MLB players (rightly) view salary caps as a means to restrict player salaries. It will be tough to achieve a cap during next collective bargaining agreement.

I don’t think it is fair to force Adames to take less money and it is not reasonable to have a system whereby the Brewers believe it is reasonable to pay Adames $182 million. I also don’t think I like ‘franchise tags’ either. I appreciate this topic is agree to disagree for many, though.

Worth noting: Adames has zero all star selections. He is a good likable player sometimes confused for a great prayer. Adames turns 30 this year and is not likely to improve upon past performance. Joey Ortiz has higher WAR than Adames in 2025. (Less low?)

Naturally, Canha has .976 OPS this year. Only 21 PA though -
Adames is very easy to cheer for. I think he left on as good of terms as any multi year Brewer could. There is no way Adames brings $182 million of value to any club. In that sense, we wish him well.

Severino allowed 11 H and 6 R (3 ER) over 5 IP on 3/30/24. against Milwaukee. Bauers and Hoskins both had success against Severino. This was Hoskins early season HR last year.
