Definitely though Uribe was the wrong guy to bring in with two on and no outs but fantastic job by our future closer.

Anyone that thinks that Stearns was doing anything other than waiting for the first chance to jump ship to the Mets is fooling themselves. The only reason why Stearns wasn't employed by the Mets the last several years was Attanasio holding him to his contract.

This is what concerns me. The big market teams can pay big money to steal the top scouts and executives of teams like the Brewrs and Rays. Its bad enough that we get outspent by huge margins on the major league payroll but it could easily get to the point where the big teams have far better and deeper front offices than teams like ours and competing will get to be nearly impossible.

The big question is how many current Brewers executives he takes with him. I personally hope he fails miserably as I despise Cohen but expect Stearns with an actual payroll to do about as well as Friedman has done with LA.

What a shock and not something I said was happening several years ago. I was wrong though about one thing; I predicted 20 million a year and reports have it at a measly 15.

I think the Brewers look at it as the money is already spent might as well keep him in case there is literally no one else to call up. If you think Hiura is literally worse than every player in the majors and no one would want him at the major league level for the minimum I would say I strongly disagree. The Brewers had many chances to give Keston a shot but chose to watch Winker flop and give just about anyone a chance but Keston. At least Hiura is getting paid 2 million and I wish him well with his next team who will hopefully treat him better than we have. -

At a major league minimum salary there would definitely be interest in Keston. Cheap teams like Oakland and Kansas City weren’t willing to take on his lofty by their standards contract but surely would take him at league minimum unless you think there isn’t a worse player in the major leagues. The money is paid out by the Brewers and they have passed him over each and every time so do the guy a favor and let him continue his career elsewhere. Personally I think the team has screwed up big time not giving him a chance on a team that can’t hit but they just hate this player for whatever reason so do the right thing by the guy and let him go. -

If the Brewers prefer anyone and everyone over Hiura they should have just released him and let him catch on with another major league team or even one in Japan or Korea. Letting him rot in AAA while putting up good numbers is just cruel and completely unneccessary. Its obvious that the team doesn't have any plans for him so do the guy a favor and let him continue his career elsewhere. -
There is absolutely nothing to lose if they make this move. At least there is some possible upside with Donaldson and if it doesn't work out so what its not like we are getting anything from the position anyway.

White Sox fired Williams and Hahn and I can't imagine any fans of the team being upset.

When you have as big of a question mark as this team does at third base both now and going forward I believe its a mistake giving away the potential answer especially over 5 million.

Thats a fair opinion but I would take Urias over Monasterio both in the present and going forward due to having a longer track record. If we are dumping players over a 5 million dollar salary we have bigger issues going forward. At best Monastario is unproven and Anderson hasn't hit in months so keeping Urias around in a pennant race as at least an insurance policy was probably the right thing to do unless you really believe that Blalock is some uncovered gem and even if that is the case they have weakened the depth for this years team.

The Monasterio/Anderson duo is exactly why you keep depth in Urias who was one of the better performers on this team last season. Using this years stats when Urias got hurt before the season and had limited at bats as a reason to give him away is strange when he has a few years of at least decent performance.

The bigger question is why the Brewers traded Urias with a questionable starter in Monestario and another third baseman struggling as badly as Anderson.

The excuses for this offense need to end. This is a terrible offensive team that is only contending due to pitching, defense, and a joke of a division. I think we had a total of 9 hits in a three game series where we faced a rookie in game one and a faded veteran in Lynn with over a 6 ERA last night. This is an organizational failure with this lineup where players don't get better and some regress badly like Adames who once looked like a guy that would eventually sign a 200 million dollar plus contract as a free agent after the 24 season to a guy we should probably non tender to avoid paying him next season. We have a pitching lab that has done wonders getting the most out of our pitchers even ones that are not all that talented yet we seem to be clueless as an organization when it comes to getting anything out of hitters. The excuses of how unlucky we are is a joke at this point when we haven't hit all season.

The Brewers need to completely revamp the way the organization develops hitters. They have figured out how to get the most out of pitchers even the ones that aren't overwhelmingly talented yet the hitters continue to mostly underproduce and in some cases decline to ridiculously low levels like Adames.

I agree that this goes way beyond the failure to play Hiura and that we failed to improve the offense last offseason besides trading for Contreras who is a good hitting catcher.

Maybe they should have been playing a former first round pick who was one of their better hitters last year instead of trading for one guy who appears to be washed up and another who is the quality of a fourth outfielder.

How many times are we going to hear that the Brewers are going to bolster the first base position in the offseason when it has mostly been a black hole since Fielder left.

Off topic but why is there such disrepect for people with different thoughts and views. The personal attacks have gotten way out of hand and have made this a much less enjoyable place to be.

Its a problem if Attanasio is more involved with his third rate soccer team than he is with the Brewers but that might be the case.

It is a fact that the owner has not been around as much this season but you go right ahead with your insults which as always are applauded by the same guy.

Not to take this too far off course but we do have a manager and GM both on the last years of their contracts which is very unusual. Counsell has been offered an extension and has not made up his mind if he wants to keep managing or step away but we have heard nothing about any extension talks with Arnold. Between these situations and the fact that we haven't made any attempts to sign any of our players long term (at least none that have been reported) and you have to wonder what is going on with ownership.
