers had any ground ball outs in this game? I can’t think of any. All strikeouts and pop outs.
  7. This is what happens to a team in a group hitting slump. Everyone is up there trying to hit a HR instead of trying to get on base. At least they aren’t wasting scoring opportunities.
  8. They're 2.5 up on the Reds and 4 up on the Padres. They're probably handling this better than some Brewerfans are. Truth. I’m sure they’re handling it a lot better. Because their team is a perennial playoff contender and has won some World Series in their lifetimes, this season is not a big deal to them. There were articles about how their fans were not excited about the second wild card spot because they had written this season off some time ago (probably when all of the projections had their chances of making the playoffs at something like 1 or 2%). So, this is now all a bonus to them.
  9. 15 innings now in this series and the Brewers have not yet had an AB with a runner in scoring position (unless they had one when I wasn’t looking).
  10. It's mostly a reaction to who we are playing. It’s entirely a reaction to who the Brewers are playing and how that team is playing. And the fact that the Brewers still have five more games against that team.
  11. Another no stress inning for an opposing starter. In his 2 outings he has now pitched the equivalent of a complete game 3 hit shutout against the Brewers.
  12. Yeah I think you’re right although I don’t have any stats to back it up. Just seems like the Brewers have a tough time stringing together a bunch of runs unless there are walks and errors involved. Hence, why they scored a bunch of runs in Cleveland for example (errors). Then on Sunday, the game we attended, the Cubs handed the Brewers runners on errors, walks, and a hit batter, and the Brewers response was double plays.
  13. Only Thursday. Mikolas is a good pitcher who’s rounding into form as he returns from an injury. He’s coming off 6 shutout innings against the Padres last week. And he’ll be going against the Brewers number 6 starter makimg his first appearance after an injury. Advantage Cardinals.
