  1. It is worth noting that many of these contracts are ‘bad contracts.’ In other words, the teams are receiving negative or minimal value in exchange for the spending.
  2. After this year, Yelich is still owed $130,000,000. There is not a scenario when the team says ‘enough is enough’ for several years.
  3. Would we want to pursue him closer to the deadline? 1.74 ERA 19 K 10.1 IP Affordable one-year contract
  4. Thankfully, the Pirates play the Rays and Blue Jays next week.
  5. His bat is better because of the rest/recovery?
  6. I think it is alright for people to miss 7-year Brewer veteran, Brent Suter. He had a career ERA of 3.51 for Milwaukee. I think the front office felt, correctly, they could get similar production for less than $3,000,000 salary this year.
  7. Milwaukee and Saint Louis hitters have identical BABIP, suggesting similar luck. Both third-highest in MLB. If both teams regress on BABIP then in theory, both offenses decline.
  8. I see the Cardinals’ pitching has third-worst BABIP allowed and third worst HR/FB % in MLB. If that regresses to middle of the pack, they will improve. They also are third-worst for hard hit percentage allowed, which could also mean hitters are just hitting Cardinal pitching hard this year.
  9. Hunter Greene on the mound for the Reds, today. Pirates roughed him up a little on Opening Day.
  10. What data could Fangraphs be using to predict the Cardinals will outperform Milwaukee the rest of the way?
  11. After 22 games, anyone buying the Pirates finishing in second place or having 82+ wins? They need to go 67-73, the rest of the way.
  12. Is a league minimum reclamation project so far off-brand for Milwaukee?
  13. Oakland wins the trade?
  14. The season Barry Bonds hit 73 HR, he averaged a HR every 6.5 AB. Hiura is only averaging a HR every 7.4 AB in Nashville. Hiura striking out 32.7% of AB.
  15. Managing the Oakland A’s. At age 47, he might write himself into the lineup soon.
  16. The Brewers at 13-5 is even more exciting given the lack of cupcake opponents. Pirates and Cubs still playing well and Cardinals are 6 GB. Cardinals run differential doesn’t provide immediate hope for a quick turnaround.
  17. Do this year’s Oakland A’s have what it takes to break the 1962 Mets’ record of 120 losses in a single season? Currently on pace for 134 losses.
  18. Dodgers seem like they are in a funk. They do not seem like world beaters to me.
  19. He was, for a spot start while Marco Gonzales is on paternity leave. Looks like he pitched well for his one game. Then, DFA’d
  20. I see LHP Marco Gonzales is on paternity leave and could conceivably pitch in game three for a Seattle but that seems like a short leave.
  21. I’m glad we miss Luis Castillo in Seattle. I also noticed 36-year old LHP Tommy Milone was otherwise in-line to be the starting pitcher in game three, until he was designated for assignment. Almost seems like poor scouting to DFA Milone before the Milwaukee series. Milone had 1.93 ERA in his one 4.2 IP start last week.
  22. If any of the guys we received from the trade become above average, I will be fine with the trade. We did not need Renfroe and his salary in 2023 or beyond.
  23. Renfroe went 0-3 with 2 K today, lowering his OPS to .869. Brewers win the trade.
