  1. This is how I wish I would have felt about the Bucks for about 15 years. Probably the best day to be a Brewer fan since the playoff run with CC for me. Love what we're doing on paper and hope it continues.
  2. Rangers get : Jonathan Lucroy, Jeremy Jeffress Brewers get : Joey Gallo, Lewis Brinson, Nomar Mazara, Yohander Mendez 50% of Brewerfan.net -- THIS IS ALL WE GET FOR THESE TWO GUYS?!?!?!?!?!? Some of you need a reality check. If I recall correctly we acquired (re) Jeffress in the first place via a minor league contract with a fair amount of risk. Lucroy has a year and a half left. This is a very good trade. No, we did not target A prospects, and frankly I prefer it that way. We know what these two (or more) are and have a fairly good idea of their projection, which is a good outlook. These kind of deals can help keep the rebuild on the shorter side of things rather than 5+ years...do you all not like to compete, or is drafting prospects more fun. I know what I prefer. Between this and the Smith trade Stearns KILLED it on paper. Give the young man some credit for showing the fortitude to hold out until the last minute, and then having the fortitude to pull the trigger when these guy(s) were at MAX value rather than hang onto them into the offseason and pray.
  3. Sounds like what the Twins just did. About 5 years of losing, and then sold their fans for years on "you just wait for 2016-2017 when these top prospects are going to come up and take us to the promised land." How'd that work out for them? I understand eying the A/AA talent and the premise behind it, but this isn't a vaccum and we really should focus on the player, not where they're at. If Gallo (as an example) pans out, we have a heck of a trade chip to pawn off in a year or two, or possibly a franchise player. The glitter and allure of projectable talent is just too tempting for some. Sorry but I don't want to tolerate 5-6 years of losing either, and neither should anyone else. If the "plan" doesn't work we are ruined for at least a decade. I'm all for targeting upside in the lower parts of the minors, but don't want to rule out the upper minors either.
  4. Pitching. Pitching. And MOAR pitching. Without top end pitching this team will never win a world series. And no, we will not be able to buy Jon Lester either when the right time comes.
  5. Beltre is too old. Have to get Mazara and Brinson with Hamels and Yu instead.
  6. I'd rather extend Lucroy than trade him for that abomination of a Mets deal. Pretty much taking a turd sandwich for our prime rib. It kind of bothers me that there has been a fiasco twice now of late on trades...perhaps the Brewers need to be smarter on keeping things quiet. At this point i'd package a reliever and Guerra or Nelson with him and see if the sky is the limit from somebody rather than getting cute with 3-4 other trades.
  7. Lol. Mejia is top 70 already, but nice try.
  8. Well this would be the cherry on top of this turd sundae. Sigh.
  9. This is kind of weak if there's no arm IMO. Trading elite catcher for minor league elite catcher doesn't move the dial for me, although I do really like Mejia. Really wanted an arm somewhere.
  10. @Ken_Rosenthal 51s52 seconds ago Also heading from #Indians to #Brewers if Lucroy trade goes through, per source: Ss Yu-Cheng Chang and Greg Allen
  11. @JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago Manhattan, NY Mejia the well-regarded young catcher is the deal, going to brewers
  12. Feels like I am a 5 year old on Christmas night...there are glittery presents waiting but i'm not allowed to see them!
  13. Can't believe the Twins actually made a sane, intelligent decision. Usually they'd rush to him and offer a contract extension for a small sample of good play (Suzuki, Hughes, etc).
  14. I mean, offers for 1.5 seasons of Lucroy > offers for 1 season of Lucroy > compensation pick for Lucroy. You can play hard ball all you want but eventually you're going to run out of time and back yourself up against a wall and end up taking less than what was offered. He needs to be gone on July 31st. Unless the plan is to issue Lucroy an extension, something that is a real possibility. Not saying I want it or that it's a good idea, but it's an option for Stearns.
  15. How was Peanut Tillman allowed to throw out the first pitch in our stadium? Embarassing.
  16. I was pretty little and had the privilege of seeing him play in maybe 2002, out in Seattle not long after Safeco opened. Still haven't forgotten how the Seattle fans threw monopoly money at A-Rod every time he came to the plate (was playing for Texas at the time) lol. I've always had an attachment to Ichiro as well and was surprised to read above how well he's still hitting at his age. Now I have a reason to cheer for the Marlins (or wherever he may be traded?) for the rest of the season as our own team stinks.
  17. And he's a LH bat. And he plays 1B/OF, not just a run of the mill to poor LF'er.
  18. This is insanity. Somebody is braindead in downtown Milwaukee...what in the flying bleep is the point of having restricted FA advantages if you don't USE THEM? We're weeks into FA, let it dwindle until somebody offers him 3/30 and match it. Cap rise or not this is ridiculous.
  19. God I hope it isn't 2021. I'm as big a Brewer fan as any but that is ALOT of wishing for Packer season to start. 2018 please.
  20. Little Trout is my favorite, but the landing is dangerous to your property sometimes...won't get too deep into that. Lake Tomahawk is my other.
  21. Agree re a challenge. My expectations personally were pretty low though, he blew them away by a mile for the first time i've seen him play.
