  1. They are contending now!!! So looks like it is time to delete the account. Are you like Briggs and really old afraid you will die before the next World Series appearance? Honest question because that is the only way to rationalize your thinking.
  2. They gave Neftali Feliz 5.5mil...wouldn't shock me. Think he is back regardless.
  3. Who was the comparable reliever traded that makes this move brilliant? Also are you looking at the value we got when it happened or now that Shaw has produced? I don't think a reliever as good as Thornburg with the control was traded.
  4. Not all that surprised they traded Calhoun. Defense is trash. We're going to eventually trade him eventually.
  5. He was traded. One of many late announcement. Gotta be patient.
  6. Anyone have a changed opinion on this after the Brewers made no other notable move(barring late announcement)? Kind of annoyed we traded for a rental bullpen arm and opted to get no additional help. Would have preferred no move.
  7. Jeffress 4-seamer down around 2mph and I don't know if that includes the 1mph increase everyone got due to new way to calculate speed. Could be 3mph.
  8. Hard to judge without knowing all the information. If A's preferred upside no way we match this offer without Brinson. If they hated our prospects also no way to get it done without Brinson. Also possible Stearns is too attached to our good, but not elite prospects. However I guess it is one of the first two options. Disappointed we couldn't beat that offer.
  9. Yankees got a good deal.
  10. It was said this morning Gray talks would go to last hour. So should be interesting if Yankees just ironing things out or if other teams still seriously in it.
  11. We don't know if the Brewers are even talking to the A's right now.
  12. Cause we totally knew we were going to win games and rebuilding teams totally spend big money on relievers and expensive relievers aren't risky or anything.
  13. More accurate way to look at it since they were useful last year. Brinson, Ortiz, and Cordell for .5 year of Lucroy, 14 innings of Jeffress, Taylor Scott, and PTBNL.
  14. If you don't trade Brinson or Hader what are really giving up?? Burnes is pitching great but how projectable is he? Hiura can't be traded so we're safe there. I expect the Brewers to fast track him to cover our ever gaping 2b hole. The same guy spending the rest of the year in Appleton? I think he flies through the minors, but I doubt we see him before 2019. That's being aggressive too.
  15. His stats have been a disaster across the board and last I checked his velocity was down. So yah not sure how this will fare.
  16. Interesting buy low move...but Jeffress has been a hot steamy pile of poo poo this year. Didn't really give anything up for him so not a big deal even if he flops. Move is probably going to get more excitement than it should.
  17. Still think Yanks get him, but Gray loves Milwaukee and Brewers love Gray. If A's back off Brinson demand here at the end could happen.
  18. I'd like to see a controllable reliever(2.5+ years) plus Ian Kinsler(maybe Phillips if cheap). Helps us this year, but also the future. Unfortunately the controllable relievers sound stupidly expensive so doubt that comes to fruition.
  19. Brewers dug themselves into a pretty big hole with the losing woes the last two weeks. They were actually tied with the Rockies at one point. Then they blew a tire...or four.
  20. Stokes, Shuckers open homestand with 4-3 win over Jacksonville Troy Stokes Jr. hit his first Double-A homer and went 2-for-3 in the win on Sunday By Biloxi Shuckers Troy Stokes Jr. blasted a go-ahead solo home run in the fifth inning on Sunday (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Sunday was largely a relief pitcher day on the mound. Travis Hissong got the start throw a solid 4.1 innings while only giving up a run. Jorge Lopez got the save in the 5-4 win despite giving up two hits in the ninth. The big story of the day was Troy Stokes Jr. hitting his first homerun in AA. Coming into the year Stokes Jr. was mostly regarded as a tweener not having the power to play up at the MLB level. He has done a lot this year to erase that label hitting his 15th homerun on the year. Whether it continues is still up for debate, but Stokes Jr. is making himself into a legit prospect to reckon with. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Travis Hissong (4.1 IP, 5 H, ER, 4 K) started the game while Quintin Torres-Costa (1.2 IP, 4 BB, 2 ER, 3 BB, K) Tayler Scott (2 IP, K), and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, 2 H) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Jacob Nottingham (1-4, RBI) Troy Stokes Jr. (2-3, R, 2B, HR, RBI, BB) Angel Ortega (2-4, R, 2B, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Clint Coulter doubles in a run. Biloxi Bottom of the 5th Biloxi Bottom of the 5th Troy Stokes Jr. homers (1) on a fly ball to right center field. Angel Ortega doubles (13) on a ground ball to left fielder Austin Dean. With Jacob Nottingham batting, wild pitch by Matt Tomshaw, Angel Ortega to 3rd. Jacob Nottingham singles on a ground ball to center fielder Braxton Lee. Angel Ortega scores. Blake Allemand grounds into a double play, third baseman David Vidal to second baseman KC Serna to first baseman Dustin Geiger. Jacob Nottingham out at 2nd. Clint Coulter singles on a line drive to center fielder Braxton Lee. Pitching Change: Tyler Higgins replaces Matt Tomshaw, batting 9th. Gabriel Noriega singles on a ground ball to center fielder Braxton Lee. Clint Coulter to 2nd. Rene Garcia flies out to right fielder John Norwood.
  21. At the time some experts questioned it from the Brewers point of view. Lucroy clearly didn't believe in his skills to be anything more than average. Lucroy probably surprised himself.
  22. It's possible that the Tigers just decline that option and he's available for less next year. Or that he's available for less in a trade in the winter. Highly unlikely they do that. Actually there is no chance they do that. Ian Kinsler's option is actually $12mil, but $5mil is already sunk cost in the $5mil buyout so picking it up is only an additional $7mil. They would pick it up just to trade him worst case. Ian Kinsler isn't having a great year, but still providing near average offense with good defense.
  23. What is even more hilarious is the fact you are comparing the Cubs to the Brewers. Let's see: Cubs: -Just won World Series -Coming off 100+ win season -Loaded with stars -Can handle $200mil payroll -Millions coming off books this winter Brewers: -Were expected to be one of MLBs worst teams -Terrible last year -Zero star players -Lucky to have a payroll half of what the Cubs can handle. -Can't sign big ticket FAs I recall you claiming you would be a great GM. I actually think with you at the helm we wouldn't make the playoffs this year or next year or the next. After a few mediocre seasons I think you would get us on an incredible streak of 100 loss seasons. We wouldn't sniff .500 until at least 7 years after you are fired because that is how long it would take to clean up the nuclear bomb struck roster you plan to create.
  24. Wilson isn't that controllable...only controlled through next year. Sure glad we aren't giving up one of our Top 5 prospects for a reliever having his first dominant year. What happens when we go south this year(sadly looking likely) and next year guys regress off their career years(also quite possible)? We literally just wasted a Top 5 prospect(Top 100 in baseball) for nothing because he would return pennies on the dollar next July if we tried to trade him. I understand taking risks, but 1.5 years of control getting added to this team is just stupid risky. I don't expect you "win now at all cost" guys to understand that, but it is the reality. The last few weeks has kind of confirmed adding to this team might just not be in the cards. This team has a lot of solid foundation pieces. They will compete again soon and be in a better position to sell off prospects for proven guys. Sorry, but the Cubs are in a position to trade away the farm at will and we just aren't in that position yet. If you can't understand that...welll...sorry.
  25. No StubHub has an agreement with MLB to be the official secondary market. I don't think a team can block people from using it. There just isn't a way to avoid the situation and honestly why would they? They make serious money with the large crowds. The demand is just too high from Cubs fans. They will pay high prices and Brewers fans don't want to pay some huge premium when they can go any other day for a fraction of the cost.
