  1. Hypothetically speaking... If the Brewers end the regular season with the same record as the Cardinals AND the Nationals (tied for division and first wild card), I realize we get two chances to win a game to advance to NLDS. Question: If we lost game 163 to the Cardinals, would we still get to host the Wild Card game vs the Nationals or since game 163 counts in the regular season standings, would we have to travel to Washington for the Wild Card game?
  2. Oh, okay. Thanks. Nevermind.
  3. My gosh Tony, you can always see the negative in a sea of positive! Just curious, but what "game times" are you annoyed by?
  4. I believe that, typically, both the NL and AL start times are 8PM EST time, since they are the only MLB games scheduled for that day.

Guess that's where the Cubs learnt their September disappearing act! lol
  6. I still think he could pinch hit during the World Series.
  7. Yes, they need to still win every series and they would be in great shape. If they either finish the sweep of the Marlins or win the series vs Padres instead of a split, they could probably afford to even drop 2 of the Cardinals series.
  8. Yeah but we have Brent Suter!
  9. Even if the Brewers somehow sneak into the 2nd Wild Card spot, without Yelich this team isn't going far. With that said, can't we still have a little fun and at least ruin the Cubs season once again!????? Go Brewers
  10. Realistically, it won't be for several more years, before we know who won this trade. So far, I'd have to say, I'm liking our end of the deal with Yelich. I feel he's put up the 2 best offensive seasons in Milwaukee Brewers history since the trade. However, we did give up several blue chip prospect,s and I think Yamamoto was more than just a throw in. Time will tell.
  11. Ehh ... Stokes has some talent, and I guess is still young enough at 23 to put things together. But he isn't a good enough defender to regularly play CF, and he just doesn't have the offensive upside and profile to ever really be a regular in the corner OF. Hate to lose talented players, but that's part of the business. Stokes won a Rawling Gold Glove Award as a Minor Leaguer in AA Last Year https://www.milb.com/biloxi/news/troy-stokes-jr-awarded-rawlings-gold-glove/c-297386960
  12. David Freitas has already pounded his nail into the Brewers Wall of Honor! (standing on Brent Suter's shoulders...) He's like a 30 year old version of Ted Williams when he was a journeyman minor league catcher!!!!
  13. The original post was well thought out and explained. Would love to lock up Hiura long term if he’d be game. In Grisham’s case, he could revert back to his old form and the Brewers would have a Jon Singleton situation on their hands. Since we control him for the next 6 years anyway, I doubt Brewers would even entertain the small financial risk, when it’s not warranted.
  14. Pump the brakes a bit on Trent Grisham... Would you have signed a player like Jake Marisnick to a long term deal when he came up with the Astros after one good minor league season? Grisham has a similar profile of a nice 4th outfielder. What’s the rush?
  15. Please find somebody with an ERA and FIP under 5 in their last 300 innings the next time you talk about trading away Davies or Anderson or Burnes (much less a combination of them plus prospects to boot). I was really high on Dylan Bundy two years ago but have come around to the idea that the guy just isn't very good. Late bloomer at 27? Definitely could happen. But I'm not trading away anything of significant value in order to find out. I'm sure you would have made a similar statement when Orioles traded Jake Arietta to the Cubs at about the same age during a 7.23 ERA season with a 5 FIP. Bundy has a much higher ceiling than any of the mediocre arms I proposed trading. Sometimes you need to take a chance on talent, rather than cling to guys that are not difference makers, IMO.
  16. Thusday, March 26th at Miller Park vs. Cubs is Opening Day. BOOOOO!1!
  17. Your plan only seems make the rotation worse...which I give it to ya, that's pretty hard to do. What exactly is your plan to improve the rotation? Because all you have said is keep Woodruff, let the trash walk, then trade anyone with a hint of value, put Peralta back in (downgrade), and mention (mostly) a bunch of garbage as possibilities. Your wildcards can't possibly be filling 2/5 of the spots (as you mention Woodruff in, probably a FA signing, and Peralta in your rotation). Seems, at best, similar to this year...likely worse 1. Sign MadBum as Free Agent 2. Trade a combination of Davies/Anderson/Burnes and prospects to Orioles for Dylan Bundy 2020 Rotation 1. Brandon Woodruff 2. Madison Bumgarner 3. Dylan Bundy 4. Freddy Peralta 5. Jake Faria Swingman: Brent Suter Rotation Depth: Whoever we don't trade of Davies/Anderson/Burnes Jimmy Nelson Adrian Houser Prospects on the way... Ethan Small Aaron Ashby Drew Rasmussen Trey Supak Zack Brown etc. Replace Moustakas and/or Grandal with cheaper options so we can afford to sign MadBum or Ryu, perhaps
  18. Woodruff should be the only lock, IMO. Brewers won't be making the playoffs anytime soon with this hodgepodge of mediocre talent in the starting rotation. Let FA's Chacin, Gio, Pomeranz and Lyles walk. (sign a better Free Agent if possible) Look to trade Anderson and Davies while they still have any semblance of value. Put Freddy back in rotation and let him figure it out. Wildcards: Jake Faria, Corbin Burnes, Jimmy Nelson, Adrian Houser, Brent Suter
  19. Seen here, we have two (Lyles/Gio) former 1st rounders and Houser (2nd) in the rotation. We also have Jeffress and Pomeranz as first rounders on our staff as well. Add in Devin Williams as a 2nd rounder out of the pen as well. Translation: It mean nothing. lol
  20. They obviously think Derek Johnson can fix him. Hard to blame them. Look what he has done with their entire rotation this year. Castillo Gray Desclafani Roark Most of these guys have exceeded their expectations and made improvements.
  21. I am more than happy Cole Hamels is starting this series. It will give me great pleasure each and every time the Brewers offense lays a beatdown on him until he accepts the bitter Brewers/Cubs rivalry as a reality.
  22. For Stearns model to work, it's essential that the Brewers draft and develop, cost controlled young starting pitchers for their rotation. Something this franchise has long struggled to do. His model: 1. Cheap home grown starting pitchers (Woodruff, Nelson, Peralta, Burnes etc) paired with bargin bin free agent pitchers on short contracts (Miley, Chacin, etc) 2. Build a powerful offense with franchise cornerstones (Yelich, Huira, etc) and pair them with Free Agents on short term deals (Moustakas, Grandal, etc) 3. Build a deep and dynamic bullpen All three of these clicked for the Brewers last year, with the Bullpen of Knebel, Hader and Jeffress carrying us. Combine the Knebel injury, the Jeffress suck and the Claudio bust, and this year's bullpen is nothing special. If you remove Hader from our bullpen, the Brewers might have one of the the worst pens in the league.
  23. I don't fault the Brewers for not bothering with the likes of Lyles or Miley and starting the season with Woodruff, Peralta and Burnes in the rotation. My guess is that they were hoping that 2 of the 3 would solidify themselves as rotation fixures moving forward and at the very least the third one would be an addition to the bullpen. Experiment results: Woodruff- All Star Burnes- Disaster Peralta- Inconsistent and unreliable in either role Now with Woodruff sidelined, they go into the deadline still sniffing 1st place somehow but basically nothing from this trio to count on. And in the fall back to earth that Chacin has taken this season and it's just not good. This gave Stearns little choice but to make the hole plugging/desperation type moves this week.
