  1. I thought Cameron had it easy with that jump. Still dumb to steal though. Side note, amazing tennis match for the Wimbledon final. I think I'll be putting the Brewers on the radio.
  2. I have to say Brewcrewin07, I pretty much feel the opposite of you. I was hoping Phillips' report was right, however unlikely that is, because I don't want to give up LaPorta for three months of C.C.
  3. If Phillips knows what he's saying, which is a big if, this seems possible to me. That would be exciting.
  4. From that Olney blurb: Matt Cain is a plan B? What? If Matt Cain is available, I'd prefer him over C.C. and it's not even close. Cain is signed for three more years.
  5. I'm not sure the odds of LaPorta even spending time in AAA is greater than 50-50.
  6. I don't see how this is an issue. If LaPorta isn't traded, it seems clear to me there will be a spot for him in Milwaukee by 2010 at the very latest. I kind of think he'd be the Brewers' first baseman next season.
  7. True. Parra would be a good long reliever if they wanted to use him that way. Although if the Brewers got C.C. I think the Brewers could skip some of Parra's starts.
  8. I don't think I'm the only one who'd prefer any one of these guys to Sabathia anyway, simply because they'd be under the Brewers control for much longer. I think you'd need to improve the C.C. offer for any of those guys, particularly for Lincecum.
  9. They way I see it, C.C. would be more of a move designed to make the team a world series contender rather than a playoff contender; obviously, that isn't a bad thing. However, I consider the Brewers the favorite for the wildcard as teams are currently constructed, so I'd rather not give up a huge piece like LaPorta when I already think the Brewers will make the playoffs. I'd have no problem giving up LaPorta if it was for a pitcher the team would control for more than a year. Go get Maddux instead before the deadline, keep LaPorta, trade Prince this off-season for a young pitcher we can control for years and re-sign Sheets. This year: Sheets Parra Maddux Suppan Bush Next year: Sheets Gallardo *Pitcher from Fielder trade* Parra Who cares?
  10. LaPorta and Green, plus more? Isn't that totally crazy for a rental? Ugh...
  11. One great thing came out of yesterday's game last night. My friend, who almost seems to get more intelligent when he drinks, came up with this dandy of a song (sung to the tune of Sister Christian) Mota-in! Walkin lotsa guys! And Groovin all your strikes! May not be that funny, but it sure was last night.
  12. To me it isn't as easy as the Brewers shouldn't have won last night and the DBacks shouldn't have won today. The Brewers were like 15% to win last night. Today the DBacks were like .00001% to win. Losses like this don't really happen. Of course it is only one loss, but it's hard to feel thrilled right now when they were a shoe-in for a 6-4 trip.
  13. Playing the infield in would have at least kept the game tied with one out, so that's a fair point. But yeah... It was mainly poor performance and bad luck. Wow, it doesn't even feel real.
  14. I'd love to know why this was Ned's fault?
  15. I was wondering stats were at the break, which is obviously tougher to find. Although: Dawson won the MVP with a .790 OPS!?
  16. If it is will you gasp in horror? I'm already horrified by his OBP. Just looking for some historical comparison. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. He's also on pace to blow away his career walks total. A 71 point difference between average and OBP is nice to see from J.J.
  18. Pat Burrell is very good. If the Brewers think LaPorta will be a similar player, he should be a cornerstone. I'd love to see the Rays get Holliday and the Red Sox get Bay (or vice versa), mainly so the Cardinals don't get either one.
  19. Dude could have any woman in the world... Unreal.
  20. Dude could have any woman in the world... Unreal.
  21. I'm actually trying to find out if Braun's current .313 OBP would be the lowest ever for an All-Star starter. Anyone know where I could find this info? I haven't had any luck. I imagine there's a catcher or something who had one lower, but it has to be lowest ever for an outfielder, doesn't it?
  22. Sorry, missed that in your post. That next wave would be mostly gone, but they'd control guys like Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Yo, Parra long enough to get another wave up in time for the departure of those they decide not to keep.
  23. If they "punt" next year, that probably means Fielder is traded this off-season as well. I'm not so sure they'd throw in the towel, but it would be a very different team. They'd probably still have the chance to be pretty good though, IMO.
  24. zzz, I'm not sure if that gets it done, but I wouldn't want to offer much more than that, so I like it. Nate, I actually meant I didn't want to give up any one of Gamel, LaPorta or Jeffress, much less a package.
  25. Yeah, Ryan refused to pitch to contact, which is why he had a ton of walks and losses as well. I actually think he's pretty overrated in general.
