Little question on how @treego14will construct his rhyming post today. Arrighetti will make his seventh career start after debuting last month. He has pitched much better at home (3.68 ERA) compared to his three road starts (12.34 ERA).

Also, is it bad if I believe this lineup would look better if Jake Bauers were in it? I suppose it is as good a day as any to give some of our lefty bats a rest. I do fully expect some of the lefty bats to emerge from the dugout after the starter is pulled in the sixth inning.

I love how someone like Joey Ortiz can ride the bench for several days and then become our number three hitter. We take platoon advantage very seriously here.

Bauers does not seem to be at risk of losing a roster spot before the all star break. 1.109 OPS in May. And .908 OPS over past 30 days. According to Baseball Reference, Oliver Dunn, Jake Bauers and Rhys Hoskins all have 0.4 wins above replacement level this season. -
This has been said many times already, but we have Contreras for another three full seasons after this year. We really don’t know if we want the highest paid 30+ year old catcher. We don’t really have to think about it, either.

Good point. I feel like all those names are not returning in the next 30 days. Could be interesting to see what Hicklen can do for a month. If we end up losing him on waivers after someone returns 🤷♂️ Hicklen has options once he is added, fwiw. I feel like we can afford to DFA a few players once people return from injury.
