  1. Strop was really good from 2013 to 2018. In 2019 he completely fell off a cliff. At 34, I think chances are he's done. Really hope the offer is not a major league deal.
  2. I 100% agree with this. No way Stearns pays what it would take to keep Yelich. He is in his prime now and by 2023 will be in his declining years. Assuming he keeps up production he will be traded to replenish the farm after 2021 or during 2022. We are very much in the middle of a "Yelich window," which is why I am less than thrilled with the possible shrinking payroll.
  3. So we trade Hader for a headliner that profiles similar to the 1b we just added for 5 million dollars. Not a lot of value in that. This is my opinion as well and it is why I stated above that I am not huge on Kirilloff. I dont see a high ceiling there. I think an Overbay career path is much more likely unless his power numbers sky rocket in his mid-20's. I also agree the Twins likely dont trade Lewis for Hader. Thus, I doubt a Twins deal comes to fruition.
  4. If that is the kind of package the Brewers are looking at for Hader, I'd just keep Hader. Graterol has some nice upside, but a pitcher pushing 270 pounds as a 21-year-old is extremely scary. Rooker is a intriguing power prospect, but that K% is scary. Littell has the look of a back-end starter/long man. Celestino might be a future solid CF (his defense certainly plays), but he hasn't done a whole lot with the bat yet. He's only 20, though, so is probably 2-3 years away. Yeah, I'd say no to that deal. I think a twins trade would need to start with Lewis or Kirilloff as the headliner. That said, I am not even a huge Kiriloff fan.
  5. I would think the Brewers would need to include both Turang and Ethan Small to even get talks going. However, I am not sure a deal headlined by those two would get it done.
  6. Apparently it is a 1 year $5 million deal. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/rangers-to-sign-todd-frazier.html Rosenthal: "Free-agent third baseman Todd Frazier in agreement with #Rangers on one-year, $5M contract, source tells The Athletic. The deal, which includes a club option, is pending a physical." I probably would have done that over the Sogard Gyorko platoon.
  7. This tiger charm I bought must have worked, I haven't seen a tiger in my yard all year. That is basically the logic you just used. You can't know anything by what we have done this year. Stearns isn't going to spend money just to spend it, he is going to make the deals he thinks make sense. We have no clue at all where the payroll could go. The payroll cutting thing is not brand new. It has been reported nationally, specifically by Bob Nightengale. https://www.brewcrewball.com/2019/12/2/20992902/milwaukee-brewers-plan-on-cutting-payroll-in-2020-david-stearns-says-team-will-remain-competitive Bob Nightengale is not on the level of Ken Rosenthal, but he is also not a bum.
  8. The Brewers appear to have filled the 3B hole on the cheap. It may mean there is money to spent elsewhere (pitching). It may also mean reports are true that the Brewers are scaling back payroll and dumpster diving to fill homes. If we are scaling back payroll in the middle of a contention window with Yelich, then I am livid. If your going to scale back payroll, and not go for it with Yelich, then trade Yelich and Hader for a prospect haul and compete in 2-3 years. I do, however, have faith in Stearns and his front office. So I believe this 3b signing is all part of a master plan for 2020.
  9. Could a Sogard/Gyorko platoon be in order? Gyorko is a career .267 BA /.341 OBP hitter versus lefties. Sogard is a career .234 BA / .313 OBP hitter versus right handers.
  10. 3 year deal. Yuck. Explains why it took him so long to sign. Glad Stearns passed.
  11. I like this too. However, I am not convinced the Mets give up an elite bat in Davis PLUS two pitching prospects...
  12. Big +1. It just seems the Brewers and Mets make too much sense this offseason. I also think that this would be a pretty even deal.
  13. "Hear Lindblom Brewers deal is about 9.1M for 3 years" Brewers have lots of money to spend....that is about $3 million or so toward 2020 payroll.
  14. Yuck. Hope this guys never sees an MLB at bat.
  15. At one year and less than $2 million I find it hard to be pissed about this one.
  16. Can Narvaez play first? (Looks like he played one game with the Sox back in 2017) If he is a butcher at catcher, I wonder if they get his bat in the lineup at 1b every so often? I imagine the power numbers will increase playing at Miller Park.
  17. Good riddens. Counsel will not be tempted to overplay this bum. I just hope this time he really is gone for good.
  18. Welp....d'backs couldnt get it in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th. Now Goldy puts the dirty birds up. Too bad.
  19. I have no idea how they stayed in the race so long.
  20. Really really hope he is replaced for 2020...
  21. Very tough match-up. As others have stated, my hope if that Houser etc. keep the Reds off the board, we can win a 2-1 or 3-2 ballgame.
  22. Big +1. I hope the Dirty Birds take three more from the Chubs and I hope we sweep the Rats...
  23. I think I’d rather have Braun than Cain the next three years +1. Although I think they move him to LF, give him days off, and move him down in the order.
