  1. I get the feeling that our 2020 3B will be someone out of the blue and underwhelming, who's not even a Free Agent. Like Chad Pinder. Lol. Like Narvaez, Pinder will be going into magical prime season at 27 years of age. Also 3 years of arb left. He's also a swiss army knife that can play 2B,SS,3B, and OF.
  2. Wonder if the Rays would consider a Hader for Glasnow/Nate Lowe trade? Probably still too risky for Brewers to consider. And yes the Pirates Archer trade was somehow worse than the Cole trade. And if Cole stays a Pirate until he hits FA he probably gets half that contract.
  3. With a 4 pitch walk, Gerrit Cole will earn more than I do in a year!!!
  4. I think that vesting option will make the Brewers wisely stay away from acquiring Happ. Too risky for certain.
  5. High time we learn to draft and develop our own Aces.
  6. What’s crazy is that Cole had an absurd 2019 season but prior to that he was a very inconsistent pitcher, so much that I wouldn’t have even considered him a true Ace, especially during his Pirates years. And the trade return the Pirates received for Cole seems even more comically bad now. My Goodness.
  7. And Nomar Mazara sounds like an ethnic soup.
  8. I would have taken on Zack Cozart $12 for 2020 to land a prospect like Wil Wilson. Especially with Cozarts his versatility. Dang
  9. Market is drying up of Starting Pitchers in our price range that I wanted us to take a chance on. Julio Teheran is still at the top of my list.
  10. The Angels/Giants just swung a trade similar to this with the Giants taking on 1 year and all $12M left in Zack Cozart's final year and were given SS Prospect Will Wilson. It would be great if the Brewers could swing a Happ/Andujar type deal like this.
  11. I don't really get how this makes any sense at all for the Mets. Hader is perfectly deployed to hold 95% of leads in the toughest situations. After this trade, the Mets may only lead in 75 or 80 games in the next few seasons. I don't know how you figure, because with deGrom, Stroman and Matz at the front of their rotation currently, they'd still have a better rotation then the Brewers currently do, even WITHOUT Thor.
  12. Brewers send: LHP Josh Hader (4 years arby) Mets send: RHP Noah Syndergaard (2 years arby) 1B Dom Smith (4 years control, 3 in arby) 3B Jed Lowrie (1 year- $9M) This deal does make a lot of sense on the surface for both teams. However, if the Mets are netting Hader they'd prefer to keep Thor to help them be contenders. Conversely, if the Brewers are netting Thor, they prefer to keep Hader for the same reasons. Tough call for either team to pull the trigger on this proposal and likely why it will never happen.
  13. Lol the Yankees are getting Gerrit Cole if they trade Happ or not.
  14. Word is he wants a one year deal, so I doubt we nab him for 3 years. If that is true about the QO I could see the Brewers or Reds signing a one year deal with the agreement that they wont offer the QO. This is interesting, but I'm not sure if it's legel (allowed) to have a written agreement stating that a QO won't be offered. And I'd be damned if a player is accepting a word of mouth agreement.
  15. The Milwaukee Brewers are the place to go to build back your value on a one year deal. The word on the street is
  16. I also like Wil Myers as a fit for the Brewers roster construction/bounceback candidate with change of scenary. However, his contract would be a tough pill to shallow at $20M per through 2022.
  17. Yeah, but who doesn't like a shiny new toy? lol In all seriousness, I think you are probably right that Tsutsugo profiles to put up a similar stat line as Eric Thames provides. The difference is that we know exactly what we would be getting with Thames, while with Tsutsugo their is more risk, but possibly more reward as well. So if you're a gambler, Tsutsugo interests you and if you are someone who likes the safe bet, Thames would be for you. Also to consider, Tsutsugo I'm sure would be looking for a 2-3 year deal, whereas Thames will be only receiving one year offers.
  18. For how bad our farm system is, “buying” some young talent from the Yankees system for taking on only one year of Happ at $17M isn’t the worst idea, IMO.
  19. Kudos for being the first poster I've seen that actually thinks the new rule could be good for the game. I tend to agree as well. It seems like the Cardinals in particular have used their bullpen to the righty/lefty switches to almost every batter past the 6th inning for the last 30 years. It think this will award pitchers retaining MLB bullpen jobs that can get batters out from both sides of the plate, as well it should.
  20. Returning as a Brewer or not, I can't see Ryan Braun retiring after this season. He will only be 37 years old and still has a productive bat.
  21. I'm sure Huira COULD play firstbase if given the chance. However, I think with his small stature, he'd be a small target with very small reach/wingspan for an ideal firstbaseman. Therefore, I believe the Brewers see him as their 2B moving forward and are committed to him making defensive improvements at the keystone going into 2020 season. I don't think they will move him to get Urias/Arcia/Didi/etc into the starting lineup. If Brewers sign Didi, he will either play 3B or they will send Urias to AAA for the start of 2020 and have Arcia be a bench player. I think Free Agents Tsutsugo or Justin Smoak make some sense for the Brew Crew's 1B void. Both have on base skills and power. I prefer Tsutsugo for his potential position versitility however. And the fact that he's 5 years younger and still in his baseball prime.
  22. The Trade Valuations I don't think are really accounting for Haders true value, especially to any contending team. With that said, I disagree with this particular valuation of a trade. Beintendi is a slightly above average regular that has shown signs of regression during a time when he should be breaking out. Chavis is still an unproven commodity. He has shown some progression through 5 years in the minors. But he has posted an OPS south of .800 with only average power and speed. To me, he profiles as a replacement level major leaguer. His overall minor league numbers are a little worse than Travis Shaw's minor league numbers, as a frame of reference. Hader as a LHP is the best reliever in baseball by quite a margin. I'm not surprised that Red Sox fans would love this trade.
  23. Just don’t think it’s in the Brewers plans to move Huira to first base. Believe they are committed to him as a 2B.
  24. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-hot-stove-japanese-slugger-yoshitomo-tsutsugo-will-be-posted-for-mlb-teams-this-offseason/amp/ Left Handed power hitting Tsutsugo can play 1B-3B-OF Does this guy not fit the Brewers needs perfectly? Stearns was ahead of the rest of the league when he brought Eric Thames back to MLB from Asian as a free agent. Says he has “military style strike zone judgement”. Compares to Kyle Schwarber. Smack in middle of his bsseball prime at 28 years old. Could this guy be a surprise target for the Brew Crew? Thoughts?
  25. Again Stearns is not going to use Hader as trade bait to fill “holes”. I can almost guarantee that Hader will not be traded for a MLB 1b/3b this offseason. And a full Guarantee that it won’t be for Jeff McNeill.
