  1. I think this would be a worthy addition to the top of the thread... Enjoy. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/documents/0/2/4/289463024/August_8_vs._San_Diego.pdf
  2. Nicely done Moose. Great story! Well worth the short read... https://www.mlb.com/cut4/mike-moustakas-opens-marker-at-store-to-sign-for-brewers-fan/c-289089248
  3. Not sure where (city wise) you are at, but I recommend The Original Mattress Factory. Much cheaper rates then most others and outstanding quality. While they are NEOhio based I know they have stores in the Minneapolis area & they deliver as far east as Eau Claire, WI from Minny (at least they did as of late 2012 when I moved to that area). In the end it might not be a match for your needs but a little research/ checking out is never a bad thing. Good Luck
  4. And the Cards traded their AAA CF (Oscar Mercado) to Cleveland in a prospect for prospects deal just before the deadline as well...

  6. Make that 9-23 v Cubs, Pirates, Dodgers & Indians 54-26 (.675) vs everyone else
  7. And with Grandal getting a hit in the 7th, every Dodger batter with more than 1 at bat has a hit....
  8. It might a while for Hernan Perez to record 6 outs & finish this game..... Is there any curfew rule we need to be concerned about???
  9. Am I correct in saying that the biggest negative in any of these cities is Fresno having a super small/limited airport? Yeah, either that or the hitter-friendly environment in Vegas; not sure if they're doing anything with the new stadium there to try to mitigate that. I've heard the facilities aren't great in San Antonio, but that will almost certainly be the Rangers' issue to deal with. My guess is if Nashville becomes open (ie no agreement with Oakland), they will partner with the Nationals... With San Antonio going to Texas, its then down to Fresno or Vegas for the Crew & A's/ Nationals (1 of them will be in Nashville).. Frenso was with Oakland from 1973 - 1976. they alo worked with the Brewers in 1997 (per Wiki). It isn't very far from Oakland (under a 3 hr drive). It would make some sense to connect with Oakland again.. But, time will tell.
  10. If he reads the writing on the wall, you'd think he'd be more open to finishing his career for an AL team instead of riding the pine for the Crew. I don't know what team would want him though. Seattle has done some weird things in the past. Indians have a short-term need. Are the Brewers picking up 85% of the remaining contract?? If no, then Cleveland has no interest making a waiver claim on Braun...
  11. I doubt it. I think you might want to review the linked item from Fangraphs.. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/ranking-the-prospects-traded-at-the-deadline-2/ Not much love for the departed Brewers prospects...
  12. Perhaps I am miss-interpreting your statement (I put in bold), but I think your selling the Pirates short. IMHO the Pirates will be a tough nut to deal with for the next few years. I will not list them as favorites in the division, but they have a number of pieces under control for the next 3 years. As a baseball fan, I think Pitt made some gutsy moves at this deadline (acquiring Kela & Archer). Time will tell if they are rewarded with a post-season spot for their efforts.
  13. The 2019 AL Central Champion Cleveland Indians say thanks. Would you like to assist us in raising the 2019 Division banner when you come to visit for the 2019 All Star game?? The division might be clinched by then.. I hope the Tribe wins the ALCS. Our only chance to have 4 WS games at home is if the Tribe pulls it off. That depends. If both teams won their division I believe it goes to better record. If teams are tied then it goes to head-to-head. I don't think a wild card team can have home-field at any point over a division winner. Division winners get top 3 seeds in each league. For example: Yankees (with a better record, winning the WC play-in) would not get home field over Cleveland (a division winner)
  14. The 2019 AL Central Champion Cleveland Indians say thanks. Would you like to assist us in raising the 2019 Division banner when you come to visit for the 2019 All Star game?? The division might be clinched by then..
  15. If that third piece isn't big, i think this is a good trade for the Pirates. Glasnow looks like a bust and Meadows hasn't lived up to his earlier prospect status. Bob Nightengale: ‏ The player to be named in the Chris Archer trade, according to a #Rays official, is hardly a throw-in or fringe prospect. It's a player of significant value. Wonder if the PTBNL is linked at all to how the Pirate finish the season (playoffs or not)?? It would be similar to the CC acquisition from Cleveland. Since Crew made the playoffs, the PTBNL was Brantley. If the Crew hadn't it would have been someone else (that didn't have as much of a career & is out of the game already)....
  16. Guessing my earlier post got lost with the site freeze. Atlanta also got Darren O'Day (currently hurt, out rest of year) as part of the deal. Key point is O'Day is also under contract for 2019..
  17. Late trade deadline add for the Indians to get Oscar Mercado out of St. Louis for Conner Capel & Jhon Torres. Pure prospect for prospects deal.. I liked Capel and think there is a workman like quality to him. Which ever team has him will like him as an all-around player. Opponents will be frustrated by him...
  18. Combined with the Archer acquisition, Pitts is making a play for this year and beyond.. Archer - 3 more years of control Kela - 3 more years of control
  19. I'd be all over Sonny Gray for a lottery ticket or two. Or expand it to Gray and a prospect or someone like Austin Romine for Santana. With Gary Sanchez back on the DL, why would the Yankees trade their starting catcher for Domingo Santana???
  20. You mean 1.23 WHIP. Clevinger's era is 3.43 There are pluses & minuses on each side of this possibility.. From a Cleveland perspective: 1) They clear money in moving Allen & Kipnis (both now & for future years). 2) Jose Ramirez moves to his natural 2B position & gets left alone. 3) Shaw fills in the hole created at 3B & while his number are worse vs lefties, Cleveland has some others that could platoon well with him if needed. 4) Allen is a free agent after the season (as is Andrew Miller). Getting a controllable player in Knebel to pair with the recent additions of Brad Hand & Adam Cimber solidifies this season's bullpen & locks in a bullpen for the next few seasons as well.
  21. Please take a moment to let this one sink in before liking or disliking... Doubt it would happen but this is the season for brainstorming trades.... Another poster on a Tribe board started the idea & I added to both sides on it... Cody Allen, Mike Clevinger, Yandy Diaz & Jason Kipnis (plus a total of $7MM) for Corey Knebel & Travis Shaw.. Comments??
  22. I can't see that being done unless Attanasio wanted it, and stuck his nose in - $25M per season is a lot to take on and that doesn't seem to me (being the Stearns expert that I am) like a move that Stearns would make by choice. Oh I get exactly what you are saying. That is a huge contract to absorb. Still, Jordan seems to be getting it back on track this season after a couple horrid years to begin this contract in Detroit... So far this season: whip = 1.16, only 12 walks allowed & 65 K thru 68 IP I think he is more of a fallback option if something else can't be completed before the deadline (& I'm guessing DS won't match or surpass someone else's offer on a few other available players out there).
  23. Jordan Zimmermann Take a look at the stats before his game vs Cleveland on sunday (7/29). https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zimmejo02.shtml Not too bad.. Deal is done as a waiver item so it gets completed on Monday 8/6. Considering the amount of the remaining contract, it might only cost a couple lottery tickets or a likely R5 casualty & lottery ticket...
  24. I agree about the concern of 100+ pitches. That said, once we get to Sept rosters expand. It would be a lot easier to use Nelson as a piggy-back with another inning-limited pitcher (ie Peralta or Burnes) and go 50 or 60 pitches multiple times. After seeing how he does (& others do) they can then evaluate the best route to when deciding on the post-season roster round by round...
