  1. I was thinking that as well, this game in particular. Seems like they should have caught on to the fact that he was grooving a straight fastball first pitch to get ahead in the count.
  2. His secondary pitches have been looking pretty good today. Unfortunately, he isn't commanding his fastball at all so far.
  3. This is my first time seeing Richards. I wonder if he dyes his hair gray, the guy just turned 28.
  4. Yeah I figured if he could throw less than 10 in the 7th and get through it, maybe he has a chance. It's getting interesting.
  5. Ah. I missed the ejection, but Anderson does have a gripe on that ball 3 call to Marte, that was a pathetic call.
  6. I’m just excited to finally get to watch the game on tv, in Wisconsin with my parents. Hopefully the Brewers can entertain me and win my first game of the season.
  7. That is hilarious. Apparently this guy had just a bit of a temper issue. From Lenny Randle's wikipedia page: During spring training in 1977,[2] first round draft choice Bump Wills earned the starting second base job over Randle. On March 28, the Rangers were in Orlando for an exhibition game with the Minnesota Twins. During batting practice an hour before the first pitch, Randle approached Rangers manager Frank Lucchesi. Words were exchanged and Randle punched Lucchesi in the face three times before the altercation was stopped by bystanders.[3] Lucchesi was hospitalized for a week, needing plastic surgery to repair his fractured cheekbone which Randle had broken in three places. He also received bruises to his kidney and back. The Rangers suspended Randle for 30 days without pay and fined him $10,000.[4] On April 26, before the suspension was complete, Texas traded him to the New York Mets for cash and a player to be named later; Texas later received Rick Auerbach.[5] Randle was charged with assault, and pleaded no contest to battery charges in a Florida court, receiving a $1,050 fine. The Texas Rangers fired Lucchesi on June 21.[6] Lucchesi blamed Randle for the firing, and sued him for $200,000.[7]
  8. Yeah the results aren't stellar at this point but keep in mind, he pitched a very little bit in 2019, no live action in 2020, so he's still kind of getting his feet back under him. Certainly wasn't on his A game Friday night, but otherwise not too bad. I'm not going so far as to predict he'll put it together, go on a nice run and earn a callup later this summer. But I definitely could see it happening.
  9. Amazingly, Feyereisen is actually ahead of Adames in post-trade WAR at .5 already for the Rays.
  10. And every team in the league would take an extra late-round draft pick if it were given to them. Even though they know the player picked probably won't make the majors, they would select someone they liked with the hopes they could turn into something. Is that why teams used to punt away late round draft picks on someone's nephew or some guy who plays another sport and will never sign? Wasn't that basically how the Dodgers got Piazza?
  11. Hmmm... Ironically, I was planning on eating spicy Thai food for lunch tomorrow (breaking my fast). But that will only be 16 hours, so I'm good, right? For me I guess the thing is certain foods my guts don't quite know how to handle when breaking a fast. Perhaps I should try making breakfast food for dinner on fasting days.
  12. I would suggest not breaking a 24 hour fast with spicy Thai food. It's not as good of an idea as it may seem.
  13. I'm hoping QTC might be a viable option at some point this season.
  14. I used to. A little pinch of salt takes care of it. On a fast day, my stomach grumbles within 10 minutes of 10:30 am like clockwork. That’s my reminder to have a pinch of salt before getting a headache.
  15. Regarding the reliever WAR comments upthread I have to agree. Ac closer’s WAR just mentally seems inaccurate. Say you have an elite closer who amasses 3 WAR for the season. I don’t buy for a second that the team only gets a 3 win difference between him and a replacement level guy as their closer.
  16. Funny stuff from CC. My phone really hated that website. Used almost 50% of my battery in the time it took to read the story. Audio/video didn’t play but that’s my slow service.
  17. Its all those BBQ cookouts while watching the ice breakup! I've had a couple fasts last 18-20 hours (16-17 normally), but I've not tried 24 yet. I'm doing this more as a lifestyle change (i.e. not eating breakfast nor snacking late). Any particular reason 24 hours helps so much more (other than skipping another meal)? My first 10 lbs or so came off slowly and surely. I'd like to lose another 10 to drop below 200, then maintain. I'm noticing now, I'm much hungrier when it comes to lunch time and a few more mood swings than before (i.e. snickers your-not-you-when-you're-hungry). I'm not sure if that is because of increased activity in the summer or just getting closer to a good "natural" weight for me. Side note: I've always been heavy for my size, but not "big". Most people are stunned to hear that I'm over 200 lbs as I generally "look" fit. So while I'm "supposed" to be 175 lbs, I don't think that is very realistic for my body type. I was 180lbs in college and a bean-pole. It just annoys me that BMI is always a simple height/weight ratio (yeah, its "easy"), but it never matched me very well, IMO. It's just one of the techniques I had read about and seemed like a good fit for me. The idea of the benefit of going 24 is that in the later hours of the fast, the body has gotten into the fat burning mode, so if I can go 24 instead of 20 there's 4 more hours where my body is burning fat due to my fast. In theory, that is. I'm no expert. Usually it's easy for me, but then sometimes there's days where I'm just not going to make it to 24. Like yesterday was a fasting day but I only went 21 because chicken tenders were calling my name after work.
  18. I remember attending a stretch of years’ final home games through that era. The stadium would be so empty a group of maybe 5 people would sit in the top corner of the upper deck and danced around in their underwear in the 4th quarter. Nobody within a mile of them. The dozens of us still in the stadium got a chuckle out of it.
  19. I've kept doing a 24 hour fast twice per week. It really helped lose the easy weight, now it is basically maintenance. I haven't been losing or gaining weight but I attribute that to the fact that work and a couple of minor injuries have kept me from having a regular exercise routine for extended periods. If not for IF, my guess is I'd probably have gained 5 lbs over the past month or so.
