  1. I am pretty ashamed of Wisconsin at this point. I don't know how it is in the rest of the state, but my closest school district is still in person. They are the only district in the county and surrounding area still in school. Almost every other school has been totally virtual for weeks...there is simply no excuse for our school to be open at this point. It is a rural area that has very obvious signs of a major outbreak going on and I know for a fact the two closest hospitals have full ICUs. Someone in my household tested positive a few days ago. Not surprising since they work at a daycare, but the person who owns the daycare has handled things poorly in my opinion. When an employee tests positive the close contacts are never sent home too. They would have to send kids home if they started sending home close contacts due to staffing concerns so instead only the infected workers go home. Of course (not the person in my household) many younger people in their lower 20s that work at the local school/daycare go out to bars/parties/weddings all the time...just terrible. One of the girls at this daycare had a big wedding in June that was indoors with zero masks. Do you think they were banned from the daycare for weeks along with all the other workers who went? Nope, right back to work. I am not a stay at home, never leave, don't see family, etc. kind of person....but jeez. The amount of reckless just downright stupid behavior still going on in December is pathetic. I know someone who insisted on holding their wedding last Saturday and their elderly grandparents were strapped with N95 masks and full shield sitting way way far away from everyone. Who does that to their grandparents? I honestly wonder how some people sleep at night.
  2. Someone please get Dez off Twitter. He going off the rails...not necessarily in a bad way...but he off the rails. Haha
  3. I look at Phillips Rivers and he has stats, but is he a difference maker? Does he make you go “WOW”? Can he take over a game himself? Not really. He will always be remembered for crippling poor decisions, game ending INTs, and just not getting it done. He has the most one score losses in the Super Bowl era. He has zero Super Bowl appearances and really almost no postseason success.
  4. Someone joked about the Lance Lynn trade being the "big trade" for the White Sox after some speculated the possibility Hader. Jokes on us...that Lance Lynn trade is probably bigger than anything we will do this offseason.
  5. How is Knebel worth $5mil and giving up a prospect...but Brad Hand was put on waivers (and unclaimed) at $10mil? I mean no team was willing to take on Hand and $5mil for the same price as Knebel? Heck, sending Hand somewhere with $9mil would have been a better outcome. Did I miss something with Hand? Did he lose his left hand shaving or something?
  6. Is that the case? I thought it was arbitration settlements that weren't guaranteed. This isn't an arbitration settlement, they came to terms on a contract prior to going to arbitration which would seem to be guaranteed. Too many rules :-) I believe it can be either way depending on what the sides agree to. Vogelbach has a non guaranteed contract that I believe has the same rules as an arbitration settlement (penalties for dropping him). Arcia's contract for next year is the same way. That would lead me to believe neither is necessarily a Plan A or Plan B as it stands....they are just potential guys that are stop gaps on the depth chart until we figure out if we will go a different direction or not.
  7. They definitely won't trade him and much like with Ryan Braun we will be stuck with him for eternity whether things go good or bad.
  8. COVID probably isn't helping the cause. They probably didn't have serious discussions while trying to figure out how to make a 2020 season work...and probably not when the season was going on. Didn't give them a whole lot of time to negotiate before we quickly got into the thick of the offseason.
  9. Nope, basically just drop him at that point. Best case another team claims him and I think you wouldn't have to pay the penalty on his arbitration contract. But of course...I am not really sure on that, it just makes sense like any other time you drop a guy.
  10. I think you are probably overrating the value of Yelich. He is about to be a $26mil outfielder in his 30s. Next year is his last remaining cheap year and then it is a risky $200mil investment into an aging player. I think he has positive value...but I don't think it would be a ton...unless a mega market was dying for an elite bat and paid to acquire Yelich figuring he would be much cheaper long term than someone they could find in FA. Even then those teams are so rich I am not sure slight savings is a huge deal worth giving up prospects and money to have Yelich.
  11. I am guessing the roof being open or closed would have very little effect on the spread of the vaccine. Probably would be better of with it closed and have less airflow. I get it would be "indoors" with the roof closed, but that is a gigantic open air place regardless.
  12. Something is seriously wrong when almost half the NFL is being talked about as future HOFers at QB. That’s like saying there are 10 future or likely HOF catchers in MLB right now. That’s watering it down.
  13. Because they are testing things out. Unfortunately in football to do a few test runs can take 2-4 weeks depending on the schedule. A baseball team will need a weekend to test things out. I believe they plan/hope to actually have fans against the Panthers. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/source-fans-will-e2-80-9cmost-likely-e2-80-9d-attend-the-last-two-packers-games/ar-BB1bIqOH
  14. It would actually be a decent sign. When everyone is healthy Garcia can just float around the OF as the #4 guy. Then of course injuries etc. gets him a lot of starts too. Don't know why Joc has to be the 1B...throw Garcia there. Garcia is a monster at 6-4, so if tall 1B excites you he would make more sense anyway.
  15. I mean...I don't think my expectations will be incredibly high if Vogelbach is the starting 1B.
  16. I don't necessarily disagree that the NL Central will likely be a four team race again in 2021, but what talent are the Brewers hemorrhaging? Yah...we didn't have much talent to hemorrhage. Now we may replace that with similar garbage...but, hey, at least we aren't worse?
  17. Brewers are doing things per normal (doing their holiday packs right now at the usual time). The Cardinals, however, have held off on doing anything right now. Not sure what teams are generally doing. I doubt they would start with 10%, that seems awfully low. NFL teams are doing about 25% right now, aren't they? The Kansas Jayhawks are allowing about 15% into an indoor fieldhouse. I am guessing we see 25% (or close to it) when they allow fans...maybe 10k if they like round numbers. The only way they start with less is if they are doing a test run and I really doubt it would take 2 months to figure out how to manage COVID games.
  18. I am guessing Stearns was probably somewhat aware of this when offering the contract.
  19. Nobody is giving the Brewers anything of value for Garcia or Cain. Just last week, there were comparable players who were non-tendered over less than those two are scheduled to make in 2021. Not to mention, the Brewers have no history of including cash in trades, and in a year where they took a huge revenue hit, they're just not going to do it. You would probably have to eat half their salaries just to get a bag of balls

You would probably have to eat half their salaries just to get a bag of balls. I think people forget the Avi contract is backloaded and has a big $2mil buyout on the option. He basically costs $12.75mil next year.
  21. Not saying you are wrong with your thinking because the NFL HOF tends to let in just about anyone with a decent and long career...but it is pretty pathetic the likes of Rivers/Ryan/Manning are even on the map when it comes to HOF chances.
  22. I think it is generous to call it a cable alternative. Technically you are “cutting the cord”, but its still the same concept. It appears to be cheaper, but still waaaaay more expensive than other streaming services. Offer like $200 to sign up, stuck in two year contract, massive increase in the second year. From a Google search it looks like after the first year it is almost double YouTube TV cost wise.
  23. I looked into AT&T TV for about 10 minutes...looks like it is pretty much just expensive as cable, pass.
  24. Hawaii: https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/05/business/hawaii-free-trip-remote-workers-trnd/index.html Ooof, I visited Hawaii once. Super cool, but definitely want nothing to do with living there! Haha
  25. Do you guys think we have never outbid a bigger market on a free agent? I am sure we have done it countless times. That being said I doubt we have much of a chance getting DJ. Hefty price tag for us to swallow this offseason.
