  1. I was hoping for Giannis but he’s at Disney World today.
  2. I’d go with Hader. His last few outings have been shaky so give him an inning now with a cushion and he’ll still be available tomorrow if needed.
  3. The Brewers don’t play the White Sox down there. Just like with the Cubs, there are more flatlanders that come here than the other way around because the park here is nicer and more accessible than theirs.
  4. I think Brewers attendance is lower than usual because they didn’t get the advance and group sales that they usually get. Focus on the Bucks has probably also affected walk up attendance.
  5. Not the best time for a quick 1-2-3 inning to send Burnes back out with not much rest.
  6. I would have Burnes taking 3 strikes here. No need to risk a DP or an injury. Just saw that Scherzer was scratched tonight because of a bat swinging injury.
  7. They said he might be ready when he is eligible to come off the IL next week or shortly thereafter. Fingers crossed.
  8. That’s what I hope they do. Taylor has a lot more value as a pinch hitter than Hiura, and Tellez and Peterson can produce more against those occasional left handed opposing starters than Hiura. There might also be movement on a right handed hitter who can play 1B before the trade deadline. It’s unfortunate, but Hiura has virtually no value right now.
  9. Bullpen has a 2.79 ERA so far in July entering tonight, the 4th lowest mark in MLB. 4.55 FIP this month is less encouraging, but they've been keeping runs off the board at least. I’m focusing on the more recent future, starting with Hader’s blown save against the Mets and subsequent two losses against the Reds, and then the impact of not having Williams and Boxberger available. A part of the problem, or at least the perception of one, has been the number of games in which the margin for error has been so small because of low run production.
  10. I’ve always considered it batting around if every spot in the order comes up in an inning. But, apparently that isn’t a unanimous, or even majority, opinion. For example, tonight an announcer might say “Wong is leading off here again in the 8th as the Brewers batted around in the 7th.”
  11. I’ll take the walks but I’m a little nervous about the Brewers pitchers getting the same treatment.
  12. The Brewers have gotten the minimum out of their golden scoring chances tonight.
  13. Some have been calling for him in higher leverage situations, let’s see if he’s up to it.
