  1. Anyone get lower than 0.01% today?
  2. Do we shield Frelick from 35-year old lefties this year?
  3. Career numbers versus Quintana Yelich: .586 OPS (33 PA) Hoskins: 1.133 OPS (15 PA) Adames: 1.355 OPS (11 PA) Contreras: 2.500 OPS (4 PA) Sanchez: .250 OPS (4 PA) Bauers: 2.000 OPS (1 PA) link
  4. He did have a lot of middle middle location, though. At least, in the early innings that I was paying attention to.
  5. Good: Jesse Winker lines a single to right. Bad: Tries to turn it into a ‘hustle double’
  6. A lot of middle middle location from Burnes in his first inning. He has not performed well on Opening Days. Brewers win the trade.
  7. 42 starts from Houser, Teheran, Lauer and Junk 32 starts from Burnes 11 starts from Woodruff That’s a lot of turns in the rotation to fill but most of these innings will be at better than replacement level. 2023 starts
  8. I think the Brewers can conceivably be in first place after today without playing a game 🙂
  9. Just swapping Burnes with a replacement level starter? Plus, Devin Williams will be replaced with a less elite but reliable arm?
  10. We can legitimately be better at every offensive position in 2024.
  11. @NYM 2-1 (we are the better team) MIN 1-1 (seems right) SEA 2-1 (not sold on Seattle being great) @CIN 2-2 (road split) @BAL 1-2 (road loss) SD 2-1 @ STL 1-2 (because Cardinals) @ PIT 2-2 (we can split the Pirates) NYY 2-1 (overrated) TB 1-1 16-14 record
  12. I also don’t recall our starters getting chased before the 5th inning very often in 2023.
  13. Good point, Saint Louis could also regress due to age and injuries.
  14. We didn’t have Woodruff for most of last year. We lost Burnes (3.5 WAR) and Williams (2.6 WAR) is hurt. At a minimum, they will be replaced with replacement level production. Plus, Hoskins, and other improvements on offense should minimize regression.
  15. I guess I do not see the meaningful external improvements made by other teams in the division. Aside from the Reds adding Brent Suter. Brewers added Hoskins, which could be a huge improvement. All teams in the division will be relying on youth. Milwaukee’s prospects have just as good of chance to improve or regress as other team’s prospects.
  16. 88 wins No way did Milwaukee regress 15 wins compared to last year.
  17. Rea is officially listed as game 3 starter for Sunday. Hogg said Hall or opener for game 2 but nothing formally announced. If Junis is hurt, I suppose that leaves Ross for home opener. You’re right that Peralta would be on ‘normal rest’ for home opener, too. That seems unlike the Brewers to do but maybe with injuries?
  18. We sure are hitting the ball. Nice to see this possibly translate into opening day.
  19. Strzelecki still has an option remaining and could appeal to clubs in search of bullpen depth since he wouldn’t require an active roster spot
  20. Any guesses for home opener?
  21. Peralta pitches opening day. Game 2 is TBA? Joe Ross? Sunday is Rea Junis for home opener?
  22. We can finally redeem ourselves for releasing a reliever that ultimately produced a career ERA+ of 95 to this point.
  23. Brewers will be better this year at: 1B 2B 3B SS (probably) CF RF I am optimistic the rotation and bullpen is deep enough to be effective. Yelich in LF with 3.6 WAR again seems fine.
  24. Brewers ranked as fourth best team in NL Central, per MLB.com power rankings. I realize these are pointless and losing Devin Williams hurts. However, Milwaukee won the division by nine games last year. No one in the division is meaningfully improved compared to last year, in my opinion. Brewers losing Burnes and Williams should still be considered near the top of the division. story
  25. April 2, 2001 Dodgers 1 Brewers 0 This was the first Opening Day I was excited for. Jamey Wright pitched great, allowing only 1 run over 7 IP. Gary Sheffield’s sixth-inning HR was the difference. Jeffrey Hammonds had two hits. Sadly, he only had 41 hits the rest of the year. Unrelated note: was Rafael Roque our worst opening day starter? 1999
