  1. Dear God, of all the seasons to purchase MLB Extra Innings. You guys complaining about having to listen to Matt and Rock should bite your tongue. We were stuck with the Pirate announcers. (We get every game with Extra Innings but most of the time if the Crew is on the road we get the home announcers.) These clowns are the biggest homers. It is damn depressing listening to them giggle and chortle while our guys are striking out left and right. I keep hoping they will snap out of this horrible funk they are in. It can't go on until September, can it?
  2. I still can't believe he didn't get canned after last season's collapse...
  3. Get on base regularly? On the Brewers?! I'd settle at this point for the old Brewers that might not have gotten on all that much but sent some balls over the wall on occasion. 3 HR in 9 games? Not too long ago they'd have 3 or 4 guys who'd have that on their own by now. This is the problem with having your offense dependent on HRs. These come in streaks and if the bats go cold so does your offense. I hate the Cards but I wish we approached hitting like they do.
  4. I hope he sits tonight, frankly. He could be pressing and making matters worse.
  5. Get on base regularly? On the Brewers?! Well, what could it hurt? Perhaps the kid we brought up can?
  6. We really shouldn't be surprised at what we are seeing so far this season. We saw a sneak peek at it when the club imploded last August/September. If you can't score/hit you can't win. Period. Fiers deserved a better fate yesterday. Even with a new hitting coach it appears our approach still sucks.
  7. The only good thing that could come from this is RR will find a real lead off guy who can get on base regularly instead of Gomez. :-\
  8. Was today the first game action for Smith? If so he probably needed the work.
  9. Absolutely ridiculous. I hope he did that on his own. The real hoot is because of that brilliant move we had to bring Go-Go in play second because Scooter lost his temper. At least it looks like Luc might be breaking out...
  10. But it isn't just Gomez. Lind had no business getting thrown out at 3rd the other night. Why are you pitching to a guy who has been hitting the snot out of the ball for 3 days instead of letting him walk with the pitcher coming up last night? It is boneheaded decisions by a lot of people on this team that can make you pull your hair out.
  11. I fear until we get a new GM and manager it won't matter who we put out there on the diamond. I was disappointed RR wasn't canned after that meltdown last season. You don't lead your division for 122 days and not even get a wild card spot.
  12. the penalty is going to be with fines, not balls/strikes, and the fines will be minimal. If the fines are minimal that isn't going to stop guys like Braun from stepping out and readjusting their gloves between each pitch. It would be like fining one of us a dollar for speeding.
  13. Firstly, I don't know that we've improved our first base issue at all. We have a new face, that is all I know. Lind's numbers were based off of 290 at bats, and in a league where he's seen the same pitchers for nine years. We're expecting him to get us 500 at bats in a new league with all new pitchers. The chances he will approach those numbers this year are slim. Do not forget, too, that in hitting .321, he only hit 6 home runs in those 290 at bats. Lastly, I'm not anxious. I'm merely making conversation in response to everybody who seems overjoyed by this move, and I am relating what I am seeing. I hope Lind hits 30 home runs, and helps us get to and win a World Series. I will be the happiest guy in Texas next fall if that happens. But I have been watching this game long enough, and I have watched Doug Melvin assemble teams long enough (he was the Ranger GM before coming to Milwaukee, and I live 15 minutes from the Ballpark In Arlington). Only time will tell if this team has truly improved based on today's signing. I am very cautiously optimistic. But I see a lot of hurdles. I don't know much about Lind except what I'm reading here but he's gotta be better than Overbay and Reynolds.
  14. I liked Braun until he lied to the whole world. I'll cheer for him because he wears a Brewers jersey but if he were to be traded I wouldn't shed a tear.
  15. All of Gomez' talents are from the neck down. I too am seriously sick of him and his stupidity. I don't know what was worse, watching the Packers' offense implode or the Crew's offense do another disappearing act.
  16. I wouldn't mind if it were clear that there was a plan in place. If we have to trade some veteran players to make it happen, ok. I would keep Jonathan Lucroy for one thing. I would keep Scooter Gennett. It was mentioned how the Orioles had a few platoon players, and that helped them be successful. Ok, so let's find a middle infielder that compliments Scooter. A piece that can play multiple defensive positions while providing solid hitting. Scooter isn't expensive, and won't be expensive going forward. Find that complimentary piece that can play second when we're going against a left handed starter, and spell other infielders (shortstop, third base) occasionally when he's not playing second. I like players that are strong fundamentally, and have the flexibility to play multiple places. I would keep Gerardo Parra. He's a little bit better hitter than I expected he would be. He might not keep that up, but his defensive ability alone would make him worth keeping. Work with Khris Davis, too. If he can become more patient at the plate, and raise his OBP, I like him on this team long term. He's going to provide power, not only home runs, but doubles, too. And he'll score and drive in runs. I'd keep Braun, too. I'd keep him, and I'd consult at least ten different hand surgeons, the best in the world, to see if there are any other possible solutions we've not thought of. I would consider trading Khris Davis to see what we could get for him in return. I'd like to keep him if possible, but he's still got to be more selective at the plate. I've seen him do it for spurts, then he reverts back to his old form. His defense, and his base running, are excellent. I would love to see him up his OBP more, to get on the base more, and cause more pitchers to lose their concentration. I would love it if more of our guys got on base and distracted pitchers but they always seem to be hitting for the fence when a single or a walk would do nicely. Big leaguers drive me nuts when a pitcher can't find the plate with the bases loaded and they swing and pop up ball 4 and get themselves out (it isn't just our guys who do this).
  17. But we didn't come around. We had a nice lead in the division and pissed it all away with poor play in an epic collapse. I can't think of many teams where a GM or manager would survive a nose dive like the one we witnessed this season. We do not play sound defensive baseball and we are undisciplined at the plate. I'm sick of watching Gomez swing at pitches in the dirt while he screws himself into the ground as his helmet falls off. I'm tired of the rest of the guys who swing at balls and watch strikes fly across the middle of the plate. Why can't we get a fly ball when we have a runner at 3rd with only one out? I'm weary of RR keeping his starter in there even when everyone and his brother can see he doesn't have it any longer. Why won't he have more than one guy up and throwing in the bullpen just in case his reliever can't find the plate? By the time it is obvious and he gets another one up we give up the lead or fall further behind. The way RR uses his pitchers drives me crazy.
  18. We were stuck listening to the Pirate announcers - who suck btw - and they cried like crazy because cutch got hit, like he's the only player in the history of baseball to get hit by a pitch. There is no way in hell Garza was trying to hit cutch the second time because if he did he'd get tossed and he was pitching a gem.
  19. For (at least) the second time this game. Since when did bunting with 2 strikes with someone other than the pitcher become a normal accepted practice? These guys have more problems getting on base so naturally we give up outs by bunting and bunting poorly on top of it.
  20. Do you think Narron will be going anywhere if Reonicke is still the manager in 2015?
  21. No, Reynolds blew it big time. They both blew it. Had Reynolds known the number of outs in that inning we wouldn't have had to play 13 freaking innings tonight.
  22. Another fun thing is we bought the stinkin' baseball package this year and this is what we get? Good lord.
  23. Unless we play games that aren't against the Cardinals? Well, the Cards are in our division so we play a boat load of games against them and lose most of the time.
  24. Until this bunch can figure out how to beat those stinkin' Cardinals we will NEVER win a damn thing.
