  1. It would make more sense to demolish it. I imagine it would stay up unused for a while(maybe as long as it takes) until a new team comes to Milwaukee. If no new team opts to come in a reasonable time good chance it would get flattened. I don't even think putting a minor league team in it is even feasible. Miller Park does have a roof though so maybe it could find some used if baseball left. Though the new Bucks stadium downtown would probably be a much more attractive option for events.
  2. Throw in was probably bad wording on his part. No chance we get Giolito for Lucroy...not even close straight up. Will Smith would sweeten the pot and bring the needed value to pair with Lucroy for Giolito. That is what I think he was trying to say. Though to me that still wouldn't be close to enough. To be honest Giolito is virtually untouchable no matter what a team is trying to give Washington. Giolito is the top pitching prospect in baseball and almost major league ready. Actually he could start for us next year and probably make the rest of the rotation look like fools. With Strasburg likely leaving keeping Giolito is most likely a priority for the Nationals.
  3. That is what the article is trying to infer though. That is what I am getting at. Clearly he didn't have the mental toughness because he turned into a horrible player with the bat. I also don't believe he felt stiffed when he got that contract extension. If he did I am sorry, but he was poorly advised. After the second half of the season he had that was a pretty good offer. Actually anyone knowing anything about him or advanced metrics knew he was no where near those first half numbers. Bottom line I don't agree with the article and too believe he just isn't good. However, what I was saying in my prior post was that if all those issues were truly the case for his struggles he is never going to turn it around. As a pro sports player you are going to make financial mistakes, like everyone you will deal with tragedy, and you will deal with injuries.
  4. Defense is supposed to be the best skill Maldonado possesses. It is more about leading the pitching staff and I just don't think he is the guy for that. I have never been impressed how he calls a game. Also while his defense is decent it isn't anything special. Every once in a while he throws a laser to 2nd, but overall it is average to me. I think people think he is better than he really is because we watch Lucroy on a daily basis. No offense to Lucroy but his arm and throws leave a lot to be desired.
  5. Sounds like a laundry list of excuses for underperforming for 2.5 years. Sad about his child but the rest of it, well they are excuses. Perform and you'd get your payday. All I could think is wow if you need all this little excuses for why someone was completely awful for 2.5 years they will never turn it around. I hope no Arizona fans read that and get false hope. Maybe he should just retire and focus on life. Sounds like he can't handle squat the way Reonicke talks.
  6. This is getting pretty off topic but... In 2014(which I think is the real Gennett long term) he was rated the #15 2B and Rickie Weeks was #21 out of #42 players with 250 plate appearances. They combined for a 2.8 WAR which in my opinion is a pretty solid coming out of second. Yah middle of the pack isn't that exciting, but anyone wish we had a middle of the pack SS in 2011? I sure do. If we have a really solid utility guy that can play second base days we face lefties a platoon at 2nd base is pretty solid moving forward since it would minimize the need for taking up two roster spots for a platoon. Just for reference Howie Kendrick who averages a similar WAR over his career, only 1 WAR last year, and is turning 33 just got 2/$30. Sure it would be great to have one player go put up a solid 3 WAR by himself, but those are very rare at 2B these days. Only 7 players managed to do that in 2015.
  7. While I don't care about the offense a catcher gives us I don't think it "just doesn't matter". It would be nice to have someone who can lead the pitching staff and provide good defense. I just don't know that Maldonado is that guy.
  8. Scott Boras just wants more money spent.
  9. Agreed both were Top 5 prospects at their position. That is nothing to sneeze at.
  10. Yah to be honest winning is everything to him after all. Not to mention trying to take out the team option would all but assure him to not be traded. That would kill a huge portion of his value and the Brewers would then just hold onto him or trade him somewhere else. If you ask me I think I would want to go to the Nationals if I was him. Solid roster built to be successful.
  11. Who are you talking about? Are talking about the guy who has been pretty lack luster in nearly 1,000 AAA at-bats. I get that he is still on the young side, but that many at-bats at one level you should see improvement not a guy fighting to keep his line over .200/.300/.550 Penciling him as anything on a MLB roster at this point is a bit extreme.
  12. I really think it comes down to two things and I know it has already been said but... Where is our top of the line arm going to come from? are we going to be able to find that ourselves or will it require a trade? Can Medeiros become that guy and harness some control/more velocity? Will Hader beat the odds and make it as a starter...more importantly a really good one? My other concern is you need some stud guys on offense too. Who are those guys going to be? Is Arcia going to translate offensively at the top level or is he going to be closer to an Alcides Escobar player? What about Clark, Lara, Gatewood, and Harrison? Will some of those guys make an impact before 2020? Put it all together and aggressively you are looking at a .500 team in 2018, but if you ask me it will probably take another year or two after that to truly put a talented team on the field. I like the future of this team a lot, but to get over the hump we need a top of the line starter and some studs on offense.
