  1. Agree Lazard should have caught it but also agree he would have caught it had Rodgers put a little touch on it.
  2. Nice call by Zad re: Thirsty Pagan. If you're in Sup town, that place has really good pizza and pretty decent beer too. It's somewhat hippie, though, in case that kind of vibe is off-putting to you. I learned about Ooni from this thread this thread today and have added that to my list of life goals. As far as reheating goes, I agree oven or toaster oven does a better job, however I generally don't care and will use the microwave. Leftover pizza for me is all about a fast easy breakfast. I prefer it not to be cold out of the fridge though, the cheese just isn't right. If I know I'm going to eat it the next day I don't even bother to refrigerate it and it's pretty decent for me just luke warm.
  3. I could certainly see this. I recall going to the 2011 Rose Bowl and doing things the couple days prior the weather was ok in my book, I wore a lightweight jacket. The locals out there thought it was cold and miserable.
  4. I found a contact for programming for ARCS and reached out to them, got a response within a half an hour. They get FOX from the same company I do, so they are equally out of luck, although they alluded to trying one last source they could not guarantee. One wouldn't think it would be difficult to view ABC and FOX if one has cable, yet here we are. This is madness.
  5. I certainly may be misunderstanding what I'm reading but the way I interpreted it is that it's a guaranteed contract, but pending he passes a physical, and his ability to pass the physical is what's not guaranteed. Again, just the way I read it.
  6. blame the rays for burning his first option his rookie year. had they recalled him on 1 september 2017 when rosters were eligible to expand, he wouldn't have burned his first option. people do realize that by signing robertson, it's now extremely unlikely that the club re-signs eric sogard, right? That's an excellent point. I give Robertson a LOT of credit for not being named Sogard.
  7. Before I had cable and was watching regularly, they had a pretty regular weekly schedule and a website to see the upcoming schedule. Things that would change it would be things like NFL games, specials, awards shows and that sort of thing. Pretty weird channel to be sure and here it is my apparent last bastion of hope for watching the Packers.
  8. From some cursory reading, Robertson's 2018 was shortened by a thumb ligament injury/surgery, 2019 he dealt with a nagging knee injury he played through and eventually went under the knife. So he's a former first rounder who had some good flashes. His minors numbers don't pop out at you but it appears he was progressed pretty aggressively since being drafted. I'm not necessarily trying to lead you down the primrose path, but if he's able to stay healthy I could see why Stearns sees something in him. If we're cash strapped, which we are, there's probably worse players to try to catch upside with.
  9. Anchorage would be the closest transmitting towers and that's nearly 400 miles to the east with mountains in between. Up until 1/1 we had a broadcast channel ARCS (Alaska Rural Communication Service) that would come in bad to good depending on the day. It basically aggregates from NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and PBS and shows whatever programming they feel is most popular/wanted. The game would likely have a good chance of being on there typically, but starting this year they are handled by a different carrier so there is no schedule available. I've hooked the antenna up to the tv because if my cable doesn't settle their dispute it's probably my only hope.
  10. My local cable company is in a urinating competition regarding the new contract with the company that sells them fox and abc, so those channels have been blacked out since 1/1. Streaming it off Hulu or whatever people use is not really an option for me as it would blast through the little monthly bandwidth I have. If they don't settle the dispute by the time the Packers play I am going to be very disappointed.
  11. What a start. Doesn’t bother me one bit.
  12. I can't for the life of me remember the details but there was a time where suddenly the Brewers had no MLB shortstops available. I remember Braun really trying to get a shot at it to finish out the game. They made a move the next day to cover until someone came off the DL and I recall wondering if it was possible they were going to bring CC out of the office to play a few games.
  13. Quoting myself here to give this update context. Late last night walking the dog before bed I saw quite a few pedestrians walking with little plastic bags. (they always give little bags of treats, candies, etc at Slaaviq gatherings) We already have a very high rate here right now. If people are Slaaviqing this year as much as I fear, mark my words. Bethel, AK is going to be one of if not the darkest spot on the nation's covid map in a couple of weeks. Good grief. ETA: I just looked, we already are. Sigh.
  14. If I understood the article I read correctly, I actually agree with their firing him. He was the Angels' VISITING clubhouse manager, and he gave the stuff to their opponents. If he supposedly makes the best ball grip dope there is and I employ him, he'd better be only giving the stuff to my players, not my opponents so they are better against my team.
  15. I'll raise you this Lasorda moment. RIP
  16. Likely I would have gotten it, and I'd still be there waiting until 14 days were up and I was symptom free before I could travel back here. I don't think I'd have been on a plane with it because when I do visit for the holidays I generally leave to come back on NYE. I'd have known about it and cancelled flights by then. Of course that's all assuming it would have affected me the same as them and not hit me like a ton of bricks instead. I'm so glad I had enough sense not to go. I'm sure in retrospect my family wishes they'd have not gotten together. I'm very concerned about the folks in my area right now. Many of them are Russian Orthodox, which I don't really have much of an understanding of, but it's the beginning of the week of Slaaviq holiday for them. Typically that means all week long several different families host a feast each night and people go from house to house, lots of singing and it goes on all night. If they don't just completely scrap it this year it's going to be an absolute nightmare.
  17. I'm bugged that the sports reference sites are not working today.
  18. Certainly. They did spread out at mealtime, not congregated all around the table like normal. I too suspect that may have been the culprit. Or, heck, maybe even from serving utensils for all I know. Or from doing the dishes which no doubt Mom and Dad did since I wasn't there. Or, maybe breathed right through one mask and into another, we'll never know. I do know that there's really not a safe way to get together. I wasn't willing to take the chance. And the hell of it is, the reason I wasn't willing to go is because I was afraid I might pick it up on a plane or in an airport and get my parents sick with it.
  19. Here's a little anecdote re: masks. I decided not to go to WI for Christmas this year. My parents still had my sister's family over. Everyone wore masks, distanced etc. On the 26th my nephew was feeling a little sick, so of course he had been contagious on the 25th. Predictably, in a couple days both of my parents tested positive too. Thankfully they didn't/don't have severe cases. They are pretty healthy people and also they have been very diligent about resting, fluids, vitamins and all that. I'm not saying masks and distance don't help, but I don't think they help as much as one might want to believe.
  20. I had been wondering how his thumb injury was after the WC game. He was clearly in pain after that last clanker.
  21. I think now that it's been fixed, it absolutely belongs in the trophy case. Don't change a thing. Leave it there for 100 years.
  22. He just calls that 'Saturday.' Maybe sometime he can get Illinois to the Mahoneyes Used Cooking Oil Bowl...
  23. I started recording just in case.
  24. You mentioned AZ and I had to take a look. I had no idea Culver's had gotten so widespread nationwide. Wow. https://www.culvers.com/locator/view-all-locations You had a teenager metabolism back then. Wouldn't that be nice these days...
