  1. I doubt if they would be much improved, if they would be improved at all, when you factor in who would be playing in his place. This team is full of holes and Yelich is just one of them.
  2. One good thing about a team that is obviously going nowhere is that games like this don’t upset me.
  3. We’ll have to agree to disagree on both the strategy and the execution. On the first pitch, Ortiz made a hopeless stab at the ball and on the second he dropped the head of the bat down, which is most likely going to lead to a pop-up
  4. Tell him to go up there concentrating on hitting to the right side. Do that and you probably have a better chance to move the runner to third with either a ground ball or fly to right. Maybe by concentrating on going to right would improve that .169 average. The bad execution reveals that he doesn’t have good fundamentals for laying down a sacrifice bunt. That makes it a terrible call in my book.
  5. There are several things about Levering that annoy me but the most frequent is the “SWEEEENG” thing. Maybe I was imagining it but when he was on the Fox telecast on Saturday it didn’t seem like he did it anywhere near as often. Or maybe it was just that Wainwright was so annoying that Levering seemed OK.
  6. 3 for 16 is pretty close to what the team BA has been this month so it’s about what you should expect.
  7. I was just going to say something to the same effect. Yesterday Mears gave up a ringing double and the saved home run. You have to wonder if he is showing the sign of heavy usage. There are several others at risk of the same.
  8. So, 4 straight Salvage Sundays in a row. The Brewers are now 3-0 in the games we’ve attended this season. Nice to salvage a win, but I had to chuckle listening to the postgame on the radio on the way home. They were talking to Frelick about how hitting can be contagious and getting a few RBI hits can turn things around. Maybe the offense will start producing, but I can’t ignore the fact that today’s 3 run inning was triggered by a minor league pitcher loading the bases with walks. After the 2 RBI singles the Brewers had no hits for the rest of the game. Maybe the struggling Orioles can provide a remedy.
  9. At the game today hoping for a Salvage Sunday. After that first inning it’s more likely that we’ll be home by 3 watching the end of a no hitter on TV.
  10. One of those games where the vastly superior team pounds on a bad team. Like the Cubs rolling over the White Sox.
  11. But the Twins rook a hit and an RBi away from him by putting a fielder right where he hits the ball 80% of the time.
  12. He did, but that’s about as far as he can hit it unless he’s got a gale behind him like he did on Wednesday
  13. This is a mismatch like playing the Cubs. The Brewers can’t compete with a team that consistently puts the ball in play with hard contact.
  14. Correa and Buxton collided going after a popup in today’s game in Baltimore. Correa left the game immediately and Buxton left after an inning. The report now is that both players are in MLB’s concussion protocol which could affect their availability for this weekend’s series. Maybe a bad break for a team that has won 11 straight.
  15. With the off day tomorrow just bring Megill in. Don’t wait until there is trouble like that infamous game in AZ.
  16. Yes, they are that desperate. They finally get a multi run inning and they act like all of the problems are solved and now the runs are going to flow freely.
  17. When almost nobody in the lineup is hitting it doesn’t make any difference what order you hit them in.
  18. It’s probably not the stupid phone, but this stupid site. It is so bloated with ads and sluggish that it often takes me several minutes to get it to complete a two sentence post.
  19. When the team stinks I guess we’re supposed to get excited about meaningless milestones. Peralta’s 1000 K’s is worth a mention but that’s about it.
  20. In large part because the Cubs have played by far the toughest schedule in MLB. Only 9 of their 41 games have been against teams under .500. They are done for the year with all of their games against the Dodgers, Padres, and DBacks and have played one of their series against the Mets, Phillies, and Giants. That’s 29 of their 41 games so far against the top teams in the NL. The Brewers have played 7 games against those teams and went 2-5 in them.I’d hate to think what kind of record the Brewers would have if they had that schedule. For the rest of May, the Cubs play two series against each of the Marlins, Rockies, and Redsand one series against the White Sox. Let’s see how things look in 3 weeks
