  1. 2.61 ERA in 2013 in 44 appearances for St. Louis 3.05 ERA in 2014 in 54 appearances for Texas. Pretty much a K an inning, WHIP around 1.4. He was brutal last night but the body of work seems legit. I'd hold off for now on calling for his head.
  2. i've watched 1 full inning the past two days and am already depressed. time to drink the minor league kool aid haha
  3. that's the braunie i know and love...chase that down and away for strike 3!
  4. Record: 76-86; 4th place in the NL Central Team MVP: Jonathan Lucroy Home Runs: Domingo Santana; 31 Wins: Jimmy Nelson, 15 Bold Predictions: Jonathan Lucroy will NOT be traded and instead extended. Ryan Braun will NOT be out half the season and instead revert closer to his career norms. Wily Peralta will be TRADED by Jan 1 2017.
  5. STONNNNNNE COLD STEVE AUUUUUUUUUUUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best part of the night outside that was Zach Ryder winning the IC. Dude finally gets rewarded for slaveing it out the past 5 years. Woo woo woo!
  6. Time to start the daily prayer for the 2011-2013 version of Aaron Hill and not the 2015 version...be it for trade purposes or winning game purposes.
  7. That lineup really isn't that bad on paper...bring on the new season!
  8. I prefer Plumbledore.
  9. The top 4 is pretty darn competitive, especially if Santana takes the leap to the next level and can handle the lead off spot. Like a Dave Parker lite. The bottom 4, uh, wow. I had high hopes for Villars but so far he doesn't look like much. Villar batted 9th last year at times for Houston too. Not surprising at this stage.
  10. Surely Stats Don't Mean Anything has to go to Aaron Hill.
  11. I guess you missed what he did in New York last year...and it wasn't all a product of their park. 10 era on the road and a .360 BA
  12. Yes it does, they've already punted. And that's not including a Lucroy trade that's still possible, and Ryan Braun's back acting up before the season even started. There is no chance at any magic. Scooter has a better chance of being in the All Star Game than the Brewers have of making the playoffs. Are we really that much worse than the Twins? Same questionable pitching staff, lot of unproven hitting. They contended until the final couple weeks of the season...by no means am I saying I believe in the playoffs or anything like that, but it is a feasible possibility for this team to overachieve.
  13. If the goal was winning the WS this year, I would agree. But it's not, so I don't see the downside in letting Scooter have plenty of ABs vs LHP. Downside is zero, upside is his value goes up significantly if he can prove he can play full time at 2B. Putting players in the best scenarios to succeed has nothing to do with going for a WS. He's had many of chances to hit lefties and doesn't. It's okay. He's on the good end of the platoon. His value will be just fine if a team is in the market for a 2B with okay defense. We're not trying to win the WS, but we're currently 0-0. That doesn't mean the season gets punted. Weird things happen, like the Bucks randomly finishing at .500 last year and giving the Bulls everything they could handle in the playoffs. This team shouldn't be underestimated in April, if things go right we do have pieces to hover around .500 towards the ASB. Scooter needs to be platooned until we're out of it, and then if it is necessary let him have his at bats. I don't really see him as a long term fit here anyway though so I don't see the prerogative to do so.
  14. Is he really that "angry?" Or was he just lobbying for a pay raise, similar to what we'd do if we felt we earned one at our jobs? Dude was coming off an MVP caliber season and is making 2 mil a year, saw Russell Martin sign a 5/82. I'd ask for a raise too, it's just human nature. Lucroy has never been "paid" and he's hitting 30...don't think he isn't aware that catchers decline. The Brewers are just being cautious they don't end up with a Joe Mauer contract hanging around their necks...if Lucroy is healthy in 2016 I don't think it can be 100% dismissed that we wouldn't try to extend him at the right price.
  15. The officiating was horrific the entire 2nd half, there were also a few calls that benefitted UW that were really bad, but it was by far tilted toward ND. That said, I was over the loss in about an hour. There's nothing to be ashamed of with regards to what these kids did this year, and the best part is they will all be back next year, plus Van Vliet and Pritzl will join them. Illikanen and Iverson will also be sophomores...both of which flashed during their limited time. Better days than the Sweet 16 are ahead in the next couple years, i'd wager on a final four so long as nobody bails early.
  16. About that "risk free" proposition of waiting to trade Lucroy until the deadline....
  17. Bray and Ziggler are criminally underused...Dolph would make a great heel in particular.
  18. I'm speechless at what transpired the last half hour of the game. I guess when you've got Notre Dame in there they must move on for ratings.
  19. He won't be hitting them out in Oakland. He's also not even in the same league as Jose Bautista.
  20. Dewalt...anytime I buy something else that's "cheap" or a "quick fix" I end up regretting it. Don't buy cheap, get what you want when you're looking at all the tools on the shelf.
  21. I guess at least one person isn't buying into the Brewers tanking for draft pick mantra. That line jumped out at me too. I don't think I'm putting on too big of "Brewer goggles" when I say that while this year's team isn't making the playoffs, they are going to be better than most teams are in the first year of a rebuild, especially if we get half a season of Lucroy. We have a solid, probably around MLB average, rotation to go along with what could be a close-to-average MLB offense. There are holes, and we won't be near the top of the NL Central standings, but we could be a low-to-mid 70's win team with a lot of talent coming up through the system. Considering that for most of my life the Brewers have been a low-to-mid 70's win team with little-to-no talent coming up through the system, I'm pretty excited. We are better off than I would have hoped when looking at things over the past few seasons. Thank God Gomez "found it" after being extended, and that we stunk so bad to start last season that Attanasio finally realized a rebuild was in order while he still had tradeable assets. nope, you're thinking exactly the same as me. this team is probably going to surprise some folks, particularly the haters / bearish ones.
