  1. Credit to Counsell tonight for good bullpen management (I personally supported Jeffress in the 9th). Also credit to Counsell on replacing Shaw with Perez late in the game. I hate Perez, but that was the proper use of Perez.
  2. http://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2018/08/leftovers-for-breakfast-77.html I doubt anybody would want Schoop when his salary is taken into consideration. Only chance he's traded is probably if the Brewers eat $3-5 million. Even then I doubt the prospect return is much more than a bag of balls.
  3. +1. I was one of those people. I'm big into small market teams selling high... For instance, this off-season I would trade Jeffress without thinking twice. I would likely also trade Aguilar. With his body type I dont see him being a stud year after year.
  4. Unfortunately 2017 Knebel isn't ever coming back. Which is why I advocated trading high on him this off-season...
  5. He cant help himself. Must find a spot for that .295 OBP.
  6. I think non-tendered might be the right word.....not released... but yeah... he stinks and is not worth $10 million next year.
  7. I live on the West coast and from what I've read here in Tucson, Arizona, its Oakland to Vegas and Milwaukee to Fresno. However, there is an ownership group here in Tucson that wants to buy a club and bring it back here (the old Tucson AAA franchise went to Reno). I doubt that happens until 20201, however.
  8. Amen. This is why I liked the Turang pick. I am beyond happy that he has started his pro career with a high OBP. Let's hope he can keep it up despite a lack of power...
  9. I gotta think Albers is toast and Lyles is the new long man?
  10. I doubt Turang is ever a big power guy (which is my issue withe the Drew comparison). However, a slick fielding SS with a high OBP is fine with me. The guy walks and puts the ball in play. If we had taken him at #2 overall I would be upset. However, I'll take a high OBP SS late in the first round.
  11. 1. Jonathan Schoop 100% assinine. Schoop should be in the 8 hole until he shows some sign of life. 2. Hernan Perez Perez I honestly would have DFA'd long ago...low average...low obp...low power... what am I missing? Of course I admit I personally hate low obp players who cant buy a walk... My hatred for Craig Counsel is getting close to the way I couldn't stand Nedly Yost..
  12. I really really don't get the Hernan Perez infatuation...
  13. Thanks for the replies, folks. Comparison aside, the reason I shared this news is because many high school players struggle a bit when they move to professional ball. Heck, even some 4-year college guys struggle out of the gate. It is in my opinion beyond excellent news that not only is Turang not struggling but he is thus far destroying professional pitching. If he keeps this up I imagine he will be a Top 100 prospect this winter. I'm looking forward to see that he does at low-A next year. if he continues this, I imagine he is a top 50 guy.
  14. Brice Turang is on fire to start his professional career. This is a very positive sign. Hit .319 with a .421 OBP in 47 AB's in the Arizona Rookie League. Hitting .500 with a .600 OBP in 12 AB's at Helena. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=668930#/career/R/hitting/2018/ALL I spoke with a Mariners scout who saw him in Phoenix. Compared him to Stephen Drew.
  15. Spending time with family and his faith... https://sportsspectrum.com/sport/baseball/2018/02/14/mlb-pitcher-r-dickey-spending-time-family-sharing-faith-christ/ I guess if you have $20 million in the bank, what is worth more? $2 more million or a year with your wife and kids while they are young...
  16. I didnt like the Schoop trade when it happened......I really hate it now.... Schoop needs dfa'd... Can he be non-tendered this winter?
  17. Gotta wonder if thats the last we see of fat Matt Albers...
  18. Unfortunately he's already making $8.5 million this year so it isn't going to go down. That's another reason I didn't like the trade. Yeah, he has another year of control but that year of control is going to be expensive and I'm not sure if he's worth it. If he continues to be horrible I guess non-tender is a real possibility.
  19. Yeah. DFA loks like the likely remedy. Really really bad signing.
  20. Early returns on the Schoop trade not looking good. He looks like Arcia up there....
  21. If the Nationals tank I have to wonder if Max Scherzer becomes available. He's owed a boat load of money so he may pass through waivers. However, I have no idea if the Brewers could assume the contract, or even a big portion of it.
  22. I've taken a few hours to digest this trade. My initial take is that I don't like the deal. Ortiz has a big fastball and could very well end up a major league starter or at worst a two pitch effective bullpen arm. Then add in Villar and Carmona, just too much for Schoop. However, I am keeping an open mind. My view on this trade changes significantly if lights it up and is part of a playoff run. Stearns could then deal Schoop in the off-season and recoup much of what he just gave up. Maybe more, actually.
