  1. Do you know what they are in Atlanta? My perception/ recollection is that the Brewers have lost a lot more series than they have won there over the last 10 years or so. http://mcubed.net/mlb/atl/mil.shtml Thank you. These numbers confirm my recollection. Going back to 2011, the Brewers have lost the season series in Atlanta in 7 of the 9 years while winning 10 games and losing 22.

  3. That’s my impression too. Atlanta and San Francisco both seem to be hard places for the Brewers to win. Maybe it’s the unfriendly HR environments.
  4. Love seeing it but I always find myself imagining how great this offense would be with a 2018/2019 version of Yelich I am worried we may never see that version again. I’m hoping for the first half of 2018 version. I think we forget sometime that he was merely All Star caliber then, not HOF caliber.
  5. You mean the Royals are beatable?
  6. Looks like the Cardinals strategy for getting back in the race is to throw every bum lefty starter they can find in the 13 games remaining against the Brewers.
  7. Has any team ever unloaded as many of its most visible players in two days as the Cubs are doing now?
  8. Taylor has been stellar the last two weeks, and he should be getting regular playing time at least until Yelich is able to play again. But, before I make long term plans around him I would want to make sure he isn’t just in a Hurricane Hazle hot streak. Anyone who knows the history of the 1957 Braves knows what I’m talking about. Like I said when Cain was reactivated, I never concern myself too much with how some of these guys are going to get playing time. Something always seems to come up and, if it doesn’t, you just have a good bench and more flexibility for getting players time off. It makes those notorious “getaway day lineups” a little more potent.
  9. I was looking at the schedules today and, for the most part, the Brewers and Reds have very similar schedules. The biggest differences are the Brewers having 13 games against the Cardinals and 6 against the Pirates, and for the Reds that’s reversed. Also, the Reds have 7 games against the Marlins and the Brewers have 7 against the Giants. The Reds will have an opportunity to pick up some ground by beating up on the Marlins and Pirates as those teams have shed some of their better players.
  10. At least if you are a Pirate fan my age you would have the memory of 3 thrilling World Series wins to keep you going. Brewers fans my age don’t have that. And most Pirates fans are just biding time until football season anyway.
  11. It has to be. With Cain back and Escobar coming they are really improving depth and bench in addition to the starting lineup. And with so many pitchers they can’t really afford to have two guys who are purely left handed hitting first basemen, unless they think they have enough versatility that they can afford someone to be just a pinch hitter.
  12. The Brewers need (or at least could use) another big bat for those low scoring games that are more common against better teams, and that the Brewers have had plenty of against teams not named Pirates, Rockies, Diamondbacks or Cubs. If they could level off some of the feast or famine offense, they might be able to create more save opportunities and win more of those games in which the pitchers only allow 2 or 3 runs.
  13. Rain could be an issue tonight. What would a trip to Pittsburgh be without at least one rain delay.
  14. Was thinking the same thing. Hopefully they don’t have too many games against the Reds the rest of the way. After tonight the Reds have 7 more against the Cubs and 13 against the Pirates. Just 3 against the Brewers and 6 against the Cardinals.
  15. That right there is a first class organization. Seems weird, but he isn't starting (presumably not throwing at all) tonight. They probably still have potential trades in the works.
  16. I’m seeing Oviedo as the Pirates starter tonight. He hasn’t gone more than 2 innings in any of his appearances this year.
  17. This is the latest example of why I never worry about having “too many” guys at a certain position. Something always comes up to take care of it.
  18. T. Anderson shut out the Brewers to end their 11 game winning streak. Just one of several lefty starters to befuddle the Brewers recently. Hopefully the success against Rodon will signal a reversal of that trend.
  19. If you don’t like seeing a grown man cry you don’t want to be around me after a Yelich AB with runners on base. It is so sad to see someone go so fast from someone you want to see up in a big situation to one of the last guys you want to see up. It’s also sad to lose a game because of a walk to a crappy number 6 hitter and consecutive hits by a bum, a weak hitting backup catcher, and an American League pitcher. A lot of guys in the lineup had a pretty weak hitting home stand. I hope Counsell rides Taylor for a few days until he cools off. He hit 3 bullets tonight, and along with the 2 by Bradley those were about the only hard hit balls they had.
  20. Putting Bradley in the lineup and sitting Garcia against a very tough RHP doesn’t upset me.
  21. Urias is not in the lineup tonight and Jose Ramirez sat out of the Indians game. Is that the kind of thing that gets rumors started?
