  1. If Buxton actually plays a lot of games its a great deal for the Twins but how can you expect that when he seemingly is always injured.
  2. That Semien contract is a gross overpay unless you believe that last season is what you will be getting from him going forward. Texas was once thought to be a well run organization but Daniels has run the club into the ground.
  3. I am happy we didn't do a deal like this and think we need to upgrade over Garcia.
  4. Further proof that this team needs not one but two big time hitters if we are going to be a championship team. I am hopeful that we sign Castellanos and maybe trade Houser for the second bat. Looking at the desperation when it comes to pitching I think Houser can fetch a far higher return than many would expect.
  5. *banging head against the wall. The bolded part is the only portion of this post that is correct. Until Stearns signs an extension with the Brewers all sorts of wild speculation is going to be out there.
  6. I wonder what the fine/penalty would be from MLB if they found out something like this was going on. So..... no. There is no fine that the richest owner in baseball can't pay and if you know anything about Cohen this is the type of thing he would be willing to do. I believe that Stearns has more class than to be working as a double GM this offseason but I wouldn't completely rule it out especially with the way Cohen has run his main business.
  7. Probably wrong to speculate on but the question has to be asked if this was an Eppler move or Stearns from behind the curtain knowing he is headed there after next season.
  8. I personally would have liked to have Escobar back at that price but we have to add a right handed bat with some pop to this lineup.
  9. The one position where you hate to have a bad defensive player is at catcher. The Brewers helped turn Narvaez around defensively and hopefully can do the same with Severino but being bad defensively at this position is not good at all.
  10. Hopefully Attanasio steps up to the plate and makes Stearns amongst the highest paid executives in the sport.
  11. He's the richest owner in the sport and its not really close.
  12. The most important thing this team needs to do is lock Stearns up long term. We have to get this done so we can end this speculation once and for all.
  13. Are we really going to let this hang over the organization for the next year. Stearns really needs to be signed to a long term contract or he should be let go now. As professional as this GM is having him run the team knowing he is leaving after next season is not a good thing for this team to be dealing with.
  14. This franchise just can't have nice things. It was so nice knowing that we had a top 5 executive and now that is possibly about to go down the drain. I hope Mark A does what it takes to keep Stearns happy in Milwaukee because the thought of him leaving is beyond sad.
  15. Which is what he may find to be the challenge of the job, and might draw him in... Like someone mentioned above, we need to be worried about who he takes with him when he goes as well. Him leaving could be catastrophic to our future... I think Stearns leaving would be about the worst possible scenario for this franchise but I think either way this needs to be resolved this offseason. We need Stearns to commit and sign long term or sadly we should just let him go now. Letting him run the team knowing he is going to leave after next season is the worst case scenario.
  16. Stearns would certainly not be answering to Alderson and he can name his price. If he asked for 20 million a year I doubt Cohen would say no as thats pennies to the richest owner in the sport. The question remains how much he wants to go back home and how much money he wants to demand because there are definite negatives to that job especially the owner who has quite the negative reputation. Attanasio needs to lock Stearns up this offseason so these questions about his future end once and for all. If its clear that Stearns wants to go home we pretty much have to let him go. I think it would be disastrous for the franchise but either way we need an answer as to whether or not David wants to be here long term.
  17. If Stearns is not extended this offseason he is probably as good as gone next offseason if we really don't have a 2023 option. The question is do we want a lame duck executive running the team if he clearly wants out. Not saying that he wouldn't do his best to help us win next season but I just don't like the prospect of our top executive having designs on another job.
  18. The Brewers really need a right handed bat so no thanks on Conforto.
  19. I am all in favor of having a strong defensive team but I have no issue with having one big time hitter that is weak on defense. No reason to have an unathletic team full of Prince Fielder types who offer nothing of value other than their bats but this team desperately needs a right handed middle of the lineup hitter that other teams have to be concerned about.
  20. According to Spotrac the Brewers outfield had the 4th highest salary in 2021, while FanGraphs had them 11th in WAR as a group. They might not have gotten what they paid for, but that doesn't necessarily mean the money was wasted. The season was an overall succes & the OF contributed to that success. Teams I would say wasted a ton of money on the OF last year would be... LAA (1st in salary, 29th in WAR, missed playoffs) SDP (6th in salary, 20th in WAR, missed playoffs) COL (7th in salary, 25th in WAR, missed playoffs) CHC (8th in salary, 19th in WAR, missed playoffs) NYM (10th in salary, 27th in WAR, missed playoffs) I would guess roughly half of the Brewers payroll was spent on the outfield yet Garcia was the only one that wasn't a minus with the bat unless you include the minimum salaried Taylor. The Brewers were a playoff team due to exceptional pitching despite our bloated salaried outfield. The Brewers lineup was the worst of any playoff team. It was nice that they could score against the likes of Chicago and Pittsburgh but they weren't going to be facing minor league talent in the postseason and the results showed. This lineup didn't have one guy that other teams feared. Bringing back Garcia and essentially going with the same lineup will likely lead to another year of wasting incredible starting pitching. Its great that guys like Cain and Bradley play great defense but their bats are not nearly good enough especially when you consider how much money they are making.
  21. Garcia is going to find a very cold market this winter and wish he had taken the option year. No reason whatsoever to extend a qualifying offer. Garcia had a good season last year but no reason to bet on it happening again and jeez have we wasted a ton of money on this outfield.
  22. I think we might be stuck rolling with the same lineup unless we acquire a big time hitter in a trade. With Yelich and his exhorbitant salary kicking in next season and the raises due to the arbitration guys I just don't see how we can add a big salary like Castellanos even if he is exactly the type of hitter this lineup desperately lacks.
  23. Hader will get traded if and only if a team like San Diego is desperate enough to back up the truck. If that doesn't happen we will keep Hader until he reaches free agency where a big market team can pay him over 100 million for his down years.
  24. Anyone pining for Doug Melvin over Stearns is nuts. Melvin was good at finding bats but he was a terrible evaluator of pitching and the defense was not stellar under him either. You can do far worse than Melvin but he isn't in the same class as Stearns who is easily a top 5 executive in the game.
  25. This team needs a difference maker offensively the type of guy other teams fear. Castellanos is that type of hitter and Rizzo at this point in his career is not. We have enough all around players that aren't great hitters and that needs to change.
