  1. There's simply NO way I'm giving up Hiura, Burnes, Peralta and Domingo for deGrom. And I say that fully realizing how valuable a guy like deGrom would be for this team (not just this year, but for the two years following as well). But, that is just way too much to give up for a SP that is only going to contribute every 5th day towards helping your team win. Peralta is already dominating MLB lineups (Yes, a small sample size I know), Burnes I think just needs to get out of Col Springs and get some confidence going again before he slips into our rotation here soon, and Hiura is a potential all-star caliber 2B in the very near future. Oh, and we're just going to throw in a guy like Santana that hit 30 bombs at the MLB level last year for S&%$'s and giggles? Like Adam said above, I'll take my chances with getting Nelson back in the rotation next year to go along with Freddy P and Hiura as our starting 2B. I'm not opposed to trading Burnes if the price is right - but no way I'm moving Burnes, Peralta and Hiura in any deal for a starting pitcher.
  2. OK - thanks for the thoughts/insight on Vassalotti - even if there isn't really much to go on yet. Certainly, someone to keep our eyes on here this year to see how he continues to progress now that he's stateside.
  3. Do we have a scouting report on Michele Vassalotti? Is he more of a command guy, or a "stuff" guy? I know he's an intriguing young guy to keep our eyes on, but just curious if anyone has a handle on what this guy brings to the table?
  4. Does the addition of Machado really even put us ahead of the Cubs for the remainder of the season? Yes, it certainly helps our lineup significantly, but our rotation would still fall well below what Chicago can throw out every single day. So, if you think that we are still behind the Cubs with Machado in our lineup, then do you really think it is worth giving up good prospects for a 1 game wild card situation? I'd love to add him to our lineup, but I just don't think it would be worth giving up what we'd have to give the O's in order to get him for the final two months.
  5. How about a Burnes, Ortiz and Nottingham offer for Realmuto? Does that at least get a call back from the Marlins? Personally, I would make Hiura off limits, as he's someone that should be contributing at the MLB level for the Brewers next year at a position of need in the organization. Heck, I have very little doubts that Hiura could more than hold his own right now against MLB pitching. Just needs more fine tuning defensively before they would call him up. If the Marlins want something more in that package, I would at least consider throwing in one of our young teenagers (Carmona, Ernesto or Rodriguez). Thoughts?
  6. I know the O's are hard to figure out, but is there a chance that they might be willing to look into trade packages for Bundy before the deadline, or is this someone that they'd keep off limits? I think he's got 3.5 years left on his contract, so I'm sure they wouldn't be motivated to move him this soon - especially since they always seem to have a false sense of competitiveness in that organization. But, with Machado leaving (probably this summer), maybe they would finally realize that they need to just tear the entire thing down and do a full rebuild? With that said, would a Burnes, Ray and Ortiz package be enough for them to consider moving him? Or, would we have to go Hiura & Burnes in a package to even get them to blink?
  7. The writer did a good job picking the teams likely to target him with the prospect capital. I ruled out the Braves as I think they are more likely to keep their arms for now and potentially trade one or two down the line for impact bats. I also don't think the Rockies stay in it long enough that trade for Degrom makes sense. I also think this guy wildly overvalues Degrom. If I'm the Dodgers, no way am I giving up Buehler for anything. He has frontline starter written all over him and is already pitching like one, why trade 6 cheap years of him for 2+ years of Degrom? Makes no sense. Someone also may want to tell this guy that Peralta is a better prospect than Burnes at this point. I feel like this guy has minimal knowledge beyond 2-3 top prospects from each team and is just grabbing names off a dated list. Yeah, there is just no way I'm giving up that entire package for deGrom. I'd have a hard time giving up both Hiura and Burnes, nevertheless both of them PLUS two of Peralta/Ray/Gatewood. Now, if we could get deGrom for Ray, Burnes and one of Ortiz/Gatewood - then sign me up for a deal like that. But I doubt we'd be the Mets highest offer in that scenario.
  8. Any idea where we'll see Michele Vassalotti pitch this summer? Or have I just missed him down in the DSL already? Was very intrigued by this guy a year ago, but I haven't seen his name pop up much this year.
