  1. I didn't even see him sending him it looked like Braun was going no matter what. I'll be interested to hear about that after the game. Sedar needed to be screaming for him not to go.
  2. Kevin Mench? Is that you?
  3. I don't know, Rick Peterson sure made a splash in the one year he was here. Mike Cameron for center, too.
  4. If Pastornicky is not seen as a viable long-term starter at shortstop, I don't really want to give up Taylor Green for him.
  5. My point is, if teams have Major League-ready talent, they won't trade it for a deadline player--they'll just use those players. Comparing the stats of Marcum and Greinke is beside the point. Who has higher trade value? Clearly that will be Greinke.
  6. I suppose you could add Schafer and Gindl to that last, depending on how the rest of their seasons go.
  7. Why would a team give up Major League ready talent for Marcum? Wouldn't they just use said Major League talent?
  8. Trading Marcum and re-signing Greinke seems pretty unrealistic to me. Greinke wants to play for a winner. Why would he give any sort of discount (which is the Brewers' only hope of signing him) if they're selling off other players? I don't see how they could sell anyone and not trade Greinke.
  9. Player-wise, there are a few. Tulowitzki, Kemp, possibly Cabrera. But for the other stuff value-wise that you describe, probably not? Tulowitzki is the better player and would be a tough call, though.
  10. It would be awesome if they could get someone to take the A-Ram contract for nothing, but I'm guessing they'd even have to pay some of it. And I'm sure they wouldn't do that anyway.
  11. I'm not saying they shouldn't sell, I'm just saying they won't make any trades that give up on the season before July. I'm not even saying definitively that they shouldn't, but that they won't within the next few weeks.. All Attanasio talks about is how he's not giving up, how he seems them as contenders, etc etc. He wants to keep attendance high as long as possible. I sure hope common sense wins out eventually if they keep stinking, but I'm not totally convinced it will. But yeah, in a weak division, there really isn't any reason to give up yet, even with as poorly as they played. Baseball Prospectus still gives them over a 22% chance to reach the playoffs. Trades will still be there in a month; no need to rush.
  12. Obviously they aren't going to sell at this moment, so there's no need in determining whether they should yet. Re-evaluate in a month. If they're 8+ games under .500 at that point, then of course they should sell.
  13. On what planet is Kottaras struggling? He has a .421 OBP over the last month. And for the guy who said Lucroy is clearly the better offensive player? Lucroy career OPS: .722 Kottaras career OPS: .743 Nobody's arguing Kottaras should have been starting over Lucroy, but Kottaras is clearly a good hitting catcher.
  14. Yikes. Do you really see any way Melvin (more specifically, Attanasio) lets that happen? Only way is if they go into full-on sell mode this year. Even if the record calls for it, I'd be surprised if the Brewers actually do it. Plus, if Fiers, Peralta, and Rogers are all in the rotation, the team will be terrible, anyway, so I'd still be worried about putting Rogers in a situation where he is most likely to succeed. I see he had a better start yesterday, but his overall numbers are still terrible. More time to work on his control? That sounds like something they should be doing with a young prospect, not a guy who's on his very last big league shot with the team.
  15. How many times do you think he's heard that Bohemian Rhapsody line?
