  1. I was at the Fieldhouse for the '92 game when Yoder's Badgers absolutely destroyed the fab 5. It was a glorious day.
  2. In general I pull for the big ten in tournament time and bowl games. The exceptions are Michigan and Ohio State, I just don’t root for those two in any circumstance. Quite the run for UCLA.
  3. So I see there are at least two people who think the Pirates will win at least one game this season.
  4. I make really good steak at home so therefore it's very rare for me to have one at a restaurant. However, it definitely is a treat to have a steak at a place that gets good beef and house ages it.
  5. From what I’ve seen, yes, parking will be cashless. Basically everything on the Brewers property will require payment via credit/debit card or phone pay options. For those that don’t have any non-cash options there will be machines to put cash in and they’ll spit out a pre-paid card. I think there will only be three of these machines in the stadium, so good luck finding them. I had considered making a joke about how they'll need to have the reverse ATM machines you've described, and then considered the fact that it's probably likely. What a weird time to be alive.
  6. I really like that idea, Eye Black. I can envision that scenario making things pretty tough on opponents.
  7. I don't know about that one, Snapper. I think it invites a bunch of different problems for different people. Issues like bugs in the app, phone/carrier issues. Not to mention, there are a lot of people who I'm sure are not interested in having to spend the time on learning a system and installing an app and figuring all that out just for the privilege of attending an event. Not everyone is a cell phone addict, especially older generations. Heck, I'm in my mid 40s and I've never once brought my phone in the stadium with me. Why would I want to? I go there to watch baseball. Personally I hate how for more and more things, it's expected that a smart phone is a required part of the experience. It's insane. More and more people are basically helpless without their phone.
  8. A couple concerns I have are: As TPlush pointed out, the eticket isn't viable for everyone. Take my Dad for example. He doesn't have a smartphone and I can pretty much guarantee you he never will. So go to the window for a printed ticket, right? I don't see it happening, especially if that's a big line which it probably will be. Factor in the drive, the traffic on 94, etc and I just don't see him wanting to do all that pain in the rear end versus just watch on tv. My other concern is about the resellers at the game. That's usually my go-to because it's usually just 2 or 3 of us, and usually a good way to get good seats at a good price. Are etickets transferable in that way? Because if not then I don't like it at all.
  9. If this crackdown really comes to fruition and nixes all foreign substances, it is going to be absolutely fascinating to watch how different guys are impacted. That $288mil the yankees are paying Cole over the next 8 years could turn into a really fun joke, for example.
  10. I doubt Taylor's old minors stats have any bearing whatsoever on the Brewers' 2021 roster construction. I think it would come down to who has minors options available, as others have stated. Taylor has looked the part when in Milwaukee. Hopefully when he gets his next opportunity he makes the most of it.
  11. I wonder how many of the guys with cats were doing so "ironically." Also, do people still try to meet people in grocery stores?
  12. If that's true, it's probably likely the people who told him to bring the bag are dangerous to say no to.
  13. I thought about putting this in the what’s bugging you thread. Anyone who has had a burger like some of the ridiculous ones I’ve been seeing on tv shows and restaurant pictures online care to explain something to me? I’m talking about burgers that are too tall. Too big to possibly take a normal bite out of unless you’re a circus performer with a disjointed jaw or something. How do you eat them? All I can figure is a) eat the top bun with half of the stuff and the bottom bun with half the stuff separately b) use a fork c) hold on with both hands tilt head sideways and take little sideways bites, never set the burger down, and end up wearing half of it. I don’t get the appeal of a sandwich so unwieldy.
  14. The game didn't... the power blue did. So a whole season of losses with me watching is finally paid back with a big win! I hesitated watching, but this was the first game they won with me watching. Same here. Although I was working when it was live so watched the dvr, if that counts. Perhaps I’ve finally unlocked the secret. I almost feel obligated to do it again on Sunday.
  15. Saw JJ's tweet today: I’m not signed yet because every team thinks I’m a problem. When it’s the opposite. I come to play baseball. I come to become a family member of each and every player in that locker room. Ask every team I’ve been on. I’m close with every player. I guess I just would like to know what is at the root of it. JJ is so likeable from what we do see and hear from him when he's a Brewer.
  16. I believe he is referring to Rottino.
  17. If there's ever a situation where the Brewers broadcast is all that's available to everyone, like when they did the youtube/facebook types of games, and we play the cards, I hope he is VERY over the top for that. The rest of the time, I don't care. Even if he becomes a little obnoxious to me, I can skip it. If it attracts more viewers I'm all for it. I think it'll be fun.
  18. I definitely agree Tombstone isn't what it used to be. Granted I was a kid in the 80s with kid taste buds, but that tavern pizza was a different and better product. With that said, there's a bit of technique to getting one to turn out mediocre+ instead of poor. The crust curls up into weird contortions when baked, and gets a strange mouthfeel as well. Keep an eye on it and when it starts curling, switch to low broil with the oven door ajar.
  19. Wow. I hadn't thought about that since I was a little boy. You mentioned western and it sparked my memory. One quick google search and there it is, my first wallet.
  20. it's my understanding that another former brewer will be replacing jerry augustine for that regional sports network. he was a nashville sounds teammate of dillard's, and likely were on the same brewers roster from time to time. My guesses for the riddle are Ax, Lo, or Narvdogg.
  21. I would have to think that a July or whenever Braun addition would be driven by one of two things, either massive injury or severe under-performance. By under-performance I meant by those in OF/PH roles. I suppose a really long shot would be team under-performance and they bring him back for an '86 Gorman style last hurrah.
  22. That was nice they seemed to really mentally settle in for that little run.
  23. Could this be the day my losing streak is broken I wonder.
  24. Back in the late 70's Rocky's was a true deep dish pizza but certainly the definition of deep dish has changed and I don't really even consider Rocky's to be a deep dish pizza at all anymore. I would never try to compare it to a Chicago style deep dish because that is an entirely different animal. I really like the Chicago-style deep dish pizza after I get about half the sauce scrapped off. But I have never found a decent Chicago-style deep dish pizza in the western half of Dane County. Recommendations are welcome. I'm to the point where I have started looking at youtube videos for recipes because I am pretty near trying to make my own from scratch! It does you no good now because they've been gone for a long time, but Gino's on State St. in Madison used to be phenomenal.
  25. That approach makes a lot of sense to me too. If we had sports betting available here I would probably make it a yearly habit to take out a $10 futures bet on the cubs and cards winning the WS. $10 seems like about the perfect amount for a curse.