  9. ZERO chance the Brewers would move Hader to any team at this point. The guy has probably been the most valuable reliever in all of baseball so far this year, and a huge weapon for this team moving forward. No way they trade him, even for a guy like Thor.
  10. Velocity was definitely up last night, and I know CC and Chase both commented about it after the game. Boy, let's hope that this is the start of a good run for Chase and he can start to get back to his 2017 form. We need that badly if this team is really going to continue to compete for the division or a playoff spot this year. Very encouraging to see that performance last night, and let's just hope that he can build off of it.

  12. Yeah, I agree with everything you've said. While, I think we'd all love to see DS go out and trade for a TOR arm, that piece is going to cost you a decent amount at the deadline - especially if you are going to find a guy that you could control for multiple years. And, Stearns has stated over and over again that he is all about creating a franchise that can be competitive year in and year out. To do that (as a small market franchise), you can't be trading away your top tier prospects for rentals. Heck, I'm not even sure if we can trade away our top tier prospects for guys that we'd only control for 1.5 years? If we are going to make a run at someone like deGrom, Fulmer, Archer, etc., then we better be prepared to give up Hiura and Burnes. That's a lot for a team like the Brewers that is going to need to keep the prospect pipeline filled, as we can't afford to go out and get the top F/A talent most years.
  13. As we start to inch closer to our 4th round pick, are there a handful of names that we should be hoping for here? Any under-the-radar type guys that we might target with this pick? Or, are they any big college arms still available that have slid for some reason? I see Beck just went to the Braves.
  14. We have enough talent that we could easily get Realmuto without giving up Hiura, but I'll also agree that package is light. If I got that offer, I wouldn't hang up the phone until Realmuto was on a plane to Milwaukee. I think Burnes, Ray, Feliciano is more realistic. If we avoid including Burnes/Peralta/Hiura, then I think it'd be something like Ortiz, Ray, Nottingham, Supak. I think either of those deals gets it done, but either trade could be trumped by a team willing to overpay...like for instance if the Nationals include Robles in a deal. As for Archer, I honestly just have no interest in dealing with such a delusional front office. There are other pitchers we can target that are equally valuable and don't require our entire farm system. Sign me up for that 2nd package of Ray, Ortiz, Notty and Supak right now - if we could get that for Realmuto. If we could somehow get JTR for any package that does not include Burnes, Hiura and Peralta, I would be elated. Something tells me though that the Marlins would need at least one of those guys (and more) in any deal for him.
  15. OK - so we'd only be talking about 2.5 years with him then. If that is the case, I'd want to hold onto Feliciano and Payton Henry, hoping that one of those two guys is ready to take over after we have to say goodbye to Realmuto. I wonder if the Marlins would have any interest in Nottingham in the deal, since we wouldn't have much need for him over the next few years if a deal like this went down.
  16. Can someone clarify this for me: does Realmuto become a F/A after the 2020 season or 2021 season?
  17. TooLive: you are probably right that a Houser/Stokes package may not be enough to even get someone like Ross or Happ, and honestly I'm not sure if I'd want to go any higher than those two guys in a deal for a SP rental? Not to belabor the deGrom talk too much - but does everyone think that it would take BOTH Burnes and Hiura to get him from the Mets? Or, do you think we could package a deal around either Burnes/Peralta and someone like Corey Ray (assuming he continues on the upward trend)? Maybe throw in someone like Medeiros or Supak and then a lower level guy? I'm guessing that they would want our top two guys for deGrom, but there's no way I'm giving up both of those guys for anyone at the deadline if I'm DS.
  18. If we were to go after a rental like Happ or Ross, what do you think we'd have to give up to get a guy like that? Would Houser alone bring back one of those two guys, or would we need to add someone else in - like Houser/Stokes? I know we had to just give up Cordell last year to get Swarzak - but Swarzak was a reliever, and I'm guessing a SP would cost us a bit more? Would people be OK giving up Houser/Stokes for a guy like Happ or Ross - knowing that you'd only have them for the remainder of this season? Again - a tough call, especially if you think that Peralta and Burnes could come up and give you just as much (without the veteran leadership) as either of those two trade candidates.
