  1. Found the box score from the game I decided I really dislike the Astros and the train at Enron: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/HOU/HOU200104040.shtml I really wanted Leskanic to close this one out.
  2. Fair enough. There are plenty of unconventional moves. At the same time, the team is over performing everyone’s expectations entering the season.
  3. The Brewers are second in MLB for on base percentage, slugging, and runs scored.
  4. The 2024 Milwaukee Brewers seem to be a quintessential “bite of the apple’ team. We might as well keep the team together and perhaps add someone at the deadline and see how things shake out.
  5. Mauer was just a singles hitter, though. 🙂
  6. Turang has .350 OBP versus LHP this year. Zero power and small sample size, though.
  7. Joey Ortiz has .367 OPS against LHP (22 AB) .966 OPS against RHP (70 AB) 2024 stats
  8. Also, is it bad if I believe this lineup would look better if Jake Bauers were in it? I suppose it is as good a day as any to give some of our lefty bats a rest. I do fully expect some of the lefty bats to emerge from the dugout after the starter is pulled in the sixth inning.
  9. I love how someone like Joey Ortiz can ride the bench for several days and then become our number three hitter. We take platoon advantage very seriously here.
  10. Reese Olson’s record is 0-4. He does not know how to win games.
  11. Bauers does not seem to be at risk of losing a roster spot before the all star break. 1.109 OPS in May. And .908 OPS over past 30 days. According to Baseball Reference, Oliver Dunn, Jake Bauers and Rhys Hoskins all have 0.4 wins above replacement level this season.
  12. This has been said many times already, but we have Contreras for another three full seasons after this year. We really don’t know if we want the highest paid 30+ year old catcher. We don’t really have to think about it, either.
  13. Good point. I feel like all those names are not returning in the next 30 days. Could be interesting to see what Hicklen can do for a month. If we end up losing him on waivers after someone returns 🤷‍♂️ Hicklen has options once he is added, fwiw. I feel like we can afford to DFA a few players once people return from injury.
  14. Do we have a reasonable way of adding Brewer Hicklen to the 40-man?
  15. With last night’s injury, this probably is ill timed. Player A: 0.4 WAR, 131 OPS+ Player B: 0.4 WAR, 127 OPS+ 2024 stats
  16. Did anyone else expect Janson Junk earlier in this game?
  17. Jake Bauers is approaching.900 OPS over last 52 AB.
  18. An interim manager seems better for Saint Louis. The Cardinals are on pace to lose 100 games. That just can’t happen. The team hasn’t had a month that was meaningfully above .500 since 2022.
  19. 35-year old Miles Mikolas is 2-5 this year with a 6.43 ERA. 32 K in 42 IP. Mikolas took the loss against Milwaukee on April 20. He allowed 9 H, 3 HR and 5 ER in 4.2 IP. Bryse Wilson has 1.1 IP against Saint Louis this year. All in his April 20 relief appearance. No runs, hits, walks or strikeouts. Wilson earned the win as DL Hall went only 3.2 IP.. Brewers won 12-5 on April 20 on 18 hits.
  20. Would the beat reporter be at risk of losing their job if they asked tough questions? Or, would they risk losing special access in someways?
  21. Last 30 days for Jake Bauers: 50 AB .260 / .327 / .540 = .867 OPS
  22. Reds second baseman Matt McLain is hopeful he’ll be able to return to the lineup in August. Top prospect and standout shortstop Edwin Arroyo had a season ending labrum surgery. Encarnacion-Strand: The 24-year-old is expected to be out for four to six weeks.
