  1. In 2020, when Urias had a .608 OPS and Grisham had .808 OPS and won Gold Glove plus Davies had a 2.73 ERA - the trade looked pretty dim. Now, in 2022 the trade looks great. Probably still for both sides despite Grisham’s slow start.
  2. Good point. I suppose my observation is Singleton profiles similarly to Rowdy and having two players limited exclusively to 1B/DH could be tough when rosters contract to 26. A LH power bat off the bench seems always appropriate, though.

  4. It is too bad Jon Singleton is a LHB like Rowdy. I don't think Milwaukee wanted two LH 1B/DH types with Tellez and Vogelbach. I'm not sure McCutchen is our long-term solution as DH against RHP. Singleton has a .948 OPS against RHP in Triple-A through 31 AB. As a team, the Brewers have .562 OPS from the DH position - which is better than the .313 OPS from 3B. Singleton might be our best option as DH against RHP.

  6. Is it more likely Valerio or Weimer gets a call up before a hitter from Nashville? Can Valerio play more than 2B? If Rowdy got hurt, I definitely think Singleton would get his shot. Urias hopefully is healthy soon.

  10. 2021 salaries: Realmuto: $20 million Perez: $14.2 million Molina: $9 million d’Arnaud: $8 million Contreras: $6.65 million Maldanado: $3.5 million Narvaez: $2.5 million Dollar for dollar, I think Omar maybe among the more productive catchers on this list. Remember, he is only supposed to hit RHP. Anything more is gravy.

  13. Omar was the ninth most valuable catcher in baseball in 2021 according to WAR. Over the course of a season, that seems pretty good to me. Omar had an .805 OPS against RHP pitching in 2021, which is what he is meant to do. Feliciano doesn’t have an extra base hit in Nashville yet through 25 PA. Overall, I’m pleased with how Milwaukee has handled the catcher position in recent years.

  17. Do we anticipate the Brewers farm system will get more love during mid-season rankings? We are currently #25 system according to MLB.com. What should we reasonably expect?

  19. On a positive note: only one walk issued by Brewers on Thursday against the Cardinals. The Washington Nationals allowed the most walks this year at 42 through eight games. Milwaukee pitching is second with 33 BB through seven games. The Twins somehow have issued 31 BB through six games. I wonder how Twins fans are responding to the start of their season?

  21. ‘In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance Pittsburgh fans haven’t, the Pirates have managed to win a few ball games and are actually out of the cellar’ Last night’s attendance in Pittsburgh: 9,266 Dan Vogelbach, Brian Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes off to good starts. Pirates have the # 1 batting average, # 2 slugging and # 3 on-base percentage in the National League. Vogelbach batting lead off the past two nights.

  23. I agree, we are unlikely to make a proactive move to get Caleb Boushley a big league start. I thought the same thing before Alec Bettinger got a start for the Brewers, last May. I’m not sure Bettinger profiles a ton better than Boushley.
