  1. I do not know if MKE is fielding a 2nd team on its own or sharing a team with someone else. A few days ago, Mass Haas mentioned that we're sharing a DSL team with Toronto this year, as newly signed Fraudy Maldonado was assigned there. https://www.milb.com/player/fraudy-maldonado-691699 Also, I'm hoping that those saying that we'll only have 1 AZL team turn out to be wrong, but I guess we'll just have to see. We cut deep enough last year that we've actually been adding a number of players recently, which is a heckuva lot more enjoyable than letting guys go. I completely missed the post from Mass Haas so thanks for pointing it out. ----------------------------- As for why only 1 Summer Complex league team, I believe that is tied to the now "Cap" on players an organization can have state-side as part of its minor league system. This cap is a new aspect from the minor league reorg & applies only to the minor league teams in the USA/ Canada. Baseball academies in the DR and other places are not part of the calculation. The last cap number I heard was in the neighborhood of 180 players and the roster sizes were increased to 30 per level (summer complex up to AAA). This allows for 150 players on different teams/ at different levels & have a bit of floating taxi group to fill at spots for season ending injuries etc. Additionally, an injury does not mean a player gets "cut" so a full team can be fielded at another level. One more thing you have to remember: by limiting the number of players for each organization, it creates the player pool for those showcase/ dreamer teams that have been created in different places.
  2. With the number of pitchers getting hurt & put on the IL around the league, Wade must be confident he can find another job or easier path to the majors then staying with MKE..
  3. I've gone back & forth with another board member about the summer league teams I heard that all 30 clubs are limited to a single complex level team (in Arizona or Florida). He doesn't believe that rule is there now. I also know (& posted on this board) that Cleveland is NOT sharing a DSL team with MKE anymore as they are fielding 2 teams in the DSL. I do not know if MKE is fielding a 2nd team on its own or sharing a team with someone else.

I will try to post that info here as well but there had been some difficulties with the opening post until I removed the additional columns. Hopefully I can figure out a work around so all the info can be seen. In terms of WHIP, only 1 club (Tampa) has a team WHIP under 1.2 (at 1.139). 6 other have a team WHIP under 1.3: Texas 1.22, San Fran 1.228, CLE 1.241, Cinci 1.26, Miami 1.264 & Pitts 1.287 Seattle 1.304 & NY Yankees 1.305 are the next. 4 clubs have a team WHIP over 1.5: ChiSox 1.505, LA Angels 1.543, Colorado 1.561 & St. Louis 1.609 Washington with is horrible record & worst run diff has a WHIP of 1.488 MKE has a WHIP of 1.438 (23rd place) & Run diff of -5, tied with Miami (16th) Its interesting that Miami has the 6th best winning mark & is 12 over .500 but has a -5 run diff. I will need to watch that moving forward.
  5. Perhaps a factor in this deal is Stearns realizing he will be unable to compete with other clubs on the FA SS market this coming off-season. NYY & Texas are going to be looking for upgrades so the price of Story (let alone Cory S) will be untenable. Others are not thrilled with Carlos Correa. Hence getting Adames now.
  6. What the heck is that like? I feel like we have at least 10 or 15 on our 40 that could be dumped tomorrow and never be missed. First... I did not expect a MKE deal with Tampa this quick... As for your question: Cleveland has roughly 20 good prospects needing to be added to the 40 man by the R5 deadline this year & a number are found on various top 10/ top 30 prospect lists. For quick reference: 8 of MLB pipeline top 30 5 of Baseball Prospectus top 17 4 on ESPN top 10 6 on Keith Law top 20 9 on Baseball America system top 40 17 on Fangraphs top 49) Additionally some overall top 100 prospects from CLE (Espino/ Bo Naylor/ Nolan Jones/Triston McKenzie) are not part of those numbers.. When you have a truly deep farm system, these are the interesting situations you get into. As for what its like, ask me again in January 2022. I will have a better sense at that point after witnessing what moves are made/ not made with CLE
  7. Wow.. When I suggested Tampa/ Cleveland as possible trade partners for the Brewers I did not expect a deal this fast. Tampa becomes the 4th org for JP (CLE/ Yanks/ MKE) Have to think Wander Franco is getting the call to the show sooner than later..
  8. San Diego had a roster crunch due to an influx of prospect talent needing to be added to the 40 man roster the past 2 years. That lead them to many trades in 2019 & 2020. Tampa & Cleveland have similar issues later this year. Perhaps there are a few other teams in that situation as well (someone else would need to research that). There might be some talent available from those clubs in the right deal
  9. Anyone notice the screwy schedule quirk for the Twins?? - Twins miss games due to Covid issue - Twins need to make up 2 games at LA Angels - Only 1 shared off day remains for the teams (5/20/21) So, twins play a day gm vs ChiSox (in Minnie) on Weds 5/19. Twins then fly to LAA to play double header today (5/20). After these games, Twins will fly to CLE to begin a 3 game set. BTW: CLE & LAA finished a series last night. While LAA has awaited the Twins to play 2 games today, CLE has flown back home to await the arrival of the Twins on Friday night...
  10. Yikes, I was expecting the LaRussa signing to cause problems like this eventually, but it's only May 18th! I like watching this White Sox team, they're super talented, but I kind of want some more clubhouse drama to muck things up until LaRussa is canned. Terrible hire. Grab some popcorn & enjoy the show...
