  1. This idea that there is no spot in this lineup for Conforto is laughable.
  2. I have more confidence in Hiura than Yelich right now.
  3. The pitching has been mostly terrible but that should get back on track. The offense on the other hand is going to be bad.
  4. Yelich hitting with as much power as Ben Sheets nowadays is disastrous for this team.
  5. Unless the Brewers have acquired an established first baseman that I don’t know about there is no reason why Hiura shouldn’t have a shot at starting. Nothing against Rowdy but Hiura should be given every opportunity to win the job.
  6. The lineup being as thin as it is means we really can’t afford any injuries. Hopefully Urias comes back quickly but this is just another situation that shows why we should have acquired better hitters than Renfroe and Mccutchen this offseason.
  7. Clearly the lockout accomplished nothing and we once again have to pick through the scraps while the big money teams continue to have payrolls twice as big as the small market teams.
  8. The Brewers will add mid season but expect the additions to be like Escobar and Rowdy which are not difference making additions as we all found out last postseason when Atlanta had a star in Freeman and we had nothing comparable. This team needs an MVP level Yelich but are foolish if they are expecting it.
  9. Pretty sure the Twins owners are far wealthier than Attanasio and the Brewers are not signing too many long term big money deals. Our one big ticket item is Yelich and if the last two years is what he is going to be going forward we are probably wise not to give any more big contracts. This should be a playoff team because the pitching is that good but this is a well below average offense that we just don't have the money to address.
  10. This CBA is clearly no better for small market teams than the last one. As usual all the top talent other than Bryant is going to the big market teams so we are left with the scraps instead of signing Castellanos who is a perfect fit for this team.
  11. I just don't see McCutchen even in a best case scenario being nearly good enough for a lineup that needs a big time producer. With this pitching in place it is the perfect time to acquire a guy like Castellanos but we seem to have chosen a far cheaper path. This offense was incredibly difficult to watch last season and I just don't see Renfroe and McCutchen doing enough to change that.
  12. I would have liked Freeman at those numbers and totally agree that Atlanta should have been willing to offer him this contract which is far from outrageous.
  13. I get wanting to be optimistic but expecting a 35 yr old player who has been in a pretty steady decline for years to all of a sudden turn it around is a bit crazy but this is the time of the year for the rose colored glasses.
  14. The team needs a big time hitter with only Castellanos as a remote possibility. Story away from Coors Field makes no sense at all and I just don’t see any chance of signing Bryant or Freeman. I would be thrilled with Castellanos but just don’t see it happening and most of the other possibilities are as underwhelming as McCutchen at this point in his career. Considering how good and mostly cheap our pitching staff is now is the time to get a big time hitter to win us a World Series.
  15. Do you have any possibilities in mind because this looks like the lineup we are going with and the possibility of a mediocre deadline acquisition like last season. With the way our lineup performed last season I was hoping we would aim quite a bit higher than this and if McCutchen and Renfroe are our big adds that would be quite disappointing to say the least.
  16. Is there any chance this team signs a more prominent bat or is this pretty much what we are going with. In my opinion this is probably our biggest acquisition for the lineup which would be really disappointing but hopefully Stearns signs or trades for a MUCH better hitter to improve what looks to be a pretty bad offensive team.
  17. Now go get Castellanos and I won’t care about this stupid signing.
  18. If this was for a platoon bat against lefties no problem but this doesn’t move the needle at all and we are still desperate for a legitimate middle of the order bat especially when you factor the DH being in the national league.
  19. Sorry but this lineup is still way short if they want to win the World Series. instead of signing a real impact bat like Castellanos we went dumpster diving much like we did at last years deadline. Great pitching is going to be wasted by having a sub par offense.
  20. Go get Castellanos. This team needs a legitimate middle of the order bat and preferably a right handed hitter with Castellanos being the best fit. Enough with the bottom of the barrel like a washed up McCutchen and get the real top hitter that this lineup needs to win a World Series.
  21. I personally don’t care for either side but want the best system possible to help small market teams like the Brewers have as good of a chance to win consistently as the big market teams.
  22. Sounds all well and good but we don’t know if Arnold is a great executive or similar to our new hire Klentak. I really hope Attanasio does everything he can to keep our sure thing star David Stearns.
  23. I’m shocked at the lack of concern with possibly losing Stearns in 2 years. We are just as likely to falter as we are to having a seamless Favre to Rodgers like transition. I’ve enjoyed being a real contender and really hope Attanasio does whatever necessary to keep Stearns.
  24. How is thinking we have Stearns for only two more seasons a good thing. We finally have a great executive and we are probably going to lose him to a big market. Attanasio stepping up and signing Stearns to a long term deal would be the best thing he could ever do to ensure the franchise stays relevant and in contention. If he wants to go, he's eventually going to go. The Brewers can try to delay it, but if he wants to join the Mets, and the Mets want him,it will happen. That's just how MLB front offices work. Execs aren't tied down to teams the way players are. Yeah, it would be nice to see him sign a long-term deal, but knowing that David Stearns is here for at least two more seasons, UNLESS the Brewers are playing in the 2022 World Series, is a pretty cool feeling regardless. Sorry I can't get excited knowing there is a chance that this team becomes irrelevant again in short order while the mega market Mets compete at the highest level with OUR executive leading the way. I guess being good year after year is too much to ask for a small market team like the Brewers. Its bad enough that the Mets have a criminal owner and a payroll twice as high as ours but thinking they will also have Stearns leaves a bitter taste and is quite infuriating.
  25. As long as the system has the Brewers competing with half the payroll of the big market teams we will continue to be at a huge disadvantage. Nothing short of a salary cap is good enough. The NFL has the popularity that it does because the Packers are are at a level playing field with the Cowboys.
