  1. While I can understand the Tigers dealing Boyd/ Fulmer (the Tigers have other pitchers ready to pitch at MLB), I am trying to understand why the Tigers deal Candelario... He is not expensive & is under team control for 2 more season after this one. Before responding I tried to figure out how Detroit would back-fill Candelarios departure. The 1 in-house option (Isaac Paredes) might be ready for another chance in MLB but I was not impressed with what I saw from Isaac P last summer.
  2. IF he heads to Arizona, he would need 5 days worth of negative test before being able to rejoin the alt site or MLB team. For that reason I suspect he goes to alt site to heal/ rehab (no additional Covid hurdle to clear) in order to rejoin team..
  3. That’s awesome you were able to attend it! Apparently with the Padres getting the no-hitter the Brewers now have the second longest drought without one. Only Cleveland has gone longer without a no-hitter. Without looking, would that be the Len Barker perfect game (1980, I believe)? Yes, Large Lenny Barker May 15, 1981.. Ron Hassey catching the 1st of 2 perfect games in his career (91 with Dennis Martinez was the other). Only catcher with 2 perfectos. If you look up the box score there is an interesting name (& mainstay in a different sport) starting at 3B for the Blue Jays... Hint: Mother F'n Celtic The game happened to be live broadcast locally (WUAB 43, announced by Joe Tait of basketball fame & Bruce Drennan) so everyone acts like they were at the game in person although the live crowd was under 10k.
  4. In all seriousness, I feel that Houston has screwed up their extension chance with Carlos Correa & they might prefer moving Bregman back to SS.. Correa might be a good guy to target and move over to 3B (to help him stay healthy & productive) moving forward...
  5. I think it was a Rangers beat writer on the Baseball Tonight podcast (when discussing the Rangers outlook/ plans) that noted Trevor Story is from the Dallas/ Fort worth area & the Rangers are very interested in attracting 1 of the SS free agents (mostly Story) after the 2021 season..
  6. Please clarify: were you meaning best Brewers pick for 2016 or the best overall talent coming from the 2016 draft??? As good as Burnes has been, he is still trailing other products from that same draft (2nd round pick Peter Alonso & 4th round pick Shane Bieber for example) & now a number of the HS bats from that draft (Alex Kirilloff, Gavin Lux, Brandon Marsh, etc) are finally starting to get their chance in the majors along with some others (5th round Cavan Biggio). Other notable pitchers from the 2016 draft already in the majors (after quick review): AJ Puk, Dustin May, Aaron Civale, Jesus Luzardo, Zac Gallen & Zach Plesac. Until all the careers are completed, it will be near impossible to say who was the best from that draft but becoming a legit ace as you put it would put Burnes in discussion for top 8 (if there was a post career redraft).
  7. Yes, "the whole smash" (name the movie) was moved... Future's Game/ HR Derby/ Draft/ everything with the All Star game this year was moved....
  8. MLB Pipeline put out their full report today (free content) https://www.mlb.com/news/2021-farm-system-rankings MKE at 28th. (From the article) 28. Milwaukee Brewers 2020 midseason rank: 28 2020 preseason rank: 29 Top 100 Prospects: Garrett Mitchell (No. 65), Brice Turang (No. 96) Top 2021 rookie: Justin Topa, RHP The Brewers have multiple players on the Top 100 for the first time since 2018, giving them two up-the-middle premium to lead a Top 30 that’s almost entirely homegrown (29 of the Top 30) and has a lot more bats (21) than arms (nine).
  9. I was disappointed to hear the news.. Mark Mathias/ Ernie Clement are 2 guys that give their all & will do anything/ everything asked of them within their ability.. I'm hoping for the best possible recovery for Mark...
  10. Spring Training, 2017... Some youngsters watching Corey Kluber getting work in on a back field. Two of them are now in the CLE rotation...
  11. Game also being broadcast back to Ohio. Getting to hear Tom Hamilton (WI native). He was telling multiple stories about Lauer today (played against one of Tom's son in High School & went to Kent St for college where another of Tom's sons played & went to college world series)..
  12. If Tribe was truly loading up the lefties in the lineup, Bradley Zimmer/ Eddie Rosario/ Bobby Bradley & a few others would be in the lineup mix today... ----------------------------------- Yu Chang (RH) is in a battle for utility role in CLE. He is capable of playing all across the INF & was a part of the Lucroy deal that was voided in 2016.. Think there is any interest by MKE to get Chang now??
  13. Yep, more evidence of MKE becoming a Bizarro (wish I had thought of that term earlier instead of using warped) version of CLE... On a different topic: We really need a way to like/ react to posts of a member instead of having to reply with a version of Like/ Agree/ etc
  14. Hmmmm Good pitching. Very good defense. Questionable offense. Are the Brewers becoming a warped version of Cleveland?? 2020 CLE = Great pitching (especially in rotation) & a couple very good relievers, very good defense overall, a couple good hitters and a historically poor offense in the OF. Final record 35-25 (94.5 wins over 162 game schedule). 2021 MKE = Very good pitching overall (rotation & bullpen), very good defense overall, a couple of good hitters, questionable offense from some INF spots. Final record ????
  15. News alert on Bleacher Report just came thru on my phone (JBjr to Crew for previously referenced deal)..

  17. Don't forget that as MLB & AAA groups depart the spring training site, the players for the other full season minor league levels will be arriving for their spring training workouts. That is why the spring training sites are not being considered for the ALT workout sites...

  19. I was coming over to post this news... I'm surprised & disappointed by the delay for the AAA groups...
  20. I know there are people that feel Royce Lewis was over hyped/ under performing but this news means he is done for 2021. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/02/twins-royce-lewis-surgery-torn-acl.html Right now the Twins are thankful for signing A Simmons & not dealing Alex K. They are also praying that Buxton can stay healthy for a season (Lewis was part of the depth behind Buxton)..
  21. I see that BP released its farm system rankings on 2/17/21 Article is behind the paywall. Here is what was written: 28. Milwaukee Brewers Strengths: Upside dotted across their top 10 Weaknesses: It’s very shallow, even for a bottom five system Like every list I have found so far, Tampa is #1 and Washington is #30
  22. Regarding Hedbert & his throwing arm... Prospect361 - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm PitcherList - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm Athlon Sports 2021 MLB preview - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm Keith Law (Athletic) - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm. He does suggest that Hedbert is going to be a corner OF and will need to work to avoid getting too big for the position. ESPN (Kiley McDaniel) - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm. He does list Hedbert as CF.. Baseball Prospectus - nothing said (good or bad) about his arm / no rating given on the arm. Anyone got access to any other sources for focused review??
  23. Please don't put to much credence in the ROY vote: Mike Hargrove over George Brett Pat Listach over Kenny Lofton Bob Hamelin over Manny Ramirez All those happened and were wrong...
  24. “30 arm” for Hedbert is shocking, since we’ve been seeing 50-60 on his arm since Ben Badler originally wrote about him... Right here is the reason I try to look at multiple prospect reports per player. My hope is to see at least 4 (hopefully 5 or more) different reports/ rankings for a player & a farm system. Perhaps the day Hedbert was seen he had a bad day or made a couple poor throws. Or he had a great day and made every play & throw possible. I would rather believe multiple reports indicating something good (or bad) for a player then bank on 1 report/ ranking.
  25. I tend to agree. Peralta's arm & arsenal could make for a good guy to go multiple innings in 2 outings each week. A solid bridge arm going in the 4th thru 6 or 5th into the 7th could do wonders...
