  1. Oh man ... Domingo for Happ would be such a blah trade. Suter gets hurt, so we replace him with a Suter clone? Also would be a ridiculous overpay.
  2. I swear to Christ if we traded Domingo for half a year of Happ I’ll be livid.
  3. You have that backwards. Archer has club options in '20 in '21. Gray is a FA after the '19 season. Ortiz, Lutz, and Supak is a steep price for <1.5 years of Sonny Gray. I don't know that I'd trade Ortiz straight up for Gray. This 100% and I'm lower on Ortiz than most. Lutz either he's a legit prospect that is gonna be a top 100 guy. That's something you don't give away for a decent starter that's 5'9 and having a pretty bad year. That deal would be an unmitigated disaster. We would be the laughing stock of the NL central if we made that deal. Last year fine this year yikes.
  4. Even with the k rate concerns, that is extremely undervaluing Ray as a player, and I'm glad DS doesn't share your opinion. His actual ceiling is closer to starling marte. I absolutely am not talking about trading him for a marginal upgrade. He’d be going for a difference maker because Ray still has tantalizing tools. I’m just scared we’ll wait too long, when we have an already crowded outfield, and his value will drop again. If he hits .260 or so, cuts down the K%, and improves approach he could be a big time contributor in the ML. However, I don't think that is a very likely outcome to happen. When someone has tools like Ray does they can always make you look foolish. Which I'd be more than happy to have happen. The lack of contact and park factor frightens me with a player of his profile.
  5. A good change of scenery candidate is Julio Teheran. He's been roughed up a bit recently, and if the Braves decide they want to continue building for the future he could be had for a discount IMO. They're loaded with multiple great arms.
  6. If I'm the Brewers he is THE trade chip I'm selling high on. If I learned anything following the minors the past 4 years (22 now) it's to not scout the stat line. Numerous scouts have rated his hit tool as low as 30-35 maybe that progresses to a 40-45 FV if he continues shortening up his swing, but I don't see him making enough consistent contact to tap into his above average power. His K rate is another reason for concern. Right now I think his ceiling is about a Keon Broxton 4th OF role with a little worse defense. A guy that can also come in a game late and swipe bags with ease. That can change, but that has value! I just think his value is gonna be highest now as he's approaching a 25-40 season in AA.
  7. Not a frigging chance. Archer could pull a headlining prospect like that 3 years ago, but not anymore. I also think he would immediately be the most talented pitcher on the roster, but I need to see more consistency, and not just more of the same mediocre results if I’m giving up someone of Hiura’s pedigree.
  8. I’d be very interested if he came at a deep discount. Like South African reliever type of discount. A reunion with Derek Johnson could do him some good.
  9. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." I'm gonna leave this topic at that. Now back to baseball. We got a fun team. Lets make some noise.
  10. And it begins. The witch hunt is now underway. Good. Call it a witch hunt if you wish, but these are public people. If you've said homophobic or racist statements in the past nothing wrong with having to answer for it. I think it’s quite ignorant to believe comments of the past reflect present character. People are constantly evolving, changing, and maturing. Call me crazy, but things I said 7 years ago don’t reflect my current mindset. 7 years ago I thought nickelback was a decent band...
  11. No suspension is a frigging win! After the week the brew crew just had I’ll take it!
  12. And it begins. The witch hunt is now underway. Im willing to bet a ton of young players have made poor choices of words in their youth on social media. Lol watch a mass suspension come out. We’ve had the “steroid era” now it’ll be the “mean words” era. Good grief.
  13. After sleeping on it I think this will all blow over in a week or two when the internet finds something else to be outraged over. That’s just the culture of social media as it stands today. I just saw someone dig up Whit Merrifield’s old tweets and it had some unsavory words. I’m betting that 50+% of young players have the same issue and if you dig far enough you’ll find something by today’s standards is “problematic”. I for one don’t think tweets 7 years ago represent his true character, but hey that’s a flaming hot take apparently. He used song quotes and movie quotes in a few of them (Not all I understand). That’s just something young and stupid high schoolers do. God knows I said awful crap, but people coming at his throat just need to stop. A lot of people living in glass houses are throwing stones. I saw people calling for his release, for something he did 7 years ago and hasn’t done again as a professional athlete. This is getting a bit ridiculous
  14. If I’m the Brewers id fine him in a hefty way for keeping the tweets up. A suspension would be absolutely foolish for something he did at 17. It’s no excuse but c’mon this has absolutely nothing to do with his pro baseball career.
  15. So if Mark Attanasio still ran the show? Thank you Plush. People are so ungrateful nowadays. We have a top 5 GM in Milwaukee (!!!) and people are still upset with his roster building philosophy. I’m gonna chalk it up to him being Kato.
  16. That is pretty dramatic man. The Brewers offered a package that in their eyes was fair value for a 2 month rental of Machado. They didn’t get him... you move on to different ways to improve your ballclub. One of David Stearns’ original goals was to create a youthful team that year in and year out is in contention for the playoffs. Fair to say he knows what he’s doing. No one is saying that these guys in the farm are gonna lead us to the WS. But to gut your system, of future contributors, for a guy that will leave us high and dry in the winter is just asinine. We’re a market that can’t recover lost depth all that easily. Be happy Stearns made an offer (2nd best btw) It means he’s going for it like you want. But he’s gonna do it on his terms for the value he deems fair. And not just gonna blow his load to make a move just for the sake of it.
  17. I think the Brewers made the right call. DS put a value on Machado and stuck to it. I see a lot of bashing of “prospect huggers” on Twitter, but you don’t make a move just to make a move. The value has to be there for both teams. It’s two frigging months of Machado some are crying about. We’re set up with at least a 3 year window of contention barring injury. No need to rush the process. We can allocate resources elsewhere. There are moves to be made though to clean up the future of the 40 man. I’m also glad Mark Attanasio didn’t have his hands all over this one.
  18. I personally think prospect rankings from 50-100 are pretty much interchangeable when it comes to OFV. I doubt ML organizations put much stock in arbitrary rankings like that. I think it comes down to what the scouts see.
  19. Type "two cubs final" in twitter and prepare to get cancer/AIDS/pretty much your choice of disease.
  20. My prediction is Schwarber sadly. Obviously want Jesus to win.
  21. Here's to Javy Baez swinging so hard he strains an oblique.
  22. Honestly I don't see a need to acquire a cost controlled 2B (I get versatility) like Merrifield when Hiura is knocking on the door in 2019. Provided Keston isn't shipped off for a significant arm like a deGrom/Syndergaard. If we're going after Whit I think there has to be a corresponding move to go along.
  23. 1000% agree. Absolutely infuriating. 4.53 FIP ridiculous he still has the closer's job. JJ has the demeanor, experience, and stuff to shut a game down. Let him have the job.
  24. When I previously referred to the O's having no leverage this is what I meant. Their only play is to wait til the deadline and HOPE a team blinks/caves to the pressure. The previous precedent with trades makes me think they won't. The Orioles have no way of demanding more. It's all take it or leave it, so the offers are what they're gonna be. O's gotta sift for the best one. I hope it's us just so I can get some Machado gear lol.