  13. Wow if his control is concerning and he still only gives up a .228 AVG., 0 HR, 3.28 GO/FO ratio, 9.8 K/9, and a sub 3.00 FIP as a 19 year old that was placed aggressively then I am really excited to see what he does in the future. Yes there are some control issues, but he has been phenomenal outside of that. He has serious stuff and if he can polish up he can be a real force. Easily has the highest ceiling of any pitcher the Brewers have if you ask me. Seriously the kid is only 19...he has so much time to grow.
  14. I don't know maybe having 28XBH in 114games 6HRs 1SB and only 12BBs? By losing his shine I mean what's his upside? Platoon bat 8HRs 2SBs and adequate defense? Shine is over for me. He offers 0 Plus skills anywhere. Just Average or below average. Walsh only had 54XBH 13HRs 17SBs and oh over 100BBs last season batting from both sides of the plate. a near .400OB pct. You're proud of .339 against RHP. The franchise just has better options to play someone with at least a Plus somewhere vs avg/below avg. Walsh's worst OBP in any of the minor with 10games+ played in a season is .313. That would be about the avg. Gennett has given the Brewers the last 2 seasons combined as a platoon type of bat. Tell me what Shine he presents anymore? You are comparing minor league stats to major league stats...do you not see anything wrong with that? Your argument holds no water until he performs at the top level. Don't you think there might be a reason he was left unprotected and even able to be selected in the Rule 5? You act like he is some sure bet to produce. He was 25 at AA, already had prior experience at AA, and even had a good chunk of at-bats at AAA.
  15. There is a bank(I think) in Kenosha that still had a huge Christmas display up outside a week or so last I checked. Think it might be time to take it down. I don't typically mind if someone keeps white lights going around their porch in the winter since it looks kinda nice, but Christmas decorations and colors need to get stuffed in the garage.
  16. Lucroy said he doesn't want to lose and is all about winning. Well the next two years we will not be winning so, yes, I think he inferred he wants to be traded. However, I don't think he demanded a trade...more he would totally be in favor of him being traded to a contender.
  17. Jonathan Lucroy falls into the category of being a nice personality on a winning team. He really isn't afraid to speak his mind and be very vocal. However, that kind of personality is not for a losing team. The comments end up in a bad place and it stirs a pot. Suddenly you have a guy complaining about how he doesn't want to be on the team and talking bad about his teammates indirectly by saying the team will be bad this year. I would be pretty ticked if a guy is saying how we will suck as a team when he wasn't so great himself last year. I am sure his comments rubbed some the wrong way in the clubhouse.
  18. If Lucroy is doing all this because he is upset for signing a bad deal and not getting a new one this just supports how badly he needs to be kicked to the curb. If Braun is telling him to stop then I am guessing it isn't good for the locker room. Sure Braun got caught up back with the PEDs, but outside of that he talks to the media exactly how one should. Not try and stir up controversy etc.
  19. This makes no sense. Why would a 94 loss team want Wily Peralta? Sure won't compete the next two years...probably not the next three years. So why trade for Wily Peralta? I don't see it at all.
  20. Thanks Braun put him in his place.
  21. We gave up Wagner and ate 6.5mil...which is a large chunk of change. In all honestly I feel like we traded Segura for half of Anderson. The other half of Anderson and Diaz were traded for by paying the cash and giving Wagner. As stated multiple times previously, subtract Segura's $2.6 million and we ate under "$4 million". For that we got a rotation arm and a prospect with a pretty good upside. What's not to like? Wagner had good minor league stats but his 91 mph doesn't project to the pros IMO. Greg Maddux he ain't. Stearns has a solid "B" from me so far, he probably could have done better in the Lind trade but he is quickly transforming the Brew. combine that with a Top 5 pick coming up I'm excited for the future 2-4 years down the road. I have nothing against the trade. I like it a lot, but Segura's value was bad and this trade showed it. We didn't get the return we got because of Segura. It was because we are millions of dollars and gave up a prospect.
  22. Not that I really want to get into the PED argument, but Biogenesis included a long list of of guys who never tested positive for anything. So yes there are good reasons to go back on PEDs as there is clearly ways to beat the system. Actually there are probably many guys who get caught and decide to go back on PEDs. Not saying Braun will or has, but it isn't as simple as saying getting caught once just means you will never use PEDs again.
  23. We gave up Wagner and ate 6.5mil...which is a large chunk of change. In all honestly I feel like we traded Segura for half of Anderson. The other half of Anderson and Diaz were traded for by paying the cash and giving Wagner.
  24. Can't believe Cream City didn't make it. Thank gosh we can all get another boring jersey that says "1970 Milwaukee Brewers". It can go with the other 100 just like it. Outside of that not surprised.
  25. Scooter Gennett is very under appreciated. I saw someone recommend cutting him now that we have Hill. That is crazy talk. As long as he is mashing righties I want him on this team. He hits the bigger half of a platoon and finding him a platoon mate will never be that hard. Heck I would extend the guy if he has a couple solid seasons in a row. He would be fairly cheap being a platoon guy and if we have a versatile utility guy to play the other half of his platoon we will get good production from 2nd base. We would have a hard time finding the combined production from just one player if we let him go. 2nd base is the new SS...an empty wasteland. Outside of Moncada there are no big time 2nd base prospects. Guys like Howie Kendrick are making $10mil.
