  1. If we have to spend 3.4 million on this kid its really a terrible pick. We will likely know what the story is when they draft today. If they pick what looks like unsignable players like Pratt and Bitonti we'll know we have saved a lot on the first pick but if its a bunch of low ceiling college seniors we are probably forced to pay the 3.4 which would be insane.
  2. Everyone keeps bringing up drafting EBJ allowed us to overpay for Mis. My question is why didn't we just draft Mis first and pay what we did and then see what was available with the pick we ended up using on him.
  3. I am never in favor of drafting slap hitting outfielders high. Hopefully this kid is the next Rickie Henderson but odds are he never reaches AA.
  4. I guess we'll all find out soon enough but this pick just doesn't make sense to me. I question whether he is even a top 10 outfield prospect in this system. Lets see how the rest of the draft goes but I do like the two young pitchers at least.
  5. I think someone mentioned that you can no longer way underpay picks. So I don't believe the Brewers can save the 2 million or so that they should for taking a kid that belonged nowhere near the first round. Surely he won't get anywhere near the slot but he will still be grossly overpaid.
  6. Very much in favor of the last two picks but that still doesn't take away what I think was a throwaway of a first round pick and the Burnes pick most likely being wasted on a Vogelbach type. As amazing as the 23 draft was so far I am quite underwhelmed with the early results but hopefully we can draft a few Pratts and Bitontis today to make up for the first round debacle.
  7. All we hear is this pick and that pick will save us money but until we actually pick someone ranked higher than our slot its all talk. They can still change things up and pick a few unsignable guys but if this is the best we do this is one horrifyingly disappointing draft.
  8. This draft is shaping up terribly so far unless you think the scouting director has a rabbit up his sleave.
  9. Not thrilled at all with this draft so far. Never a fan of drafting a slap hitting outfielder or one dimensional first basemen.
  10. Are there any examples of the Brewers going totally off the board in the early rounds and it working out because I can't think of any.
  11. Totally reminiscent of those two picks. Yuck is all I can say.
  12. This kid better be signing for something like 2 million under slot to use on better players because its an absolutely brutal first round pick.
  13. While I appreciate no longer being an also ran I admit to having fatigue of feeling like this team will never be capable of winning a World Series which really needs to be the ultimate goal.
  14. Just can't continue to survive with all these short starts. Its also time to thank Keuchel for his effort and release him.
  15. Getting 3 or 4 innings most nights from the starters has caught up with them.
  16. No big deal at least the Nats don't suck as much as the White Sox.
  17. You have to laugh at the media calling for this mediocre team to go all in. All in for what; to possibly win another playoff game or two because this is nowhere close to being a championship team.
  18. If the Brewers were to trade Black or Wilken for someone like Fedde the entire front office should be fired that same day.
  19. No interest in any bullpen arms as we have enough and that has not worked out well at all for us the last few years. I would look for a bat or two that come cheap (maybe Winker again) and potentially a starter but I wouldn't pay a high price for anyone.
  20. A losing week at home against the Pirates and Nats is terrible.
  21. Good thing we've got him for another year.
  22. Frelick is fine as a slappy singles hitter but Mitchell has struggled and Wiemer is a AAAA player.
  23. The wear and tear that a catcher takes is why I would never pay one into their thirties and have no interest in a long term deal with Contreras.
  24. Contreras would be better served taking the All Star game off and getting some rest. He's worn down and this lineup is suffering big time without him hitting.
