Honestly, if the Brewers win 90 wins and miss the playoffs, I'd chalk it up to bad luck. That's been more than enough to get in in recent years in the NL, and I didn't expect any more than 90 this season.
Why does mlb.com need to flash huge updates for a pitching change? I stepped away from my desk for 30 second, came back and saw LETTERS FLASHING IN ALL CAPS!!! In the tenth of a second it took me to read "PITCHING CHANGE" I feared "THREE RUN HOMER!!!"
For me, it's a few things. Excellent plate discipline, immense power ability, very good base stealer and huge potential to put up elite numbers and a low-offense position. Yes, I can use potential because he's still 25 and it's apparent that he has a ton of ability. I understand people getting frustrated with results, and I'm not defending that... Just saying why I like him personally.
Cy Youngs are based largely off the pointless win statistic, but if you want to look at it that way, CC has never had a season that approaches Ben's 2004. I didn't overlook it. I was only arguing that their numbers are similar. Sabathia will get more than Sheets because of his age and durability, but not really because his numbers are better to this point.
He's no CC? Sabathia Career: 117 ERA+, 2.57 K/BB, 7.47 K/9, 2.91 BB/9, 1.255 WHIP Sheets Career: 115 ERA+, 3.89 K/BB, 7.66 K/9, 2.03 BB/9, 1.207 WHIP Extremely similar, and you could make the case that Sheets has better numbers.
My friend had one of those videos and it's absolutely priceless. Ned sees several deer in a clearing, and one is next to a telephone pole. This bewildered him, and he repeated two or three times in an excited whisper, "That deer's rubbin up on the pole! I've never seen a deer against a pole like that!" He then fires and shoots high, then goes to fire again only to have his gun jam and exclaim, "Dadgum, my gun jammed!" He did eventually get off another shot and get a deer though. High comedy.