  11. Baseball America posted an article today 5/18/21 (appears to be free content) regarding minor league organizations & individual teams Linking it here so people can review it. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mariners-top-milb-overall-standings-nationals-bring-up-the-rear/
  12. Ummmmm the Minnesota Twins now have the worst record in baseball (12-23).. I don't think anyone suspected the Twins would slump this badly..
  13. Interesting tidbits: After the games of 5/13/21, there are no more undefeated clubs. The last 2 undefeated clubs Lynchburg (Low A CLE) & Down East (Low A Tex) went down on 5/13/21. Carolina (MKE) split a double header with Down East to end the Down East streak. Thru the games of 5/13, only 1 org has single digit loses (CLE) & only 1 org has single digit wins (Wash)..
  14. Happy Trails Jordan Z.. Enjoy your retirement.

  16. Hello everyone and welcome to the 2021 Affiliate Record Tracker by Organization. Over the past few years I have started and updated a discussion thread with this info & will try again this year. Again, I will only report on FULL SEASON minor league teams (A thru AAA). That way there is a consistent measurement of 4 affiliates for each organization. While winning is secondary to developing players in the minors, winning is important in its own right as it develops a culture of success, helps to focus players and hopefully produce post-season appearances in the minors (which results in more learning opportunities & development of the players). For this report I will list all 30 teams. In the future I will narrow the reporting (top 10, bottom 5, noting teams in the division if not already listed). Updates with be bi-weekly thru the end of May before switching to weekly sometime in June thru the end of the season. Note: My attempts to post W-L records by org are getting rejected. I will keep trying (either adding to this post or as a separate post).
  17. And both by former Brewers Ummmm??? When was Carlos Rodon a Brewer??
  18. Wade Miley throws a no hitter at CLE. Cinci wins 3-0 2nd time CLE has been no-hit in 2021...
  19. With the minor league season finally underway, Bleacher Report finally put out its start of season farm rankings. This is free content. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2942438-updated-mlb-farm-system-rankings-at-the-start-of-2021-milb-season MKE at #25 Here is the rest of the NL Central Chi Cubs at #22 Cinci at #15 Pitts at #9 St. Louis at #21 They also updated the top 10 prospects in each organization & gave a system snapshot. Top 10 Prospects Name Age Tier 1. OF Garrett Mitchell 22 1 2. SS/2B Brice Turang 21 2 3. OF Hedbert Perez 18 2 4. LHP Ethan Small 24 2 5. C Mario Feliciano 22 2 6. LHP Antoine Kelly 21 3 7. LHP Aaron Ashby 22 3 8. SS Freddy Zamora 22 3 9. C Jeferson Quero 18 3 10. OF Tristen Lutz 22 3 Farm System Snapshot The Brewers may have walked away with the biggest steal of the 2020 draft when they selected UCLA outfielder Garrett Mitchell with the No. 20 overall pick. He's still working to tap into his power potential, but even if he never hits a ton of home runs, his speed, center field defense and hit tool give him an extremely high floor. If you're looking for the next teenage phenom to rocket up leaguewide top-100 prospect rankings, outfielder Hedbert Perez has that type of upside. With five above-average tools and some valuable experience gained as the youngest player at the team's alternate site last year, his pro debut will be among the most anticipated of 2021.
  20. The correction on the JRam call was expected but I am still incredulous over the butchering of the call (non catch, tagging runner out) in the 3rd inning. That never got reviewed/ looked at in NY.
  21. I felt the umpire call/ explanation discussed here was bad but its about to be topped. Angel 'Missed Call' Hernandez & his crew screwed up big time in KC tonight.. If you can find video of the Salvador Perez strange single/ RBI from the 3rd inning of the CLE/ KC game, watch it. Then come to your own conclusion. Edit: Here is the jomboy review of Angel's bad call...
  22. I like A & E. Any ideas on how to go about making it easier to steal bases? Bigger bases. I’m serious, I believe they are testing it in the Atlantic league. Also making it more difficult to make throws to first, although I’m not sure exactly what the plan was there. Limiting the number of times a pitcher can throw over to a base while that runner occupies that base..
  23. FYI from a Cleveland twitter account... Posted early morning on 4/30/21 Former #Indians INF prospect Tyler Friis has signed a minor league contract with the Brewers. Best of luck @tylerfriis8 with Milwaukee!
  24. Eichenberg screams Packer o-linemen that the fans hate on draft day that becomes an All-Pro. Fits the mold well as a player. That is very possible. Just a couple of notes regarding Liam Eichenberg: - Cleveland area product. I would not be surprised if he physically shows up at the draft site on Friday evening awaiting his selection. - His younger brother is currently a LB at Ohio State - Went to same local high school as former packer LB Jake Ryan. Other notable names from the program in the recent past: DT Chris Hovan, DE DreMont Jones, QB Brian Hoyer, recently hired coordinators Dave Ragone (OC for ATL) & Jon Gannon (DC for Philly). - Was offered a scholarship by Urban Meyer/ Ohio State before entering his sophomore year of high school (Liam hadn't played varisty level ball yet) - both CLE & Baltimore (among others) have O-line needs & picks ahead of packers in 2nd round; I wouldn't be surprised if Eichenberg is drafted before Packers pick again (if staying at #62)
  25. Just to add for clarification: revocable waivers no longer exist. When the waiver trade deadline was eliminated a few seasons ago, so were revocable waivers.