  19. I tend to agree with both of you that I'd be really afraid to gut our farm system for a TOR arm. As much as we'd all love to have a guy like deGrom to our rotation, I just feel like pitchers are so volatile and so injury prone that a deal like this could completely blow up in our face and set our franchise back 3-4 years again. I'd hate to see us give up guys like Hiura and Burnes, when they are guys that should be very productive players for us over the next 5-6 years (and very cheap). At the same time, I also want to see this franchise win a WS really badly, and opportunities to do that don't come around as often as you'd like - so making a run at it by getting a TOR arm would certainly be exciting. Really a tough call, and I guess I'm glad that DS gets to make these tough decisions, and not me.
  20. OK - I'm guessing that most of us will agree that we are going to need some starting pitching help at the deadline this year. While we've been able to manage just fine through the first 55 games this year, we still don't have anyone in our rotation that I'd feel comfortable with going up against another team's "ace" pitcher. And, if our goal this year is to win the division (or at least make the playoffs), then we really are going to need someone that at least resembles a #1 in our rotation. I had hopes that Chase could be that guy, but he's really struggled. We have literally no idea what (if anything) we'll get from Jimmy this year, and Davies has had his issues as well. With that said, and knowing how DS likes to operate - do we think that we are more likely to pursue a TOR arm that has at least a few years left on his contract, but is then going to cost us potentially both of our remaining elite prospects (Hiura/Burnes). Or, do we think that DS will want to keep the top prospects and instead try to get a guy that's in his final year and likely wouldn't cost as much? From what I can tell, here are some names that could (emphasis on "could")be available this July: Multiple years remaining: deGrom Archer Stroman Bumgarner Fulmer Duffy Manaea Hamels Rentals: Happ Ross Liriano Am I missing anyone of significance that might make one of these two lists above? Which direction do you think DS and company will take in July? Or, do we literally stand pat and hope that we get last year's Jimmy Nelson back and hope that Peralta/Burnes can help out as needed down the stretch? Again, I know it's too early to think about the playoffs, but I do think we are going to need an upgrade in the rotation if we have big goals we want to reach this year. However, I also hate to see us give up our remaining top prospects and gut our farm system, as that does not seem to fit well into DS's plan to build a consistently competitive team year in and year out.
  21. OK - new day, different prospect that I'm hoping to get more information about. What can anyone tell me about this Dylan Moore kid that we have playing for the Shuckers? Small sample size I Know - but he's really killing AA pitching so far since we signed him back in early April from the Braves. Looks like he's already 25, so certainly no spring chicken - but he was a guy that put up decent numbers until last season, which looks like it didn't go well in his first try at AA. I realize that this guy probably isn't going to amount to much down the road, but is it possible that perhaps he's made an adjustment at the plate this year that might turn him into a guy that could be a utility player for us?
  22. Wow - had no idea that Iribarren was still plugging away with Cincy. And I guess I had forgotten that he had at least a couple of cups of coffee throughout his career. Good for him.
  23. Oh boy.....the Hurricane! How quickly we forget some of these old "prospects" that put up some good numbers in the lower levels but just never quite had enough to make it as big leaguers.
  24. Great - thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a kid to at least keep an eye on, but certainly not someone that is going to shoot up prospect rankings. Just didn't know much about this guy, so I appreciate some of the first hand knowledge.
  25. I'm sure he's probably been brought up in another thread on this board, but I don't have time to go looking around for it. So, I'm going to start a thread just for him. What can anyone tell me about this guy? Obviously he's tearing it up so far with the T Rats this year, and looks like he was a kid that hit for a high avg a couple of years ago in the DSL and Pioneer leagues. But, what else do we know about his game? Is he starting to bulk up a little now as I see he's hitting more doubles. Is he a plus defender in the field? Just curious what anyone can share about this kid, and if he's someone that should start to be taken seriously as a prospect down the road?
