  1. Here in Wisconsin on my summer visit, this may be the only game I end up attending. Sat in 117 with my Dad and the game was a frustrating, nervous thing of beauty. It was great that Guerra was able to keep the team in it even though he didn't have it tonight. Hopefully he starts to get his command back next time around, for now I'm not worrying about him. Jerry Layne was annoyingly slow with his strike calls tonight, especially subtle on the backwards Ks. Wow do I enjoy watching Arcia play SS.
  2. I'm happy he only got a single after the way that AB started. The strike zone has seemed to favor the home team yesterday and today both.
  3. I hope Shaw makes them pay here. If it were the other way around, I know we'd pay for failing to turn 2 on the cards.
  4. First an Ed Sedar stop sign, and then a hit with runners on first and third with 1 out. Everything's going right tonight so far.
  5. I don't want to bag on Counsell but he made a silly mistake tonight.
  6. That last one against Nelson in the Fowler AB was egregious. Obvious strike, turned 1-1 count and the rbi single ensues. Nelson pulled, Hader used for 1/3 inning. Now we've got Hughes in there and it's game over.
  7. It has seemed pretty lopsided today in favor of the cards, both games.
  8. Well I've got to assume St. Louis will have to bean somebody next inning.
  9. Good chance that's the end of the line for Jhonny. http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/392/026/21b.jpg
  10. You could smell this one coming a mile away. One way or another, this is a big move for this season.
  11. Great movie. Sgt. Oddball "I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know...." always cracks me up.
  12. Announcing an amendment to the baseball rule book?
  13. "Buy" from the minors. Fill the bullpen needs from within. The best way to win this year also happens to be the cheapest, smartest and most convenient. I'd be fine with the right "salary acquisition" type of trade, but I see no reason to trade prospect of any anticipated future value. I want: Hader in the bullpen first, potentially Williams or Ortiz later. If outfield becomes a more pressing need, I think Brinson's time has come. Once September callups happen I want Cooper's bat at the ready on the big league bench.
  14. It's gotta stink to be PhillieFan. They'll always have '08 though.
  15. Speaking of concessions, how closely does gate security uphold the "food in see through package" rule for carry ins? Would a sandwich in a paper wrapper be scrutinized? I only have experience bringing many sacks of in shell peanuts.
  16. Not to deviate too far off topic here, but since the notion was mentioned upthread.... Here's the story of the man the Brewers once threw in a bucket of balls to sweeten the deal of his acquisition. The True Story of Tim Fortugno It's a lengthy piece but quite interesting.
  17. I already have Nelson and Peralta ahead of Parra. Heck, I'll go ahead and bump Fiers and Woodard ahead of Parra on my list of homegrown SPs of the past 20 years too, partially based off of how frustrated Parra often made me. I'd like to say D'Amico too, but he misses the 20 year cutoff, having debuted in '96.
  18. If anyone happens to know of a good organizational site for minor league affiliate injury tracking, I'd find that useful. The best I've been able to find is just the MiLB rosters.
  19. To me this makes a lot of sense. The MLB bullpen needs improvement, and Hader is a guy who could be a big help. There's nothing saying he couldn't move into the rotation if they need him there and he's had some MLB success.
  20. Wow I didn't realize Oklahoma City's SP Justin Masterson hasn't been in the majors since 2015.
  21. [sarcasm]After the last 2 games, what today? Walk the bases loaded in the 9th, then wild pitch em empty?[/sarcasm]
  22. Nope, that's not what I was trying to say. I'd say Karl is pretty darned average. Yet, on the list of all time Brewers starters, I'd have to imagine he slots in somewhere in the 15-20 range, and that is somewhat telling.
  23. On that note, how far down the list would Scott Karl be? That speaks to the dearth of above average starting pitching in franchise history.
  24. That was something of a trade... From the Glendon Rusch transaction record: January 21, 2002: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the New York Mets with Lenny Harris to the Milwaukee Brewers. The New York Mets sent Benny Agbayani, Todd Zeile and cash to the Colorado Rockies. The Colorado Rockies sent Ross Gload and Craig House to the New York Mets. The Colorado Rockies sent Alex Ochoa to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Milwaukee Brewers sent Jeromy Burnitz, Lou Collier, Jeff D'Amico, Mark Sweeney and cash to the New York Mets. Lou Collier is one of those players that, for the life of me, I just cannot remember anything about.
